Eminem- his baby mama Kim.
Even his best song of last year was "Where I'm At" with Loyd Banks, that was his first banger in a while. Back in his prime he was still brooding over his love/hate for Kim and that's why he was at his best then.

Warren G- his childhood/teenage years with Snoop and Nate.
Warrens greatest songs like "This DJ" and so much of the material from his albums consists of reminiscing about his days coming up with Snoop and Nate in Long Beach
2pac- his childhood poverty
It's clear Pac's childhood poverty always served as an inspiration to him. It allowed him to be deeply empathetic to the plight of the less fortunate and disenfrachised people.
Nas- His coming of age in Queensbridge
Nas is that rapper writing from a project window in Queens just looking out and writing legendary tales about everyday folks around the way.

It came out Christmas time 99'. It has the same name as his second album - Doggfather-
Excellent read. His stories about the his experiences as a Crip and the few years leading up to his meeting with Dr. Dre are certainly a highlight of the book.

1. Doggfather- Times and Trials and Hardcore Truths of Snoop Dogg
2. Holler If You Hear Me- 2pac- Written by Michael Eric Dyson
3. Life and Def- Russel Simmons biography
I think that's all I can remember off the top of my head, but I'm sure I've read a few more artist biographies. But I would recommend all three of those, they are excellent.

A few books about the underground scenes in different places
(there were some others, donīt remember now)
to get a better view on an era or genre i like to read books written about some particular era or towns where certain musical genres started . and i do read books about some bands i donīt even listen to . i just like to know how some things started . itīs a part of my job too , kinda .
