Interned there in college, they hired me on full time after graduation. All in all, I've been there for over 7 years. I used to be very proud of my job and the success that I had with it. However, I have truly not been happy there since summer 05. The only reason I stayed on is because they were paying me well. Well money doesn't motivate me like it used to.
I'm taking what money I have left (I've blown through LOTS of dough in the past year), either selling, storing, or trashing the majority of my possessions and I'm gonna travel for a little while. I want to see the country / world. My lease on my condo is up at the end of the month and so my journey will start pretty soon. I don't have a set agenda, but I'm likely gonna stay in the states at least for several months because I am in my friends wedding and shit like that. But outside of that, I have yet to formulate a strict plan.
And hell, because of dubcc I'm international as hell - we got people all over the world on here. So hopefully some of you cats could show a brotha some love and show me around your city or what not. Holler at the kid if you're down.
-
Shit man, you are doing what most of us would like to, but are too shook to. Enjoy your journey!
-
aslong as your not an internet predator, you come come up to canada and we can get drunk son!

no offense, but your retarded lol.
with the economy now, you NEED a job, because finding another one (with almost that pay) is no walk in the park.
bad move, imo, but if you would rather be happy then props to you for having the balls to quit your job in todays world lol.
-
I think u should have saved up some more money and stayed with ur job... Take a vacation for 3 weeks to some nice place.. LOL.. but in any case, have fun.. ;)
-
good move or bad move? i cant call it and i dont need too. i give you props for doin you though.

Youre right, money doesnt buy true happiness but heres my little theory lol.. If youre a miserable person, you'll be miserable NO MATTER WHAT (unless u somehow cure ur misery) but if ur a happy person money can only help make life sweet as candy.

If you're money is not making you happy, then you're not making enough of it.

Well I was unhappy with my job because I was constantly put in situations that I didn't feel were ethical. I also had to be an extremely cold hearted person at times and that's not my steez. I fundamentally do not agree w/ the banking system, and by continuing to work in that system, I am only propagating it. And a large part of the reason I stayed on was I was making good money (there are more reasons, I like a lot of peeps I work w/ etc). And yeah it got me nice things, but materialistic stuff doesn't impress me nearly as much as it used to.

I'm sure you heard of Kaiser Permanente? I am currently working there...and I say, "wtf?" People there are fucked up, and this week I've been called in to see my manager all week...that's beyond bullshit...this ain't my week...fuck!
I know some of my co-workers are just lazy, dick-suckin', motherfuckers who want to bring me down. I always see my co-workers talking back to the patient who are trying to get their medications.
COMPLETE BULLSHIT.
Hey, for those who are not working...here's some advice:
-if you have no income, take all your money from the bank, and file for unemployment.
-when are you in unemployment status, apply for many health care programs for FREE! You can get more programs..just gotta find.
You ain't gotta work anymore.
-
Much respect for having the will to do that. I'm hoping to do something similar when I graduate school in a year or 2, because I have only been to a handful of states and the only other country I've been in is Mexico, and not that deep into it. I know a couple friends who did a study abroad program or went for a summer, but I would love to see a lot of different places and interact with people from other societies. Good luck on your journey, hope you get what you want out of it.

It's too bad a lot of people are now being turned down for unemployment, otherwise it might have been a good plan.

Because too many people are losing their jobs and the federal government doesn't have enough to support them.

So, what qualifies them?

Dependants, former income level, disability...
Basically those who are fully capable of finding a job, though none are to be had, are getting the shaft.

Well, all bullshit in this thread aside, good luck man and have fun. It takes a lot of confidence and a sound mind to not worry yourself ragged over big moves and you seem to posses that.
Until then,
No More Nonsense.

Its a good choice. All having more money really comes down to us being surrounded by nicer possesions and a bigger square footage.it does not buy happyness.Let's face it some people have no morales so they can take jobs that you have to posses no morality to work and they surround themselves with possessions to make up for everything.it doesn't work.life boils down to the memories you make and travelling and seeing the beauty of this world is the best thing you can do.Beauty isn't owning a 100 inch tv with a clear image its swimming in crystal clear water seeing everything that this earth has to offer us.

Your welcome to come to Kansas City if you want and I have your back here. But Im not a big Kansas City type guy as far as knowing the KC nightlife and all that (Im mainly invovled with just the Muslim community here)... but I could put you in touch with people to show you around. KC is pretty lame though...
...and if you want to travel internationally I recommend West Africa (Gambia and Senegal) and I know the best person to put you in touch with if you go there, and he knows his way around better than anybody, and can give you the real experience if you want that. Whether you want to see the countryside, live the local way of life, hang on the beach, or hit up the reggae clubs and smoke ganja.... whatever, I can hook you up. You just can't be a bitch and be one of those travellers that still expects to eat and live American style and have everything his way.
