a while ago, they gave a guy only 5 fuckin years for kidnapping a child, tying him up and raping him, and then beating him up

The term "snitch" has a negative connotation in todays culture but I think it's a mistake to think that a victim of a crime should be seen negatively for reporting it. I'm sure if you had a four year old daughter and she "snitched" that the neighbor touched her in some private places, you wouldn't admonish the child for being a snitch would you? Or maybe if your wife got raped you would prefer not to know because that would make her a snitch and who wants to married to a snitch anyway? See what I mean?
