listen now :)
dont expect anything special as JB is quite boring and not capable to pick up good beats :-\ :-\
-
I like it. He is good but for some reason gets raped on almost every Slaughterhouse song, must be his delivery.
-
He comes correct lyrically so I'm not going to speak on that but his production has improved since Padded Room but the vocals don't sound like they're mixed properly.
There's some bad beats, some decent ones, and some good ones.
The ad-libs like he's a dj are annoying.
Though it's better mastered than Padded Room, he still needs better mixing and mastering.
-
someone pm me a link
-
reminds me a lot of padded room.. same guy mixed this shit?
-
Purchased this, this morning. Didn't really know what to expect from it, but it's a pretty solid release. The production on it sounds pretty good to me. Budden's verses sound pretty nice on here as well. I've not listened to a lot of Budden's other releases, but I'm starting to think that he's better as a solo artist. At any rate, overall, the album delivers. Also, I wasn't expecting Royce Da 5'9 to appear on "For You," so that was a pleasant surprise.
-
not trying to compare this to Me Against The World, haven't even listened to it yet.
but see, this is why albums in the Me Against The World days were all concidered perfect classics.
complaining about quality? i haven't listened, but it can't be that bad; i didn't hear anything on Padded Room that was like "WOW, THAT QUALITY/MIXING WAS AWFUL".
things like that are going to take away from the album? c'mon now lol.
downloading now...

Well Buddens solo records always sound like the vocals are too far if you know what I mean.

i get what you're saying; lemme bump it though.
i just don't like hearing complaints on such small shit that wasn't even a factor in grading albums from back in the day, naww mean?

Link Local HMV Never Heard Of This Got The Slaughterhouse Album Tho

It depends on how much it bothers you but personally I can't stand the album if the mixing is not proper. That's why Dre is my favorite producer and that's why I tend to like Aftermath affiliated projects; the sound is so clean and polished.

you're right in that aspect.
i guess it just doesn't bother me too bad to the point i can't listen to is.
anyway, just went through the album one time & i think it's amazing; regardless of how biased you think my opinon is, i think it's right up their with his other projects, hence why i like it.
i don't know if i could go as far as saying it's better than Padded Room, but after a few more listens i might be able to say it's close to it.

Cham Click, that's a really stupid comment by you.
Seriously, I'm listening to music. I'm not just listening to Budden rapping. He could just write poetry instead if that's all there was to it.
Complaints about the sound of the music are legitimate unless they're absurd. If a drum sounds like tin cans when they should sound like an explosion, it's bad. That's not a good thing.
Now it seems I'm saying budden's padded room was complete trash which i'm not but it sounds very much like an underground release. I mean the perfect example is comparing the same tracks Maino used. His beats sounded that much better because they were properly mixed and mastered.
There is a way to sound deliberate dirty and grimy without sounding like it was poorly mixed and mastered.

it's never been so bad or so blatantly obvious i said to myself "wow, that's fucking terrible".
that's all, i don't think it's a make or break the album type of thing, unless it's hands down AWFUL, which i don't believe it is.
matter of opinion.
-
About halfway through it.
Dope sofar...
Anyone else notice how The Slaughter's are all starting to sound alike?
(I can hear all their flows on certain tracks)
Defo a good thing, Not mad at that.
EDIT: Just finished the entire album I must say!!! 8)
I like it, Will defo be spinning this for a while.
-
that Requiem for a Dream sample in Intro is dope 8)
-
that Requiem for a Dream sample in Intro is dope 8)
could be the best cut off the album lol.
not dissing the album at all, but the Intro is just so sick lyrically & "beatally". ;D

Yeah, yeah. It took me a while to adjust to Budden's music. When I hear a remix by Kickdrums and then compare it to his og work, I end up shaking my head.

here's a somewhat mastered version by a fan, it's a smaller file size but already sounds somewhat better

This is what Mood Muzik 3 shoulda been...
that's a strong claim; i really respect that opinon though.
Joe sounds angry on almost every track, givin' real substance here.
definatly better than Halfway House, but i was on the fence about it being better than Padded Room.
i've bumped it four times already today, bumping it again as i type lol; a few more spins & we might have a clear cut winner here. :P
is it just me or is the Intro out of this world compared to most rap?

Lol yeah basically.. I love whenever that song is sampled..
If you take away the last 3 tracks, (2 of them bonuses) I can listen to this all the way through.. This is the kinda music I want from Joe. No long ass tracks either... I think what you said about Joe being hungry on every track makes this better than PR. Some of the songs were good, but the rest I didn't get the energy I wanted.. I heard Joe is gonna remaster this?? So I won't comment on the mastering..
Good shit.

Good shit.
my only true complaint is that Anti was hyped up to be this huge song & it was about a verse of something new & the rest was word for word from his Death of Autotune Freestyle. :-\
i didn't hear about him remastering it, but i'll definatly give that a peep to see if i hear any major improvments in sound.
my thing is, he's getting better with each release; i can only imagine what Great Escape is going to be. :o
he's drawn a model for how i want it to sound with this disc; i just want a little something more & for it to drop this year (not happening). :P
if it were to make a late Decemeber release though, that would be four albums dropped by Joey in one year, including the Slaughterhouse album. :o
-
Yeah, he's putting in work, but not Lil Wayning it either..
It really shows that Joe should be on a major.. If he had the budget at his disposal to get the equipment/producers... Imagine some of these beats mastered so much better, and maybe live instrumentation added to them.. His vocals sounding crystal clear.. Self-titled had 3 gems, and where he's at now with his songwriting, I bet he could put out a real good album the second time around.
Until then, or if that doesn't happen, I'm more than happy with these type of releases.

I agree with all the opinions expressed. He deserves to have the funding of a major label. It seems he got blackballed due to Jay-Z.
I got into this lame ass argument with a Game stan about how Game doesn't have the right to diss Jay-Z unlike someone like Budden who's career got fucked over sideways for a minute. Yet, Budden still gives Jay his props where as a bitch ass lame like Game just disses him. I hate that mutherfucka.
I keep saying this but I expect the Great Escape to be the bomb. Budden's masterpiece till date. If it's not, if it's anything less than amazing I will be disappointed. From the sound of it, he'll be fucking with some dope producers which is what he's been missing.
He just needs to make a hot single. A lot of his fans will probably look down on that statement but boy needs a song that he can present to the world. If I had to choose a single for Escape Route it would be Freight Train.
I want a track of just him and Joell trading verses like the minor glimpse we got to see on The One.

Someone was saying that Joe said on his video blog that he was working on remastering this himself. Anyone know if that's correct?
-
He said that.he said amalgam hired someone that was supposedly amazing at mastering and this was his test run.He failed horribly. But he also said he was going to get padded room re mastered and its been a long time.
-
Wow what a great album!! This is Joey at his best!! This reminds me of Mood Music 2 and that is a great thing. I am so impressed with this release, the into is crazy.

the fact joe has dropped 4 albums in less than 1 year is amazing
-
I feel sorry for the people or should i say sheep that base their judgements on joe just on the hate he gets. They miss out on some incredible music.

i think its safe to say that whoever mastered the last couple of albums is somewhat tone def and has no idea how to work the treble/sharp tools. lol

09. We Outta Here (feat. Royce da 5'9", Joell Ortiz & Crooked I)
Produced by StreetRunner
14. For You (feat. Royce Da 5'9")
Produced by Bink!
Did myself a favour, and only downloaded these 2.. both should have made the SH-album, especially track 14, with added Crooked & Ortiz verses.

I don't know, man. I know you're not really a Budden fan, but this album is pretty good. I'm glad you checked these two tracks out, anyway.
-
Unreal album.

This is a really good mixtape, sounds like an album. Im feellin just about every track. That "We Outta Here" track is a banger, gonna pound in the whip!!!

Still bumping this as an album. Every track.
-
FINALLY got around to bumping it and I think it may be his best work so far. I loved Padded Room as well, but this is overall more consistent I would say; and Budden is rapping better verses on here. Funny the Slaughterhouse track is probably the worst cut
As big of a fan I am of Budden, I don't blame Amalgam Digital for the mastering, I blame him. Take matters into your own hands dude. Tash put out an album this year on the very same Amalgam Digital, go listen to the mixing and mastering on that shit; crystal clear as fuck. Why? Because he didn't trust some random dude that Amalgam handled - he brought on his own team (mostly J-Beam & E. Swift) and that shit came out perfect. I'm sure Budden could do the same.

he said he is personally mastering Great Escape & the guy at Amalgam SUCKS lol.
but he said that about Padded Room & he didn't master it, so we'll see lol.
-
^well i wonder if he is any good at mastering; that may be a bad idea lol. Not every artist could master. He is fucking Joe Budden for crying out loud lol, it can't be that difficult for him to find a GOOD professional 2 do it.
Tash did.

if people bitch about the mastering on his CD's i doubt he would put it in his own hands & do a worse job; he probably knows what he is doing.
but yeah, he should give it to Dre; Joey got Royce, Royce got Em, Em got Dre. :D

-
Listen, how much longer you expect me to be degraded by niggas that can't appreciate being appreciated?
Ya'll made this beef related. One less person to judge just one more problem alleviated.
- State of You
His flow is insane on State of You. Matter of fact that beat is insane. It switches up nicely between each set of verses. Certain elements just need to be turned up so you can appreciate the instrumentation more.
Bad contract, teams can't make a trade
majors fucking you in the ass
nigga, you going to stay a slave
5'9 is in my ear saying hey behave
but shit is fucked up and I blame it on the way it was paved
I'll chill for the sake of your age
You're great live but let me know when the stage gets appraised
All in, raising the stakes
Swear you and your label should pray
Thank God I was placed in this decade by a mistake
I don't belong here, Dad fucked Mom in the wrong year
Wrong peers amongst niggas with wrong ears
Wrong dancing, funny sounds - every song sounds weird
Wrong fashion, it's like everyone's gone queer
Be clear, I ain't hear to be fronting
You can dislike me, I ain't here to pretend
Run but you can't hide
I can't lie, I told niggas in the first two bars I was anti
- Anti
How can you hate on that? it's pure dope
-
the sample for State of You was sick.
& if that wasn't a clear shot at Meth on Anti (it was an old verse from the Joey's DOA Freestyle), i must be on something lol.
sick album! 8)
-
I know that's why i was og disappointed with anti because the beat was lacking for reused lyrics but DAMN THOSE LYRICS ARE DOPE
-
What's the word.. Is he gonna re-release it?
-
I have only heard Intro on youtube so far but wtf, this mixing is horrible, this sounds worse than the mixing on padded room, i want to hear this the way it should be heard
-
Its a dope street album, Joey at his best but the mastering/mixing is pathetic and it really ruins it, he should just get it fixed instead of making excuses, PR and HH both had the same problem so its not like its a new thing, he should stop being cheap fucker and get it done right ffs, lol at anyone who buys these 'albums'
-
Was PR's mixing ever sorted out? i read in an interview that it was being addressed but never saw any confirmation?
-

It was an in-house dude doing it, and they aren't letting him do it anymore..
So if ER was a different person. we can then now assume it is the mixing, and not the mastering.
You can't master something to sound good when it was mixed too poorly.
Possible problems:
1) Joe wants a certain sound with his music
2) Joe doesn't wanna spend the time to cooperate with the third party to achieve that sound
3) He and his people end up trying to do it during the mixdown, and fuck it up for everyone.
P.S.
OR
4) He really does have bad luck with engineers, and/or he and Amalgam are cheap fucks.
-
Was PR's mixing ever sorted out? i read in an interview that it was being addressed but never saw any confirmation?
It was an in-house dude doing it, and they aren't letting him do it anymore..
So if ER was a different person. we can then now assume it is the mixing, and not the mastering.
You can't master something to sound good when it was mixed too poorly.
Possible problems:
1) Joe wants a certain sound with his music
2) Joe doesn't wanna spend the time to cooperate with the third party to achieve that sound
3) He and his people end up trying to do it during the mixdown, and fuck it up for everyone.

4) He really does have bad luck with engineers, and/or he and Amalgam are cheap fucks.
Sounds about right.

Leak is on point like usual
And I think this is the best album over the year!! Even above Padded Room and the Slaughterhouse album.
-
TORENO (had to edit this mofo's name) and I have examined the before and after, and pause the laughter, they retailed the disc did it right quick, and it sounds like music you could bump in the whip.
Cop that new Retail CD rip for the better mixing/mastering jumpoff.
-
Cop the retail, LOADS better mixing.

Great listen if you don't like joe budden that's cool (speaking in general) but to say he isn't a dope lyricist is admitting you don't listen.
Certainly in my 10 top rappers right now
-
Just picked up my hardcopy they had about 5 of them at the hmv by me.I also picked up saigon warning shots 2 but was severely disapointed with it.Too many wack songs on it.
-
i just wish they woulda fixed up ortiz's verse on we outta here, shit sounds terrible
-
Ortiz verse was terrible regardless. His lyrics were subpar and his flow was a mess, didnt flow with the beat at all.
