DJ Premier confirmed to HipHopDX that the long awaited, almost mythical PRhyme 2 was done last November. Now, it looks like the Royce Da 5’9 and Preemo collab has a release date. As listed on the Fat Beats website, the album is expected to arrive on March 16 and pre-orders are available now.
The tracklist, cover art and featured artists will be revealed the first week of February as stated on the website.
Preemo and Nickel Nine dropped the original PRhyme in 2014 to critical acclaim. In fact, DX dubbed it Album of the Year in 2014.
DX reached out to Premier who was not immediately available for comment.

Flawless track fiiiire!

If the first PRhyme was released in the 90's, we'd be nutting about it today. Give it 10 years, one of the better albums in years & years.
Expect the same with 2. Wild though that my biggest fear is Eminem's feature lmao.

Word, I'd actually much rather see Em on a Primo-beat, than some Alex Da Kid beat, or even Rick Rubin, these days.

I'm curious to hear it. Knowing how off beat Em sounds most of the time these days, I wouldn't be shocked if he cut the beat & went accapella lmao.

"This track really need a 2 Chainz verse"... said nobody, ever. ::)
Well, it's hard to sound bad on a knocking Primo-beat, def. heard him worse.
At least he didn't ruin the track, like Future did with "King's Dead" with Jay Rock & Kendrick.
I need this album in my life.
Said every hip hop fan with good taste. 8)

-

This album deserves more than two pages of discussion. Disrespectful lol.

Yup.
On first few listens, it's dope, but probably not as dope as the first one, which is a (personal) classic.
Standouts after 2-3 listens:
4. Era (Ft. Dave East)
5. Respect My Gun (Ft Roc Marciano)
6. W.O.W. (With Out Warning) (Ft Yelawolf)
14. Flirt (Ft 2Chainz)
The first one had Ab-Soul, Common, Jay Elec, Schoolboy, Slaughter, Joey Badass, Black Doom, Phonte, MF Doom, Logic...
To compete with that, they would have to grab Kendrick, J.Cole, Pusha T, Joyner Lucas, Pharoahe Monch, Nipsey, Jay Rock..
Not that a Royce/Preme album really needs guests.. Royce been killing everything lately.
"Y'all wanna know who the best is? Look around at who alive and who done died
(Then what?) Then look at me, Kendrick Lamar and Pusha T
Em and the Slaughters, y'all don't have to look any farther for the rhymers"
-
Yeah, I probably enjoyed the first one more. But just because of the type of sound they went for. Royce probably had more to say on this album, where last album they were just slaughtering classic Preme sounding beats.
So dope no matter how you slice them. Hope there is more from them.

Yeah, the first one was a classic for me too.
Now I waiting for Royce's upcoming album "Book of Ryan". I hope it's coming this year. 8)
Here's a playlist that I make with the two PRhyme releases. 8)

I actually haven't heard the first one in a long time so I may have to bring it out... side-note, I'm now reminiscing when I saw these dudes live at SXSW and how they crushed shit

I got my copy and have listened a few times over. It's a big album with plenty of the same formula that made the first PRhyme album such a solid listen.
It could have done with a couple of tracks skimmed off the second half (and more Premier scratch collages too), but the first half is crammed full of brilliant tracks.
Hopefully, they do as Run The Jewels did and make this project a trio.

2 Chainz had one of the best verses on this album
