I think I'm getting too old for this new hip hop sound. I like KL but judging from the snippets, It seems that we are going to get the typical commercial sound. Lyrically I'm expecting Kendrick to deliver but unfortunately for me, I'm not digging this new sound in Hip Hop.

I only heard a couple of them, I dont really wanna spoil it becuz from what I did hear its definitely gonna be better than I expected. The 1st day im gettin two 40's and a Coko Loko FourLoko or a (Fruit Punch) Blast and im delving into the depths of a good kid in a maad city. #MoreBelve

Gotta say this sounds like shit. All the tracks sound the bloody same. The album hardly sounds westcoast either. Kendrick is also being seriously overrated on this forum too.

Exactly. I fuckin love "Section.80" and it had amazing beats on it. I knew this shit would happen when Kendrick signed with Dre. Some of the snippets sound dope though.

Most that shit sounds kinda wack to me, the ones that sound dope are good kid, maad city, the master splinter joint and black boy fly, not sure about the rest....I guess it's only snippets though

just listened to the snippets, and i have to say that this album is weak as fuck,
First time i ever bothered to listen to kendrick lamar, and I'm not impressed.
His flow, voice and style is wack, What's the hype around this kid? Because dre signed him?
Dre has got no clue about new dope westcoast talent. There is so much better new young rappers from the westcoast,
but this weak artist gets signed to dre? lol, anyways whatever.
All the beats are very average or weak on this album.
The best beat i would have to say thats on this album is the one featuring dre. I know it sounds like an eastcoast beat, but i think its a pretty good beat.
I predict this album will not reach 100k in sales, let alone gold or platinum status.

Kendrick has a unique style, real lyricism, good storytelling ability, and was getting major buzz long before Dre signed him. No, he isn't gonna go platinum or maybe even gold, but he makes quality music and will probably sell 300,000 or so when all is said and done

Kendrick always has something substantial to say and i think some of people here probably don't even understand english so good that they could understand what he spittin' about. I love the beats on "Section.80", but they really ain't for everybody. There's only a couple of snippets on "GKMC" that actually have the same type of beats though and i figured that would happen when i heard that Kendrick signed with Aftermath and Insterscope Records. Iovine is all about that money.

dropping an independent album and dropping a highly anticipated debut supervised by Dr. Dre is a very different exercise. needless to say there is much more pressure for the latter and the need to cater to current trends (more or less) to expect decent record sales for the label to recoup the money invested. must be hard for kendrick to juggle between sticking to his current style and vision and anticipating the label's wants. i'm sure it's gonna make kendrick's shit sound much less authentic and spontaneous and I think Dre's aware of that (that may be the reason he is always struggling to finish off projects) but the extracts we've been getting so far are promising. i think they've reached a compromise.
section .80 was very dope, and I don't think i'll enjoy GKMC as much even production wise (i really liked the sound of S.80) but it should be at least decent, i don't have very high expectations for this anyway (i'm not expectng a very cohesive project but i know kendrick will deliver)

i agree...section 80 had a "queer" as in weird, unoorthodox, type of sound that i did not enjoy one bit...i prefer the snippets of gkmc over section 80 :D
