All I'm hearing from that Indian piece is the stripped down version of the "Put It On Me" instrumental. And who's to say that they didn't jack it from Dre?

Max You're a moron.

There's a reason you never post in here... you don't know shit about west coast rap..

like Larrabee said, this song was released AFTER put it on me. The lady singing put this out as a "diss" to dre for "stealing" the sample used in addictive.

DJ Quik talked about this in an interview when the addictive contrevorsey was in full swing. I'll see if I can dig it up.

Stick to the G-spot you bitch.

Yes Dj Quik did produce addictive.  Dre released it, so Dre was the one that got sued.  Dre has also been sued for

Family Affair
X
Game Over
Lets Get High

that's just off the top of my head.  The reason he was sued for many of his beats were because of Scott Storch.  He would claim he had made up these melodies and Dre trusted him.  Then after he got sued for all these songs, Dre said that he won't use any melodies unless they are created infront of him.

Most of the music they listen to in India is a lot more complex and harder to sing than what we're used to hearing, so they may just have a better 'musical sense' than Dr. Dre.  It is possible to be more knowledgable than Dr. Dre you know.

here are the facts..

quik recorded it off the tv... and made a song from it..
the drums on the song are sampled from another commonly used track 'do it till ya satisfied'

aftermaths clearing people claim they made attempt to clear the indian sample.. they  should have done their job properly, not quik's fault, not dre's fault.

DR DRE and rising US rap starlet TRUTH HURTS have been named in a whopping $500million lawsuit alleging copyright infringement.

An Indian Music and film company, Saregama India Ltd, has filed the suit alleging an unlicensed sample from popular Indian artist Lata Mangeshkar's 20-year old track 'Thoda Resham Lagta Hai' was used in Truth Hurts' breakthrough track 'Addictive'.

"When you hear it, it's like, 'Oh my god, they didn't even try to get original with it,' " Saregama's lawyer Dedra S. Davis told MTV. "[They didn't] try to change it up or anything like that."

The suit was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division, on September 12. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for November 22.

While Dr Dre didn't produce the track - DJ Quik did - he executive produced debut album 'Truthfully Speaking, on which it features. His Aftermath label, Interscope Records and its parent company Universal Music Group are also named in the action.

Saregama came to the massive $500million figure based on profits from the sale of 'Truthfully Speaking' and the single 'Addictive', on lawyer's fees, and punitive damages. The album has sold more than 273,000 copies in the US.

Dr. Dre And Truth Hurts Hit With Injunction In 'Addictive' Case

02/05/2003 10:00 AM, LAUNCH
Yves Erwin Salomon

(2/5/03, 10 a.m. ET) -- A federal judge in Los Angeles issued an injunction barring further sales of Truth Hurts's "Addictive" until composer Bappi Lahiri is listed and credited on song, which borrowed heavily from that composer's "Thoda Resham Lagta Hai." "Addictive" was the lead single from Hurts's debut album, Truthfully Speaking.

Lahiri's attorney Anthony Kornarens told Reuters, "The judge took the matter seriously and felt as though, from what I could tell, the defendant had not acted appropriately." A June 17 trial date has been set to settle the matter.

Lahiri initially brought suit in October against Dr. Dre, Aftermath Records, and the Universal Music Group for allegedly lifting four minutes of his song. Incidentally DJ Quik, who actually produced "Addictive," was not named in the lawsuit.

In a published report, DJ Quik explained how he found the sample, "I woke up one morning,...I turned on the TV and landed on this Hindi channel and just turned it up real loud. There was a commercial on, and I just got up and went into the bathroom and started brushing my teeth. I'm brushing and before I knew it, I was grooving...The beat on the TV was just in my body. I went back in there and looked at the TV. There was a girl on there belly dancing, just like real fly, so I pushed record on the VCR."

-- Yves Erwin Salomon, New York

suit was filed for that.. what was the outcome?

i also found this...

http://denunge.dk/article/articleview/1235/1/35/

this bits funny..

"But the story doesn’t end here. To my great surprise, when I went to India last month, I was watching TV when I heard the now familiar words, “Kaliyon ka chaman…” and was surprised to see a fairly young woman dancing to a modern remix of the song. At first I was confused, not having known at that point the origin of Thoda Resham Lagta Hai and thought this was the song that Truth Hurts had used as their background. It was then that I realized that the people in this video, called Kaliyon Ka Chaman and sung by Shashwati, were dressed in clothing and dancing in a way that was remarkably similar to Truth Hurts in her video for Addictive. Not only that, but this song has also been topping the Desi Pop Charts despite being a rip-off of a rip-off.

"
they took it back!!

What an ignorant motherfucker we have here.  One, Dre didn't produce that song, and Two, anybody with an ear has to say honestly to themselves, Dre may be the only rapper who never DID fall off.  If you think Dre fell off, you're fucking crazy.

You moron the track he stole is like 25 years old  ;D

u stupid fuck...u must be new to hiphop...what quik did with addictive (dre in ur opinion) is called sampling....dj premier does it...its been done since decades....what the heatmakers did was use an exact same beat of put it on me with very little or no addition to it.

read this carefully.....THE HEATMAKERS USED DJ QUIK'S BEAT NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND & DR. DRE HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH ANYTHING IN THIS THREAD

peace
