Video is nice.

Mad Props. I was just searching for this about 20 mins ago. I was pissed cuz I missed it on Access Granted tonight.
I'll check it and drop some feedback...
*EDIT*
Great video. He could have taken it lots of ways, but I like the way he took it. Kept the imagery simple so that it didn't take anything away from the song and it's message. I really like this song. Nobody else with mainstream exposure drops singles like this. I can't wait to buy this shit on Dec. 19th.

I thought I'd post the feed directly. Hope thats cool with you!

I think it's gonna drop. We now got the official single /video and Def Jam absolutely wants the sales before the year is out. Christmas yields sales spikes anyway so everybody releasing around this time is gonna push slightly higher numbers than the might if they released any other time of the year.
Anyway to the video. It starts out with prelude brining us up to speed to the current situation. Just like in the Star Wars movie text rolls from the bottom and fades off into oblivion towards the top of the screen. The premise is that the government has abolished Hip Hop - anybody claiming that they are an MC will receive the worst punishment possible.
The majority of the vid is Nas performing in a dark & dank warehouse kinda like he's hiding out from the law. You see lots of microphones hanging from the ceiling, as well as recording equipment. Also, on a table are thousands of presumeably cd booklets for his new album. He's got a group of people recording his raps and putting them on wax (cd's), putting in the cd inserts and pushing his cd's like its illegal contraban. They're all dressed in black - parallel to like a major drug kingpin.
All the while the feds are tracking him, hunting him down.
Then at the end when Nas drops those last 16 or so over nothing but drums & crowd chants is he dressed in like a 3 piece suit like a president speaking to the masses that are down with his cause.
I'm sure I missed some shit but that's it in a nutshell.

Props for the link. Does anyone know who that is that shakes Nas' hand while he's standing on stage at the end of the video?

Hard to tell...Jungle?
-
Nice video. Yall notice how he says NYC, Dirty South, West Coast... I guess he did that so it wouldn't cause more friction between the East and South.
-

shoutin out Ren
that video was cool, nice n chill
cant wait for the album to drop!
-

Nas has always given it up to the South. That Favor For A Favor song with Scarface on I Am was classic. He was giving props to The Product earlier in the year when they album dropped and they talking about Nas being on their next album.

dope track, dope video

If that is Will.I.Am with the background lyrics i don't feel they were needed.
-
it's an allright track.. i like the video..

I really liked the song before, now I LOVE it with the video.Dope concept, and we gotta give props to Nas for making this kind of a track his first single.Like Jrome said, ain't nobody in mainstream Hip-Hop doing it like that
Props for the link

Huh? They're not going for sales on this one? How about they're not gunning for the fuckin teeny bop crowd on this one. The gave Nas $10 million just to sign with them. You think they're not looking for sales?

I THINK IT'LL SELL, I MEAN NAS IS RECOGNIZED AND I THINK PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND NOT TRENDY

Considering that they dropped the video 2 weeks before release date, he has basically no promotion and the video is not on some high budget shit Im sceptical about it. But we'll see how things turn out.

Well of course he's gonna get a fraction of the promotion that Jay gave himself from Def Jam. And damn near everybody well outside of Hip Hop were exposed to some Jay promo - Budweiser, Monday Night Football, Time magazine, etc. But most Hip Hop fans know that Nas is dropping, and he did get on access granted on BET.
Don't get me wrong, there's no way Nas comes close to Jay's first week numbers, but to say it's obvious Def Jam isn't going for sales on this one is crazy.
And you can have all the promotion in the world, and the highest budget videos, and it still doesn't directly translate into sales.
I think you buy into the propaganda that only a certain type of audience purchases albums, and no one else. Industry heads want people to believe that so they can justify their position of putting out simplistic formulaic bullshit marketed strictly to one audience over and over with no consequence. They know exactly what they're doing. But the quality of the music has suffered BIG TIME because of that, and anybody with an ear for music whatsoever would realize it.

clever concept
