Title: Can a state/territory/province secede from a country?

What is your opinion on this? And how do you feel it should be done if it is possible?

Sure, but there's not a lot of use in it these days unless the country's a shithole about to fall apart anyway. Although I wouldnt mind seeing California as its own nation :)

I'm glad Belgium isn't part of The Netherlands anymore. Gosh, imagine living in the same country as all those Belgians... I don't think I could handle that :-\

considering how much they contribute to the economy etc it'd be funny if it happened..

it'd probably fuck over the union though.. it could trigger a north/south divide

They don't really contribute much to the rest of the country at all.  California has some of the worst schools, the highest tax rates, the highest crime, the craziest laws, and generally wouldn't be missed by most of the population of the rest of the country.  I was fortunate enough to leave Cali when I was 7, way back in the 80's, and haven't looked back.

What is your opinion on this? And how do you feel it should be done if it is possible?

From a Muslim perspective, in general, one state/territory/province that is predominately Muslim should not secede from the larger country that is predominately Muslim; because the unity of Muslims should be encouraged and preserved.

This is especially true in the case of where Muslims have a Caliphate (Muslim ruler, Muslim state) in place.   (Muslims haven't officially had a world recognized state since the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War 1 by the British)
