Title: More innovative:Sega vs. Nintendo
Post by: Sub-Z on July 22, 2002, 10:00:26 AM
which makes the most innovative games

i say sega, theyre never afraid to try new ideas and shit and for the most part the games are always good (jet set radio future, shenmue, seaman etc etc)

nintendo is just more of the same, mario zelda, gets boring, nothing new

I was getting ready to come in here and be pro Nintendo like always, but I took a minute to think. Although I like the Mario, Zelda, Metroid games better than Sonic etc, Sega does have alot of good first party games. Until Nintendo starts it's own kick ass sports line, I gotta go with Sega on this one.

Nintendo.

Who invented platformers with Super Mario Brothers?

Who had the pad where you could run and get a work out and play video games at the same time? (now copied by dance dance revolution and numerous others)

Who invented Pokemon?

Who single handedly made the video game standard for 3d platformers (Mario 64)

Who invented the rumble pack?

Who brought back the Analog controller?

Im sure there are many others Im forgetting, but cant remember now...

No doubt that sega has some intresting and creative titles, but Nintendo blows them outta the water

Yo man, he talking about games, not hardware. I'd agree with you if he was askin about innovation of hardware, games, and anything else to do with systems.

all of nintendos gamea are the same thing, more of mario, more of  zelda (even though they dont make the zelda games),it gets boring to me,they arent coming with new games, theyre living off mario, but sega is always makin new concepts etc....

You havent played half the games on the list, and nintendo pretty much invented and perfected party games with mario party.

Smash bro's got rave reviews,
Pikmin and pokemon did as well

Tell me some of the games you think sega has been innovative with.

Im not saying they dont have innovative games. They do. They have some great games like crazy taxi and super monkey ball, but nintendo is the most innovative compnay out there

you dont understand innovative, comin out with shit people arent used to or havent seen, nintendo has come out wit tons of the same mario shit

sega has jet set radio future, gunvalkyrie, shenmue, phantasy star online, crazy taxi, seaman, samaba de amigo (no idea if thats the correct name, but its close enough) ill make another list later
Title: Re: More innovative:Sega vs. Nintendo
Post by: Woodrow on July 24, 2002, 08:53:27 PM
There is no dobut that sega makes some good games, but nintendo was the INVENTOR of half the shit on the market....

Samba de amigo is no fun w/o the shakey things, and that's hardware, so that can't be on the list...

Semen (hahahha) Is based around the virtual pet idea, and you also have to have the microphone to play, so that's hardware as well...

Phantsay star online is really nothing new. Ultima Online, Everquest, Asharons call, and many other online rpgs came before it.

I dont know about gunvalkrie so I cant comment on it,

Jet set radio is very cool and a great concept.

Shenmue was a great game... but had a shitty ending.

Crazy taxi certianly isnt innovative, yet fun at the same time. All they did was add a twist to and some edgy characters to a timed driving game.

Sega is an innovative company, but if you've been playing video games for as long as I have, you would realize that Nintendo is the OG shit of the video games. They invented the platform game.... Sega makes good games, but by no means are they the most innovative of the 2 companies.

In rap terms:

Dr dre = Nintendo

Snoop = Sega

lol you dont even know what innovative means,it ssure as hell isnt makin the same shit over and over
Title: Re: More innovative:Sega vs. Nintendo
Post by: Woodrow on July 24, 2002, 10:01:00 PM
Sure thing...

to me, innovative means being advanced,  forward-looking, and modern....

You still havent proved to me why Sega is more innovative...

You've given me a list of games, 2 of which require extra hardware to be properly enjoyed, 2 of which are NOT innovative, and 2 others that are good.

Just a question, how old are you, and how long have you been playing video games?
Title: Re: More innovative:Sega vs. Nintendo

nintendo was innovative in the fuckin 80's not now, same shit over and over, but whatever you dont understand
Title: Re: More innovative:Sega vs. Nintendo
Post by: Woodrow on July 25, 2002, 10:13:37 PM
How don't I understand?

I provided facts...

There is no denying the games.

Perhpas if you would take the time to craft an argument with evidence and thoughtfullness then I would agree with you...

So far, you haven't shown me why Sega is more Innovative than Nintendo.

exactly, as much as i loved nintendo and made fun of my sister for her sega when i was a kid, now, nintendo is still following the same formula as they were 10 years ago when i was 8 and sega is definately exploring the possibilities
