Lil Wayne is the dopest rapper right now by far. Aint no one coming close to touchin this fool in terms of the total package. His rhymes are completely ridiculous, and hes got star appeal too. But for reals, just listening to The Carter 2, there are so many moments where you're just like , "Wait, what the fuck did he just say", and just have to rewind that shit. The Carter 2 is a future classic, I haven't come upon a rap album that has that much replay value in many years. He comes up with the craziest lyrics. DJ Drama Dedication 2 is also sick as hell. Jay Z called him Rookie of the Year, Kanye calls him his favorite rapper right now, and Andre 3000 mentioned him as the only rapper on his radar. You dont get cosigned by 3 top doggs for nothin. Andre is even offering to produce an entire album for Wayne. And man, that new joint Stuntin like my Daddy, straight ridiculous. He's one of the few rappers that actually improve over time, and hes gone a long way. Dont disregard his new music just based on what you heard in the past... Anyways, please discuss.
-
He is FAR from the dopest right now. I can think of at least 10 mainstream rappers right now who are better than him.
But he has grown significantly as an MC and as a lyricist, and I respect that. "Tha Carter 2" was the last album I expected I would really like, but I'm feelin' it. If he can keep improving, I can see him reaching Jay-Z/Snoop/Ludacris levels of respect and popularity.
-
im sorry i just cant hear his music or see him without thinkin about his cash money gayness, dude even has a song "stuntin like my daddy" talkin about his relationship with baby. no homo weezy! no homo
-
-
around when tha carter 1 was out, people were calling him the veteran rookie. he had been in the game for 10/11 years released 3 solos and a 3 group albums but he was being disregarded. he was fucking with sqad and really improving his voice flow and lyrics and becoming a great freestyler. around the time of the carter people started saying that he was nice overnight but it wasnt the fact. he spent years getting nice. when he turned 21 he felt like he was it was his rookie season in the game and that this was his time to shine. i dont think hes ever blown up. it seems to me that he is getting a steadily growing fanbase. oh yeah. hes better than snoop right now, better than jigga right now and is better than pac, not more popular than pac but he is a better lyricist.
-
I like all his music new and old but I think Lupe is the best new MC and also Weezy has been making music much longer than Kanye so I don't think his opinion counts. It's like Kobe talking about Wilt Chaimberlin.
-
Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I used to dislike everything about the guy on the mic. I can't deny he's been dope since Tha Carter though. He stepped his lyrics up, the voice I can deal with, and he's shining on everything he's been on so far. I mean, he killed Andree 3000 on his own shit.
-
Exept for the fact that he kisses Baby and calls him "Daddy"
-
its gillie tha kid all day over here!....jk...but i agree with "a tribe called dubcc" as far as lupe being tha best mc out right now...i like wayne and all but i dont think hes best rapper out...
-
Really liked the carter 2 but, dopest raper right now.....................no.
-
Wayne's defintiley one of the top lyricists right now, however his flow & voice are well below average.

I like him okay
like Phillyboy said, he doesn't have bad lyrics but his flow and voice aren't the greatest
if I listen to him at all it's because of production
I like this line - "like ranch I dip"
-
Lloyd Banks is the dopest rapper right now

He's nice, but LMAO @ this talk about him being the "best rapper alive". I'll give him credit for that too, he somehow managed to get people to believe that shiet.

Find something wrong about what I posted then. Or better yet, find someone who disagrees. I'm white and your Arab, neither of us are Black, so if my color comes into question as far as rap knowledge, your just as suspect.

i don´t get the hype. dude´s mad lazy with his lyrics, delievery and flow. and Wayne´s talking about the same ole' shit that every other rapper be on so i don´t see what´s so special.
-
yup, lil wayne sure is one of the top 5 rappers right now

Lazy doesn't mean wack. He just has a looser flow now than he used to - it gives him more room to play with his delivery and rhymes, makes it sound smoother. Lots of good rappers do that - like Snoop.
The hype is that he's made a very dope album that has a perfect balance of club bangers and raw freestyle-type tracks, as well as more experimental joints like "Shooter". And he holds the show all by himself without any big-name producers (like Mannie Fresh).
-
And let's not forget dude is still young as hell. He probably hasn't even reached his prime yet for all we know.

Damn, that was outlandish. I never said anything negative about Dipset's music, just there fans and them as people. I clowned Cam for being a NAMBLA member, and now you use that against me? lol. c'mon can't you be original? Plus, Dipset has only done a few tracks with Wayne, he's still on Cash Money not Diplomats/Asylum. Plus, I'm loving I Can't Feel My Face. ;) Now, quick, say something intelligent to me.
And I wasn't 100% positive on Wayne either. Even if he did sign with Diplomats, he would fit right in, you know with the kissing of men and all.
-
I never really felt Wayne man I think his voice his iz fuckin anoying he talks about the same shit in every song and the combo of him and his lover opps Imean his father Baby needs to go away. not to mention this cat look like the predator Juve or Bg>>>> Wayne all day
Dont get hurt anybody just my opinion Dubcc forums = Opinons

I've never like the dudes voice - I think it's fuckin horrible. Also, I think some of his punchlines are straight corny - "Weezy, allergic to summertime, HOT". LOL, and how are people calling him the rookie of the year (which is gay in itself) - he's been around for fucking ever.
I do like Stuntin like my daddy though. He's decent at best to me. It's like somebody else said - he says he's the greatest rapper alive so much that people eat it up and start to believe it.
-
Iv said it before and il say it again. Lil Wayne = Best rapper alive.

And the line is "Weezy..allergic to WINTERTIME, HOT.....it fits in with the context of the song, the whole fireman thing.

LOL, got in a hurry and mistyped. And yes, that line is corny - especially the way he says it.
-
^^^^^
I actually liked it, now..."money too long teachers put away your rulers" imo thts corny....
-
i liked this one
Niggas wanna eat cuz they aint ate nothin
But niggas wanna leave when you say you out of mustard
So I'ma walk into the restaurant alone, leavin out
Leavin behind just residue and bones
subliminal sq diss.
-
The song 'Miss My Dawgs', or whatever the exact name is, is dope. Obviously it's not his only good one but it just strikes me as being really emotional & truthful when most rappers in his situation would diss.
-
yeah that song was great. the guitar and the piano combo on the intro really set the mood for the song. after that song came out bg and wayne were cool and they said he was gonna be on the carter 2. too bad gizzle got mad at wayne for refering the hot boys as 'that little group' and dissed him on triggaman.
-

That was a nice diss, and he even admitted...."Yeah i know you lyrical, you a beast on the mic" or suttin like tht....

it was like he was trying to give wayne a reality check.

I always liked Weezy F Baby but when I heard him give it to Cass and Fab on 6 Mins of Death I was really sold....Giving it to Cass = :o
Lil Wayne is THAT nice
-
Lil Wayne < any 80's or 90's rapper
To me he's part of what's ruined hip-hop, they've placed image over substance, they show expensive cars, jewelry, and women around them and they try to project alot of power through those things, rather than projecting power through the quality of their skills like emcee's used to before mainstream hip-hop died.
-
it gets real annoying how he constantly says "Weezy baby" and "Birdman J-R" and dumb shit mentioning his daddy and stuff in his raps
