Title: Why do people follow the bible and take it seriously?
Post by: Triple OG Rapsodie on June 30, 2009, 05:52:26 PM
...when it was written by all these different men (some we dont' even know who they were) and collected by another group of men and formed into a collection, then passed down and constantly revised for hundreds of years? How could it even possibly be close to the word of god?

Why do faggots have to walk over other peoples beliefs??? Honestly, I'm sick of Ahiest talking about about religious fucks, and I'm sick of Religious fucks trying to convert people. Believe what you want to believe, but don't push your beliefs on other mother fuckers...

I never said I was an atheist. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything so how am I pushing my beliefs on anyone? I'm not shitting on anyone's religion. I'm just asking why people interpret the bible literally when it was written by men.

most sensible religious people (they exist!) read the stories as purely allegorical parables and learn lessons about life from them and just like *belief* in god they *believe* that this is the word of god passed down

lol you juz contradicted yourself. your pushing your own opinion by discrediting the religious by saying its written by man.

no shit its written by man, the whole religion is based on faith. atleast know bout the religous before you make yourself look like a fool.

See I get why people would do that but a lot of people believe in it religiously. This question was targeted more towards them. The type of people who take quotes out of the bible (a lot of times out of context) to try and back up whatever their opinion is.

EDIT: the bible WAS written by man you fool. How is that contradicting and pushing my beliefs? I'm stating fact. And its also been shown that man can lie and makes stuff up (he certainly does in today's society, doesn't he?) I haven't even said what I believe. I'm just pointing out things. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

People follow it for all the wrong reasons. Mainly fear.  Kids believe in Santa Claus because they are afraid they wont get the presents the want at Christmas...until some adult explains to them that Santa is not real. He is make believe.  Imagine if there were no rational adults to explain that to young children. They'd become adults that believed in such a ridiculous idea of a fat man from the North Pole watching over everyone to see who's naughty and nice, and swoops down in one night to bring presents to EVERYone lol. Seems so silly for adults to believe such an obviously made up character huh?  Not like God and that Jesus character. Their existence makes so much more sense... :-\

..parables and learn lessons about life from them..
I agree.

I believe The Bible whole heartily, of course not word for word, becuz it's logically been edited over centuries, as it went thru different languages and all, but I do believe in it, regardless. I quote it. Live by it. I think it's a great read. I love that shit. I love inspiration. I think that shit is great. I don't imagine a person who believes in God is weak-minded, I consider them to be strong-minded to have faith in somethang unseen. Now don't get me wrong niggas, there's different kinds of people and religious nutz out there who take it to a whole nother level. I personally think Born Again Christians are fuckin' crazy, in my honest opinion to name one. LOL. But if you a sensible human and could take the overall meaning of it into consideration, good for you. Really.

My thought process is like, how could you deny God? Like for real. Spirituality is a good look to me. I salute people men. Faith is important to have in ya life. If you need it, too. The Bible do say that faith is the substance of things hoped for and it's the evidence of things not seen. So fuck, I guess at this day and age, it shows you got SOME kind of strength to trust in somethang that the naked eye can't see.

I don't know. I love negro spirituals. I love old fashioned gospel songs. I love when people look to God honestly for themselves, not ones who just do it, to DO IT, you know what I'm sayin'? Preachers are wack. From all religions. They are more hypocritical than any of the followers. That's why I say, you gots to read The Bible for YOU. Read yourself. Find meaning in it for YOUR self. Interrupt it for YOUR self.

Shitttt, ya'll can argue how hypocritical these people are, 'followers of God', I'm FUCKIN' WIT YOU. I'm wit you. Trust in that. People who go to Church. People who pray....for just themselves. All these people who claim to be 'believers' but who disobey all God's laws. I don't care how much you use the excuse of human nature. Ya know. I can understand that.

Yeah I do have my opinions about Atheists, obviously as a person who do believe in God. But I mean everybody has rights and are entitled to beliefs so I can't say much, really. I ain't one of those people to push anythang on anybody, I don't like them preachers and Bible quoters who go around lookin' dumb, talkin' dumb. You can be just as faithful by sittin' in your bedroom all alone, havin' a one on one.

From another view...I won't front, I go back and forth wit it all the time. Like for one whole week I'll be constantly praying and living by a verse or somethang and than the next week get real discouraged and forget about it, until maybe another week and get a change of hope again. Not that I'm becoming agnostic or nuthin' just becoming hopeless. But that's when you read it again. Inspiration.

Anyways, but yup, I'm one of them who reads The Bible and takes it seriously so...hey. There's my opinions in type.

If you're wondering why people don't believe in the bible. My thought process is this. man is infallible. We know this. Man has lied and made stuff up before, and done fucked up things. This goes on everywhere, no matter how holy a place claims to be. (the Catholic Church and the child molestations for example). Now you have to imagine that this kind of thing is worse the further back in history we go (though it may not seem like it at times, we are making progress as a society). Not to mention people were a lot more gullible back then (people believed in witchcraft not too long ago). If some guy wrote a book in today's society and said it was the word of god we would all laugh at him. In my mind there's a good reason to doubt its authenticity.

I don't agree with everything in the bible, but it teachers morals.
Morals are what differentiates us from animals

It also is something to hang on to in bad times, it's something that says, it's going to be okay.

Somewhat. For one, there is no black and white when it comes to morals. One mans morals might be anothers evils and they could both be right. There are some people out there that are able to take the bible, or any other religious book, and simply use it to better themselves without all the other bullshit. But thats a rare individual. Most people feel they cannot question things in their bible without also questioning their god lol.  One could easily say the bible teaches people to judge, and even hate others who dont believe what you do.

yes but those people lack uhm whats the word.... oh right.. intelligence

People don't realize that those books were written in different times.
Like the Jihad, that was because Mohamed was hunted on in his own time. It was just a way to survive.
Jews can't eat pork because the thora says it. The thora says it because some time in Jewish history people were getting sick off the pork, people would only stop eating it when 'god' said it.

The most hypocritical thing in the bible is the 'no gambling' rule. In this one story in the bible God actually has a bet with Satan to prove Satan that people will be loyal to God eventhough god might have to take loved ones away from them. (the story with JOB)

I think Dead Prez said it best:

Quote
Man made god, outta ignorance and fear
If God made man, then why the hell would he put us here?
I thought hes supposed to be the all loving
The same God who let hitler put the jews in the oven
We dont fall for the regular shit, they try to feed us
All this half-ass leadership, flippin position
They turn politcian and shut the hell up and follow tradition
For your tv screen, is telling lies to your vision
Every channel got some brainwashed cop shit to watch
Running up in niggas cribs claiming that they heard shots
Its a plot, but busta can you tell me whos greedier?
Big corporations, the pigs or the media?
Sign of the times, terrorism on the rise
Commercial airplanes, falling out the sky like flies
Make me wonder what secrets went down with bob brown (? )
Who burnt churches to the ground with no evidence found?
Its not coincidence, its been too many studied incidents
It coulda been the klan who put that bomb at the olympics
But it probably was the fbi, deep at the call
Cuz if they make us all panic then they can start martial law

So if an adult never told you Santa wasn't real you'd still believe in Santa?

I guess you're as stupid as your post is then. Most kids I grew up with just figured out Santa wasn't real. We didn't need a sit down explanation. Kids simply outgrow certain things. Scoffing at the idea of God when many of the world's most reasonable and intelligent people belive in God is simply ignorant on your part. Santa was made up as a story and admitted as such. By all historical accounts the early Christians believed in Jesus and died for real to promote them. It was never implied anywhere in history that Jesus was allegory to them and they didn't really believe. No one died defending Kris Kringle.

there are a couple of reasons why people believe in this shit. one is fear. people are afraid of death. they are afraid of what could happen to them. other people believe they will get more out of life if they believe...you know like it cures depression. then you got people who've always believed...they became brainwashed at an early age and there really is no turning bacc. out of these three i'd say fear is probably the strongest. niggas is bitches. thats how it's always been. humans are weak and when you think about it it's really not surprising they invented this thing called god...i'm sure it makes people feel good all over the world. but why feel good about bullshit?. why not accept reality and live your life like a real nigga would. let a playa play nigga.

You don't worry about death? So if you're chilling in the park enjoying the day and some dude rolls up and starts firing shots every where, you're just going to sit tight and not care if a bullet hits you? Or are you going to find cover and avoid getting hit? Just about everyone is afraid of death and value their life. Religious people just take it a step further and want to make sure they don't die after they die.

I've said something in an older thread that sums up what I want to say again;

We have so much and bask in it that we can easily just live our lives to the fullest. Go tell some kid who is going to live his entire life in a caged off garbage dump picking scraps and giving them to his masters for food and to avoid being tortured to "stop worrying and enjoy your life". I don't know if there is a God, but I sure as fuck hope there's one. Not for me. If I live my 80+ years in the lifestyle I live it maybe when it's all over I won't care if there's a God. But there are hundreds of millions to billions of people that really suffer ann don't have time to debate theologies. They just suffer, and they hope there's a God.

So go scoff at those that believe in a better life. Laugh at them. Feel sorry for them for being stupid. Whatver you want. But you've never faced endless suffering. You get to sit in front of a computer and browse the web. There are young children in the world sold as sex slaves from 3 or 4 years old an dieing of STDs before they ever even hit puberty. Go tell them not to sweat death. Tell them that they can liberate themselves by accepting that there's no God.

its the best thing homie...you dont worry about death...you just accept shit the way it is. if anything being an atheist is the most liberating thing. thats how i see it..if niggas wanna believe in god..fine..believe in god. just leave me out of it.

I've said something in an older thread that sums up what I want to say again;

Tell them that they can liberate themselves by accepting that there's no God.

why worry about death homie?. everybody gonna die sooner or later. if niggas start shootin at cuzz then of course i will do everything in my power to survive that shit. look homie..i love life and love being alive. but that dont mean im scared of death...cuz i ain't. as for endless suffering..u think everybody who done suffered greatly believe in god?. my uncle spent almost 10 years fightin cancer...nigga couldnt eat...work...fucc..all he did was throw up...i used to send cuzz money..and believe me that nigga did suffer some unimaginable pain. he survived though. and no he didnt believe in god before or after. to him...god is bullshit. And the lil kids who is living hell right now..the last thing they need is some bullshit god. let kids be kids homie.

From songs to praised scriptures, death is fuckin' glorified. So us not 'accepting the inevitable' was a real dumb statement.

Just like 'you die and just die'. What the fuck? You die and that's it? LMAO. Right. What a way better belief. ::)

It's not a belief, son; it's TRUTH.  I "believe" in nothing; I accept fact and fact alone.  What is not empirically true does not interest me.

C-Blue is right.  Religious people ARE afraid of death, so they believe in God because they want to think that if they do all the right things (according to what some book says), then their death won't be for nothing.

Why be afraid of death anyways? If your soul lives on...

I accept fact and fact alone.
Well, I don't know where you get the FACT, that when you die, there's nothang after that. There's no proven fact of yours, as there's no proven fact of mines.

Why be afraid of death anyways? If your soul lives on...

One thing I've always wondered is why people who say they believe in god are still scared of death and grieve for their loved ones just like everyone else. If you truly believe without a doubt that when you die you are going to a better place, you should be welcoming death because you will live in eternal happiness. And you should be happy for your deceased loved ones that they are finally out of this world that has caused many people so much suffering. But these same people cry like its the end of the world when a loved one dies, and they act like they are scared to die. This is why I think a lot of so-called religious people aren't as faithful as they claim to be, or in the very least have some serious doubts.

That could be said about a million thangs. Of course, you gonna be sad when you lose a loved one. If you was married to a man for 60 years and he dies, of course you gon be upset. You was wit the man for 60+...now you gotta live without him. Regardless of knowing he's at peace in the greatest place religious people glorify.

There's 2 sides to everythang. Come on now homie. For real.

First off I'm not gay...

Second, if I had been married 60 years to a woman and then I found out we had to separate for a while, she was going to paradise and I would be able to spend eternity with her there in 5-10 years, yes it would be somewhat sad but I would not be acting like my life was over. I would be looking forward to that shit, not crying and reminiscing about the past.

No, I wouldnt still believe in Santa. Which is why I am able to understand that religion is completely bullshit as well.  Adults fear death just as children do. They dont fear getting coal in their stockings the same way children do.  People become completely stupid and tend to believe in anything that will comfort them when they are in fear.  More intelligent people understand this, which is why the more intelligent people invented this scam in the first place.  Does it matter if people who you consider "intelligent" believe in God? No. Does it make God any more real? lol Definetely not. There are intelligent people who think a rabbits foot brings them good luck. Does that mean its logical to believe rabbits feet are lucky? The "idea" of God has not, and never will be proven because it is fake.  If you need to cling to a higher being like a baby does a security blanket to make you feel better about the fact that when you die...it will be OVER. Then go ahead. Thats your choice. Just don't get upset when logical people look at you and laugh.

What do you mean by you cannot possibly die and that's it? All that means is your mind cannot accept the logical likely hood that your mind/identity will cease to exist after your body dies. People are probably terrified of the thought that you cease to exist after death. They feel like their entire lives will have been meaningless if they don't live on in some form. I know how this feels, because I have gone through it. But trust me, once you learn to accept death, life is actually a lot more enjoyable. You are born, you die. Whats important is what you do with the time in between and getting the best out of life.

I can respect that. It just seems like SUCH a far fetched story...Heaven, Hell, Invisible guy in the sky. I have a hard time believing IN it until there is proof.  You more then likely were raised under this belief, i wasnt. I wasnt raised not to believe in it either.  But from someone who hasnt been convinced of it yet, its similar to say, me telling you that when you die your sould turns into an invisible superhero armadillo.  You cant disprove it, I cant prove it. So you should believe its real because believing we just die is too crazy lol.

your soul is just another word for your identity. Your identity is merely your memories, stored in your brain. Your brain ceases to function, along with the rest of your body when you die.

Your identity lives on through the people who remember you and what you accomplished, but you yourself won't exist as an identity anymore. Your body will decay and go back into the earth, and become something else, but you as you know yourself will be gone. And yes, this is more logical than believing your identity will magically transfer out of your brain and fly into the sky into some magical place.

what are you talking about? You brought up the idea of the soul. The word "soul" to me means your memories, your self identity and awareness (this is what most people think of as a soul). These are functions of your brain and your brain dies along with your physical body.

Why do people follow the bible and take it seriously?

Because their fucking stupid and afraid of the truth. The Bible gives a purpose to people's lives. But the truth of it is, our lives are pointless. We'll be dead in 80 years, new animals of our species will take our places, and over tens of thousands of years, an insignificant period of time with respect to the age of the earth and universe, no one will remember who the fuck, anyone is. Life is pointless. Their is no afterlife, their is no hell, their is nothing. That's the truth. It's science, it's common sense, it's reality, and every single event in the history of man-kind says it's true. Enjoy it while we can, because that's all we'll ever have.

Don't you find it extremely arrogant that people think there's an afterlife? That their so fucking important that they'll be something after death for them? Fuck no. You're unimportant, I'm unimportant, Kobe is unimportant, Obama is unimportant. It's all unimportant. Our lives are meaningless. And anyone who thinks the human race has a greater purpose or is "special" should just go ahead and kill themselves. We're no more special then the millions of trees who keep us alive. No more special then a seagull eating out of a dumpster. We all go to the same place. We all decompose into the earth and our atoms assimilate into other things

When you think about it, I'm just a bunch of atoms, pushing buttons made of atoms, connected to a computer made of atoms. That's all we are. Their is no soul, their is mystical force. Their is nothing more, nothing less. And whoever thinks their is an afterlife, is seriously ignorant to almost every thread of common sense imaginable. So stop thinking we're special, and that we're going somewhere when we die. Not going to happen. Every event anyone has ever experienced in the history of mankind says so. Unless you believe some bullshit written 2000 years ago. And that would be really insane.

Tell them that they can liberate themselves by accepting that there's no God.

why worry about death homie?. everybody gonna die sooner or later. if niggas start shootin at cuzz then of course i will do everything in my power to survive that shit. look homie..i love life and love being alive. but that dont mean im scared of death...cuz i ain't. as for endless suffering..u think everybody who done suffered greatly believe in god?. my uncle spent almost 10 years fightin cancer...nigga couldnt eat...work...fucc..all he did was throw up...i used to send cuzz money..and believe me that nigga did suffer some unimaginable pain. he survived though. and no he didnt believe in god before or after. to him...god is bullshit. And the lil kids who is living hell right now..the last thing they need is some bullshit god. let kids be kids homie.

As far as my own mortal life, I don't worry about death. Your uncle suffered for a portion of his life and lived. I'm talking about kids that never knew joy and are dead. How am I or you supposed to let kids be kids when they spend their whole lives in shit and are now dead? The first thing a dead kid needs is God, not the last thing.

You said Santa and God are the same and you said adults tell children Santa is fake and that's why they stop believing. Now you're changing your stance.

Keep scoffing at the idea of religion and those "logical" people you hang out with and laugh with can laugh at Isaac Newton before they laugh at me. A man a lot smarter than maybe every athiest combined believed in the "idea" of God. He actually attributed his genius to God and called it a gift. It was the only way he could explain how he could see things in math and science that 99.9% of the rest of the world's smartest people couldn't even fathom.

I guess he wasn't that smart after all. Who needs physics and calculus anyway?

I don't laugh at or scoff at athiests. If you don't believe in anything after, fine by me. I don't think less of you or think you'll be punished. I simply chose to have faith in more from this world than what we have as humans from anywhere between 1 and 100 years. It doesn't change anything about the way I live my life. There is nothing I enjoy doing that I refrain from doing because I think God says it's wrong. If I fel it's right I'll do it. If I don't I won't

the king, therefore the bible/church etc...is a bidness?
would you agree?

Sure man. But I don't see the purpose. The people in charge of the church probably don't have some evil agenda. They probably believe every word of the shit.  What bothers me the most is how hypocritical religious people are. Isn't the majority of America religious? And if so, why is American a shit whole of morality? Isn't the point of religion to promote being a good and moral person? Look at the American culture today. Not one person can honestly say America is a moral country. What country has the most murders, most rapes, most violent crimes? And I bet most of these people committing these crimes believe in god.

Religion should bread selflessness. But instead, the majority of people are so concerned with their own personal wealth, their own personal problems, they could give a shit how their actions affect other people. I know so many people who spend every waking moment dwelling on their insignificant problems. Unless you have cancer, or you're child just died, or someone burned your house down, what real problems do you have? Very few.

My point is, religious people aren't all stupid, but the majority of people in general are. The majority of people are fucking dumb. And the majority of these dumb people, believe in idiotic things (like the Bible) to explain the shit they don't understand. Religion is a crutch for people who are either to stupid, or too lazy to realize, and learn the truth.

Hold up, becuz Atheists can't explain anythang more than we can.

If anybody is more arrogant and ignorant it's them, more than anybody else. Just look damn it. They think they are the smartest groups of people to walk God's green Earth. Calling religious people dumb. Like we retarded. Wait up a minute, how could you walk around believing everybody is unimportant. Again, it's crazy how ya'll quick to call stupidity on people, yet look at the ways ya'll minds operate.

What stats are you looking at? The US is not even close to the top of the list when it comes to muder, rape and violent crime rates. It's not the safest country in the world when it comes to that.

You say the US is supposed to be a religious country like every other country isn't. Name me all these non-religious countries to compare to the US.

As far as you bringing up Isaac Newton lol Are you serious?  You can be a relatively smart human being, even a genius and still believe in something completely illogical.  You think there are no geniuses that believe in a lucky rabbits foot, etc? lol

I am a firm believer in, do what you want as long as you dont hurt anyone. If you believe somehow that your religion makes you better, by all means...believe away. But dont pretend that because you live by a blind faith, you know the answer. You dont know the answer, just like me. The only difference is most religious nuts pretend to because some other man told them so. lol  I am completely secure in the fact that some things we are just incapable of understanding now.  1,000 years from now....if we havent become completely extinct, maybe man will have a much better understanding of things. At one point it made complete sense to believe the Earth was flat and that the Sun revolved around us.

And you say you dont believe a non believer will be punished. What religion are you?

And you say you dont believe a non believer will be punished. What religion are you?

You're denying what you said to avoid having to take it back. You said, not me, you, that people stop believing in Santa because adults tell them he's fake. We both agreed that is not the case and now you're changing what you said and trying to avoid saying you were wrong. When I'm wrong I admit it. (Ask NIK in the sports forum).

And now you're trying avoid that you distinguished between logical and intelligent. You said intelligent people understand God is fake and then you put the word under quotations to mock me and people I consider intelligent. Then I bring up Newton who is 100X more intelligent than anyone you can name so you change the stance to logical people and try and avoid the fact you said intelligent people.

Of course it is no more logical to be athiest than to be Christian. Atheists blindly believe in nothing and assert that God cannot be and Christian do the opposite. If you were agnostic you'd be logical. But logic is based on reason and when there is no solid proof for something there is no reasoning your way onto to either side.

Now you're trying to equate a stupid superstition that takes up no time and is more reflective of a person's quirkiness and try and compare it to deep faith in something very important. Newton didn't just believe in God to go along with shit and it wasn't a simple quirk to his personality. He spent much of his life studying and trying to decipher God and Jesus and what the Bible meant. There are very many very smart men and women that do the same. That's why God has nothing to do with Santa. It's not fear driving them. It's faith. You have faith, or you don't. You can't teach it or explain it. It doesn't prove that there is a God, but it shows that scoffing at people that believe in God is immature.

As to what I am, since you asked. I'm Christian. I believe in Jesus. I believe in what he said and how he lived. I believe he was the physical embodiment of God in the flesh. I was raised in and still attend the Greek-Orthodox Church. I think the Old Testament cannot be taken as anything more than morality tales and fiction and I feel the same about any and every writings of Paul in the new testament. I feel that since Jesus corrected Moses he would have corrected Paul. And as far as Jesus goes there is plenty of evidence to show that good people that don't believe in him are fine. I don't have a problem thinking the Gospels were tampered with because the Church, every church, contradicts what Jesus said time and again. If they were going to make it up, why not just make it up as they do things so they don't look like hypocrites? Unless that's just part of the plan to trick people. The bottom line is when I think of Jesus or read the scriptures I have and feel faith and I can't explain that.

I don't laugh at or scoff at atheists.

I didnt say Santa and God are the same. I said they are believed in for the same reason. Fear.  Children believe in Santa because they believe if they are good, and ask Santa for presents...they will get them. They believe if they are bad, they will get a stocking full of coal.  Likewise, people who believe in God (Im using religions such as Christianity as an example) believe for the same reasons. Heaven being Presents, Stocking full of coal being Hell.  Its obviously a device invented to keep people in line.  Its a political tool. Man is always afraid of what he can not understand. In order to ease those fears, you create an answer out of nothing.  Its far to difficult to simply say, "I dont know".  So instead you have this group who claims to know what NO one can in order to comfort their own insecurities.  Smart politicians play on those fears. As stupid as George Bush was, the people around him were smart enough to know that even in the 21st century you can control people with fear.  Imagine 1,000's of years ago.  NOBODY knows what happens after death and everyone fears it (admit it or not) so what easier tool to use to control people then to pretend to know the answer to THAT.

You're denying what you said to avoid having to take it back. You said, not me, you, that people stop believing in Santa because adults tell them he's fake. We both agreed that is not the case and now you're changing what you said and trying to avoid saying you were wrong. When I'm wrong I admit it. (Ask NIK in the sports forum).

Fuck dat I'm not going to give God credit for shit I do.

The thing about the bible I have most trouble understanding is hell:
If god is so easy to forgive you, why should I suffer for something I did in THIS life.

According to the book of death of buddist when you die you have 3 options:
-If you lived your life badly you will become an animal
-If you lived an average/good life you will become a human once more.
-If you lived a great life you will become a god.

I think Jesus became a god after his death.

To me jesus was a hero who made people live there lives right.
Back then people only would only do something against the law if a 'god' said it.
Jesus did study thora, and thought people would listen to him if he took on the role as the messiah.

The bible was edited allot because if christianity wanted to survive it needed 1 bible instead of many different cults with there own believes. In the gospels they chose to put in jesus was made to look more divine then he was.
To put it harshly: the disciples were jesus' posse and mary magdelin was his Girlfriend, Just like any of us.

The bible says gays should be put to death (Leviticus  20:13)
children who curse their parents should be put to death (Leviticus 20:9)
anyone who doesn't worship god should be put to death (Deuteronomy 13:6-10)

this is where you get your morals from?

Well there's your fear argument. Tell them they'd be put to death so we could prevent these acts from being committed.

Or

Like the 6th commandment says, thou shalt not murder. We, meaning you and me, him and her, are instructed NOT to murder. However, God himself is the all-powerful. 'Should be put to death'. Should, not 'will be'. Not 'will be' put to death. But should. They are not 'gonna be' put to death. Becuz we where told not to murder. But becuz of those acts and how vile they are, you should  be put to death. You should be killed for such thangs. Ya follow? It makes sense.

Like I said, it's all in how an INDIVIDUAL interrupts The Bible.

The new Testament is the 2nd part of the bible, not a replacement. Idiot...

I've denied it my whole Christian life. I'm Orthodox, not Protestant you twit. Our only use for the Torah is to show that it was prophecy for Jesus to come. Everything we believe in as Orthodox Christians. Everything we follow, worship, and pray with depends only on the New Testament and after. Where I stray from the pack is that I don't take antyhing Paul said that Jesus didn't say as unreliable. Jesus was the complete emodiment of God. The alpha and omega. Why would he leave anything out and need Paul to add to it? None of my priests could answer that for me to my satisfaction.

So now you're going to tell me the practises of my church? The one I've been going to since birth. The oldest Christian Church that still exists to this day. I've been to liturgy more times than I can count. On Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc. Not one time have I ever heard one mention of Moses, or King David. The preist never quotes Leviticus, or Exodus. There have even been movements with in the Church for centuries to outright remove the Old Testament from the Bibles in the Church. Like I said, the only use the Orthodox church ever has for the Torah and anything associated with it is to show Jews that Jesus was the prophecy.

So to answer a question of yours that I didn't before; yes the Gospel was an upgrade, not merely an addition. Read both books and you'll see what I mean.

They're a few of them. Greek, Russian, Ethiopian, Coptic, etc. They all slightly differ because they can't seem to agree on a few things and they all claim to be the first Church. It's complicated.

Not all. The Ethiopians had their own kingdom and own roots to establish pretty much the same church.
