is 2pac, i mean thats how i heard of rap, from 2pac. In the middle east they don't play or sell alot of rap. When 2pac greatest hits was released , i came to a lot about rap and all. The usual stuff they played at that time was coolios gangstas paradise and 2pac's changes. So 2pac is pretty famous.

i agree with you...but i have to say that i think eminem is just as famous as pac is. i mean i have never heard anyone say "who's eminem" and if you think about it...the punk/gothic ppl dont like 2pac and most of them love eminem. hes just such a crazy motherfucker that hes made enough of a name for himself for everyone to know who he is and have heard atleast 2 or 3 songs.

yeah he does but em has the same. i know a bunch of them lol...and most famous doesnt necessarily mean more records sold. pac has sold more but as far as being famous...everyone knows them both and there are a lot of ppl who have never and would never buy a pac album that would and have bought eminem albums...and viceversa

You guys are crazy. Snoop is the most famous rapper in the world. You want proof? Ask somebody old if they've ever heard of Tupac, or eminem, I'll guarantee you they've heard of Snoop Doggy Dogg. I know old white Jewish women who know who Snoop is. Eminem's nowhere close, and Tupac didn't cross over as much as Snoop did.

Eminem gets props for being big, but if you were around in 93 when Snoop came out, you'd know that Snoop was bigger then than Eminem is now.

100% agreed! Even though Em is really big right now, back in 93 rap wasn't nearly as universal as it is today so snoop basically singlehandedly brought ten million listeners to the rap game and basically became the most popular rapper of that time and overall is still one of the most popular, but his popularity in 93 was MUCH bigger than Em's is now.

exactly my point! both of them brought non hip-hop fans to the rap game but my real point was that there was MANY more people back in 93 that hated rap and only got into it because of Snoop, nowadays theres a lot of rap fans and not as many haters.

yeah thas totally true! dre always brings a rapper to the game but isn't as recognized jsut like he did with Snoop and Em, Both of them are more recognized than Dre is.

Well, if we take a look at the question it says Famous rapper in THE WORLD. You tend to think USA=World. But there are a couple more countries out there I think.
So I'm speaking from an european point of view. I'm from Spain and I'm telling you I'd shave my nutz if I ever heard Snoop Dogg on the radio here. Only hiphop shit that got ever played here is Eminem and Coolio. Well, and Mc Hammer...
So yeah, Eminem is BY FAR the more famous rapper in the world. 2pac was way more talented, legendary, anything you want, but he aint more famous, accept that. I remember one day I said something to a friend about 2pac and the told me "yeah, they were good"......I said "WHAAAT? 'THEY'???? You dont even know tha fuck you talkin bout". And it's like that, I dont blame the ignant ass kid, it's just that them aint gettin no repercussion outside tha US (and excludin Germany or the UK, where they play Hiphop kinda often too).

''Beautiful'' is the only Snoop track getting played over here in the Netherlands. And I even doubt I ever heard that one on the radio.The only rap getting on the radio over here is shit like Ja Rule,Nelly,Eminem(by far the best of these)...you know,the commercial eastcoast/dirty south stuff.I nearly had a fit when they played ''keep their heads ringin''!!!.Now that's great stuff! And then there's the latter-day,commercialized,badly produced, 2Pac of course. All in all,really nothing special.TV's just the same.The worst thing is,you have to watch this program by this incredibly fake and wack Dutch rapper to get to see some good videos.I saw WC's ''The Streets'' for the first (and probably last) time something like a month ago.I was stunned.......WESTCOAST SHIT ON TV!!! :o :o :o :o

Ok i'm gonna settle this right here right now...i went to walla walla Washington for the weekend...while i was there me and my friend mandy brought some music..of course i had pac greatest hits and i had eminem-the slim shady lp...the person we went to visit new exactly who eminem was (no surprise there)...what surprised the fuck out of me is that she was the only person i had ever met that had not a fuckin clue who pac was...i put on california love and she had never heard it in her life...i thought she was fuckin crazy but the first thing i thought of was this thread...whos more famous? an 18 year old teenage girl knows who em is and doesnt know who pac is...em by far. as far as snoop and dre and puffy...FUCK NO!!!!

People like who they can relate to, and that is Eminem in Europe and the U.S. BUT NELLY is the most famous rapper in the world. I know people from Latin America, and Africa, and they all say Nelly is the most played artist there, and they don't know much about Eminem. I guess Asia would be the tie breaker, but Latin America is bigger than the U.S. and Africa is bigger than Europe. In devolped nations, Eminem, in the real world, Nelly. Now that is painful to say, because I personally would pick Eminem over Nelly. Now is 2Pac bigger than Eminem, world wide, HELL YEAH. Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America, I hear everyone mention 2Pac, and talk about his artist genious. Nelly most famous alive, 2Pac most famous ever. I think though that soon 50 Cent and Eminem will take over Nelly soon, at least I hope.

Talk to people outside the US and Europe. They love Nelly. I have no clue why. One person from Latin America said that Nelly is the only hip-hop they knew until they came to the US. I personally hate Nelly. That is not a very nice statement for me to make, but it's true. As for Eminem, his really popular in Europe and the US. In Africa, the people I know from there like Nelly, that's the biggest artist there. US and Europe have the money, so they say Eminem sells more. Latin America and Africa have the people, so they say Nelly is more popular. Honestly they don't think of it like that, but in the end that's what it is. 2Pac is the only artist I know that everyone I know from different countries agree is the best. Everyone knows 'Pac, and if he was alive I would say he is the most popular. Hell, he is dead. But he is an American rebelling against the US, and in the rest of the world, that puts him in very high standings. After all, many people hate the US, and to have an artist like 'Pac, it shows the rest of the world exactly what AmeriKKKa is all about.

Im tellin you...eminem all the way...everybody knows who eminem is...you could be 3 years old or 100 years old and you know who he is...there are a hell of a lot of adults that love eminem where as you'd be hard pressed to find more than a few who like pac...and i bet if you talked to a little kid and asked him if he knew who eminem is he'd spit some of his lyrics for you...if you asked him if he knew who 2pac was he'd look at you like you were nuts...young kids dont necessarily know, and old ppl arent exactly big into the hip hop scene...but when you hear eminem EVERYWHERE you go...he tends to become the one that everybody knows and recognizes.
