Anyone besides me still bumpin this album? Great shit for the westcoast summertime! 8)
-
every saturday its in rotation...
-
I bump Oooh!, Fuck Y'all, and Hey Playa on the regular, at least a couple times per week. I also bump The Appeal, Blakqout, Cream in Your Panties, and Do You Know pretty frequently. Blaqkout is a classic album in my opinion. It has some bad songs, and it should have been longer, but it contains some of the single greatest songs of the past decade.

still bumpin that album, project had plenty of bangers... 8)
-
I'm still enjoying it.

9x10, I'll listen to it again.

Nah I'm not one of these fans that forces themself to like something. I thought it was trash 2 years ago, I think its trash now.
I have some great memories while bumpin "hey playa", I just can't believe that's been 2 years already.
-
damn it's been 2 years since I graduated lol time flies, I remember bumping this in the last few weeks of school when it dropped
I still play it here and there and since its now summer it will be picking up even more play again in the ride 8)
-
trash? ummm...yea.
the album was real good... pretty slept on, as well. 'hey playa' shoulda had commercial success. a couple whack tracks, but the bangers more than make up for it.
-
Dope fun/summer vibe album always gets spins when i'm in that mood. Delivers every time :)
-
some great songs on there - but Kurupt didnt blend well wit Quik imo.
music of Quik is too west coast
i liked the J. Wells and Tekneek-albums better.

it really wasnt. overrated and only loved on dubcc.

I remember it getting a lot of hate on dubcc as it wasnt the quik they wanted. To me it was dope 2 years ago and still is now.

the best 4-5 tracks on here are absolutely bananas! not a classic LP as a whole and underated for that reason, but deffo still getting spins for many years to come.
-
It was aight!
-
that shit was garbarge.... 2 good tracks on there.
-
Cream N Ya Panties is one of Quik's best beats. That track never went out of rotation for me since the album dropped.

I actually listened to it today for the first time in months (didnt like it when i first heard it)
Actually has 5 solid bangers on here, overlooked this album a lot. gonna listen to it more often now
-
I still enjoy the album. Some people might hate but outside of it being a little short and them including two versions of the same song, I really fucking liked it. Can't please everyone but $10 well spent for me.

For me, a typical Quik cd.. A few bangers and a couple of joints that make me say" what is dude thinking".... Just kind of "up and down" and for me that is DJ Quik.No doubt one of the best to ever have done it but there are reasons why dude is considered more of a "west coast" producer. I know alot of you will disagree with that. Alot of you will also praise him and say he never "sold out".

I'm still enjoying it.

Still bumping "Hey Playa" til this day - shit is fire 8)
-
9X Outta 10 still goes hard, but I expected so much more from both of these great artists!
-
super nice album for sure
-
musically, it is still one of the best west coast albums that dropped within the last 2-3 years... lyrically it should have been way better and the album had way more potential as a whole in general. i said it back then and i say it now, if they wouldn't have put "Whatcha Won Do" on it twice and if they wouldn't have leaked about 2/3 of the songs already before the release and if they would have put like 2 more really good tracks on it, it could have been amazing. but in my honest opinion, especially kurupt blew it with his lyrics and i usually like kurupt. but he was too lazy on most of these songs. i didnt expect great lyrics from quik anyway so i blame kurupt for the most part. i dig the lyrics on "do you know", "hey playa", "9x outta 10" and "fuck yall". on the production side i think the albums is really great besides "whatcha won do". i also like the musical part on "exodus" but they could have at least put some singing on it. and "jupiters critic and the mind of mars" woulda been dope if they didnt use that wack vocoder.
So to me, it's also crazy that it's already 2 years since it dropped. I still play some of them songs now and then, especially when the weather is nice, but the album was disappointing as a whole because it had the potential to be a lot better and they blew it.
book of david >> blaqkout imo

my god that shit was 2 years ago?
-
It got my number 1 spot for album of the yr 2009.
Seven quality tracks. I have said it time and time again, this album was a summertime anthem. Blaqkout, Cream in Ya Panties, Ooh, Do you know, Hey Playa, Fuck Ya'll, 9 x ouit of 10 and The Appeal.
Amazing tracks!
This album was one of the best in a while. Nothing since has surpassed it for me.
Book of David got close.

i think BOD is definitely better overall, it's slowly burning in as a classic here. there's so much quality on it, more consistent than Blaqkout. but standout wise, Hey Playa!, Cream N Ya Panties, Fuck Y'all, The Appeal are up there with all the best tracks on BOD like Do Today, Luv Of My Life, So Compton. there's nothing as bad as Wat Cha Wan Do on BOD tho. both albums make a great collection of current era Quik 8)

Lol makes me smile when people say Quiks a dope producer but BlaQKout was garbage...like it's so different from the usual Quik
-
KURUPT AND QUIK ARE LEGENDS BUT THAT ALBUM IS WACK LMAO
-
absolutely still listening to this album. just banged the hell out of this over memorial day weekend at the beach. i thought kurupt was kind of lame, but quik's lyrics were entertaining as hell (as usual) and the production was coconuts. dope ass album that will always get spins from me....especially come summertime!
-
"DO YOU KNOW" gets a spin from me every once in a while -- I think the video is one of the best of all time -- it's got that west vibe all the way -- 9 times out of 10 has a dope beat but I really havent listened to it in a long long time
-
I'm still enjoying it.
