Title: NBA 11-12 Season discussion thread
Post by: rayallen0 on February 10, 2012, 02:58:53 PM
was getting tired of making week threads so just a season thread.

2 games on ESPN tonight

LAL vs. NYK
OKC vs. Utah

Josh Smith was a huge snub in this all star game. smh.

considering there is like 8 people who are active that isn't saying much. I'm not going to make a team thread for every team. One season thread is fine. It going to go long...so is 58 pages on the heat and 312 on the lakers.

I now root against two teams (Kings and the Blunder) more than I root for any other team, a bit sad.

if you're not already delirious with LINsanity (27pts) u can watch the 4th quarter live & free on http://watchespn.com Knicks up 6 on Lakers

seriously, this is (L)incredible.

i just hope nobody's touching the MSG pun

not a particularly good shooter, passer, ball handler, defender or overall athlete but he's smart & sports are all angles if you do it right

"i work the angles, sharp and precise"

'm rooting for him but it'll be tough once they do better scouting. Not a great shooter, athlete, passer, defender. Solid tho

this is what i thought, too...but he is good at all of those things.

btw, rayallen...we all know hack is retarded. but don't aid his mental deficiencies. keep NBA talk in the NBA threads.

Suns/Warriors on NBA TV. Steve Nash is 38 and still incredible. Dominating the game...on one end of the court at least. He's not traditionally athletic, but i bet he's in better overall shape than most of the players in the league. Back issues aside

Bob Knight just used the term "dunk shot." o_O

Klay's been playing better recently, i can't front. still has a long way to go but i hope he does well

Lin makes Brown and Black people as racially awkward as White people. It's a whole new experience.

As a PG, it's really embarrassing how much Lin turns the ball over. Throw a cot damn bounce pass when kicking out for ONCE. And go left too

3 TO's in the quarter but another 3 that should have been TO's. Got lucky bounces after the deflections. He can score though!

ESPN statement on firing & suspension: http://espn.go.com/new-york/story/_/id/7591778/espn-statement-offensive-jeremy-lin-comments

Dirk has the ugliest game of any HOF'er in history

28 points, 14 assists, 7 turnovers. Beautiful symmetry.

I love that JR Smith has spent more time in China than Jeremy Lin.

Yea lins gotta cut down the turnovers... But to be fair, he's never gotten this much run, so he's still adjusting and I expect him to get better with taking care of the ball as he gets used to his position.

Definitely shitty without your home team though. I still like Durant and Collison cause they had nothing to do with the move but I'll never support that organization for screwing Seattle over the way they did.

lmao you think that any other player could make turnaround fadeaways double covered with his release? no. Dirk is an amazing player but its an ugly game just like Paul Pierce game. Wonder why there are no good german players other than him? cuz they take his example, that would only work for him. Kobe has that 1 leg shot also now but that is Kobe. Shooting off of 1 leg in a turnaround fade away double covered jump shot would be almost impossible for anybody but him.

Ar you the one who has made my karma gone down like 20 in the last week? cuz you are the only person who actually expresses your dislike for me. would be nice if it was you and not just some passive aggressive pussy.

Ugly is stuff like Marion's shot mechanics... I don't see how a player doing something effective that almost nobody can imitate as something ugly... and there aren't other good German players because a) everybody plays soccer, b) the national league is loaded with C- and D-grade Americans and people who come from immigrant families taking the spots of players who could become something but need more guidance, playing time and perspective. If you look at the rosters of the clubs you see a bunch of black people from the US, who aren't good enough for the NBA or some better European league. Coaches don't even speak German during timeouts, because there are so many Americans and immigrants from the East. Former MVP: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julius_Jenkins

And I don't believe in knocking Karma because in my opinion it only helps the nigga who gets it knocked and just shows how angry you are.. I love getting my Karma knocked when talking shit to niggas...
Back in the day when I was hated as fuck my Karma dropped by like 700 points during a few months, those were the times. Nowadays it feels special to have my karma altered by 10 points during a month.

Bottom line, it pisses me off when people yawn at double-teamed turnaround and1 fadeaways but throw their chips into the air jumping up when seeing a generic DeAndre Jordan dunk.

yea...Kobe adds shit from other peoples game to his own game every off-season. A couple seasons ago, he added Hakeem footwork in the post. This season, he practiced the Dirk fadeaway, and has even used it in a few games. Shit's pretty, imo.

You've got to admit, deleting the posts after that weird last post of yours (can only see it through Nik's quote) seems pretty darn shook breda. Good to know you're alright, blood clot beef can make you a dead man, seen?

Don't see the bumped thread, is it in the G-Spot or what? He'll probably be back like most niggas who leave for no real reason. Sucks cause we now just have like 6 regular NBA posters, lol..

I was using exaggeration to make a point with the last post that people take shit very personally when there is a disagreement. I obviously wasn't quoting anybody.

A Question of Identity: The headline, the tweet, and the unfair significance of Jeremy Lin by Jay Caspian King - ESPN -http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7601157/the-headline-tweet-unfair-significance-jeremy-lin

also Anthony Federico responds to hislin  story
Quote
I wrote the headline in reference to the tone of the column and not to Jeremy Lin’s race. It was a lapse in judgment and not a racist pun. It was an awful editorial omission and it cost me my job.

I owe an apology to Jeremy Lin and all people offended. I am truly sorry.

Actions speak louder than words. My words may have hurt people in that moment but my actions have always helped people. If those who vilify me would take a deeper look at my life they would see that I am the exact opposite of how some are portraying me.

They would see that on the day of the incident I got a call from a friend – who happens to be homeless – and rushed to his aid. He was collapsed on the side of the road due to exposure and hunger. They would see how I picked him up and got him a hotel room and fed him. They would see I used my vacation time last year to volunteer in the orphanages of Haiti. They would see how I ‘adopted’ an elderly Alzheimer’s patient and visited him every week for a year. They would see that every winter I organize a coat drive for those less fortunate in New Haven. They would see how I raised $10,000 for a friend in need when his kids were born four months premature. They would see how I have worked in soup kitchens and convalescent homes since I was a kid. They would see my actions speak louder than my words. They would see that these acts were not done for my glory, but for God’s. They would see that each day I live and will continue to live a life of joy and service.

It never has been or will be my intention to hurt anyone.

I wrote thousands and thousands and thousands of headlines in my five years at ESPN. There never was a problem with any of them and I was consistently praised as an employee – both personally and professionally. Two weeks prior to the incident I had my first column published on espnW.com. My career was taking off. Why would I throw that all away with a racist pun? This was an honest mistake.

It is also crucial that people know that the writer of the column had nothing to do with the headline. I wrote it and now I take responsibility for it.

I am actually a Knicks fan and an ardent supporter of Jeremy Lin. Not surprisingly, he has handled the entire situation with grace and class.

Now I have to find a new job and move on with my life.

My solace in this is that ‘all things work together for good for those who love the Lord.’ I praise God equally in the good times and the bad times.

With all the PG talent in the NBA (Rose, Westbrook, Deron, Rondo, Parker, Jennings, Kyrie, Lin, etc), Nash still plays it the best. CP3 next.
That's not to say he's the best PG but he plays the position the best. Two different things. Oh, and speaking offense only of course haha
He's still unreal offensively. 50/40/90 shooting %

Really weird to think that Pau Gasol and Serge Ibaka are teammates on the Spanish National team

Watching the game and never thought I'd say this phrase but...Chris Webber should stick to making beats.

Harden is talking that ish to Kobe right now! Hahahah. And giving it to the Lakers on offense and defense. Love his game.

Zombie Sonics taking the Lakers' soul right now. One of those changing of the guard games you remember years later

Commentator keeps trying to get Westbrook & KD to admit it's a big win. They play it off as just another game. Clear shot @ the Lakers

Darius Morris, Kapono, Josh McRoberts, Troy Murphy, Andrew Goudelock, Royal Ivey, Ryan Reid, Cole Aldrich, Reggie Jackson, Harden ended game. aside from Harden, who is All Star caliber, that's an insane collection of players to be on the court at one time hahaha

4-15 and then 7-24? Meanwhile, Bron damn near averaging a triple double. Just saying.

This bootleg LA Live that Orlando has looks kinda fresh

The Heat have found the cure to LeBron's 4th quarter issues. Just win by double digits every game and remove that out the equation

Steve Kerr on Derrick Williams' dunk contest chances: "we should get some Duke players out there to use as props.

I'm dyin. I love NBA On TNT ahaha

it's all fun and games until someone fouls Nick Anderson and he has to shoot free throws...

Kevin Hart with the alley oop to J. Cole! That was actually dope. Go head fellas

hahaha @ Kevin Hart getting ejected. very Globetrotter-esque but I chuckled. Good show

Barkely: "It's gonna be very difficult for Westbrook to win the Skills Challenge cause you have to pass the ball"

woah, super dope Kanye/Hov/NBA All Star Saturday Night mash up created by the TNT production team using the "paris" video.

Chris Tucker stays at events like this without doing anything relevant in a decade

Allan Houston sighting! One of my favorite players ever with the smoothest jumper I can think of

Kevin Harlan: "Kenny looks like he's lost a little weight." Reggie Miller: "...very little"

Kenny practices half court shots...you can't convince me otherwise

my guy Allan Houston for the win!!!! Still a better shooter than 75% of the league, easy.

yo speaking of Allan Houston, how many of y'all remember "Black and White" with Raekwon?
http://www.youtube.com/v/heLsk6jv_hk

just one year, i'd like to see these guards actually RUN in the skills challenge

at this point in the night, i'd just like to remind everyone that Tony Parker cheated on Eva Longoria

James Jones just showed em how it's done. Shooters know: whenever you release and immediately look away to the next ball, you're rolling

Dwyane Wade rocking the same leather...sorry, brushed suede...pants as fake John Leguizamo in the State Farm commercial

disappointing performances in the 3 point shootout aside from a few 1st round scores. At least they were close though

this slam dunk contest has all the makings of an utter disaster...here goes nothin...

so far, this dunk contest has started with Flo-Rida and then some dub step o_O

wait, Flo-Rida, dub-step, and then some random Brit-pop rapper? Someone should be fired over this monstrosity.

Ahahaha @ Diddy just stunting on Kenny

Chase with the Billy Hoyle outfit!!!!

If Chase jumps over Diddy and takes him out, this will all be worth it

*patiently waiting for someone to actually jump over a shark in this dunk contest*

That Jeremy Evans dunk was amazing though. Don't front

I'm a sucker for flashing lights (noKanye). That George dunk just looked cool as shit. Not mad at all at that one

Great dunk from Williams too. Three fantastic dunks in a row after all the props in the 1st round

"It's funny how people compare Jordan to Jesus, I mean hes awesome but he's no Jordan"

Derrick Williams is totally winning the Rebounding Contest.

Man. This league is lame. If Peyton were in it it would be a lot better  ;D. Face it, LeBron is a faggot, Kobe is a rapist, Durant is annorexic, and Dwayne Wade is a flopper. What is Peyton? The greatest athlete in the history of sports, period. All these NBA assholes could learn so much if they just let Peyton have a chance at their sport. Mark my words, If Peyton doesn't end up getting the right offer he'll be in the NBA next year. Of all the teams interested I would say the Heat. Peyton could take that team over the top, but then again, he could do that for any team. Anyways, of all teams Peyton could be on  I would say the Heat. Opinions?

Actually basketball hasn't been the same since the NBA's "Peyton" Larry Bird was at the top of his game. Of course the difference between Basketball and Football is Basket can rely a lot more on one player's talent than Football. If the NFL were built around single player talent like the NBA was, then Magic vs Bird would have been recreated in Ray Lewis vs Peyton Manning.

For the record I never said Peyton had no equals in his era. Just not any quarterbacks. I'll never argue that Peyton is better at football than Ray Lewis is. Both from what I've seen are the only two players in the current era that have the talent and intellect to transcend the systems they play in and rise to the top. No matter what teams they would have been drafted by they each would been at least as highly praised as they are now. Just like Magic and Larry.

u think when hack hates on kobe, he's "trollin", but when i hate on lebron, i'm "a hater".....thats nutriding if i've ever seen it. quit actin like i'm not makin any points and am just randomly talkin shit 2 u. even if u didnt tell me u were a kid, i'd be able to tell based on ur mentality. u see a bunch of fags on here constantly attemptin 2 troll me, and u buy the bs they feed u. ur posting style reflects that. thats why i call u a sheep, my boy.

I don't think for myself? im a sheep? wtf???

First time i talked to you i argued with you. I stopped cuz it is boring and tedious. all you do is say "you are a nutrider fag"

You aren't original. talk tough and act like you don't care but then get in 30 page arguments and the only thing you say is 'your a fag" "you have down syndrome" "you a fag biebs" "you a virgin"

How about instead of getting all pissed off you actually argue in more ways than just insults.

Like i said. you have never taken constructive criticism in your life. I gave you a simple analysis and you said im a sheep. I ain't tanner, elano or k-macc i have no need to try and hop on a band wagon to get people to like me. I think Infinite is a self hating white man. Grundy is a fucking idiot. Fermac is the biggest wigger ever. Elano is annoying as fuck. Kmacc is on peteys dick.

those are the members i think negative of. All of them are really fucking obvious why. not some bandwagon shit.

well who are you trolling?
CC isn't in here often. only person you are really talking to in here is me. So i don't think that is trolling.

Outrageous comments hack made i just scoff at and move on.

its like if someone wrote "Reggie Evans is better than that bum Charles Barkley"
I'm not going to respond or get angry to that?

My posting style? being orderly and not just calling everybody a fag.

again you can look at the first time i interacted with you i thought you were annoying it isn't cuz people are telling me nik is annoying. I actually think they go at you the wrong way and think all that family shit is straight up over the top and disrespectful. No respect for that but can't do much about it.

this time you actually had points. not just. "hop off my nuts"

I don't want to be another one of those people who argues with you in every thread. I just wanna talk about some fucking basketball.

LOL @ Kobe gettin on Lebron for not shootin it. As good as he is he still dont got that killer instinct like Kobe which is why people get on him. Hes sensitive as hell and makes dumb decisions when it matters. He sparked our comeback but when its time to win he out of nowhere defers to Wade n loses the ball n game. SMH

That's was classic Lebron. Perfect game, scoring, rebounding, assisting...he did everything humanly possible and more. But despite of all that, he chocked when it mattered the most. Again.

Great All Star game. Durant/Westbrook and LeBron/Wade dominated. Hoping we see a Thunder vs Heat finals. Surely Miami's title to lose

Even Kobe can't save Lebron ... Wade has always been sensitive about Kobe superior success ... the best moment is still the look on Rose face during the starting 5 introduction : " what are you dancing you fool"

^LOL...Rose was like "fuck alla that, i aint partakin in this faggot ass shit". OG

and did u hear Wade's comments after the game?

On Kobe passing MJ:
"With KD in the league, I don't know how long its going to last."

On his hard foul:
"Obviously i didn't try to draw no blood, but I took a foul. Kobe had fouled me twice in a row right before that"

he's mad that he STILL aint regarded the best SG in the league. smh

wade lost alot of respect as a person in my book after this. dude is almost 30 and hes acting like a child.

his jealousy for kobe really showed that game.

lol and his stupid comments, someones mad  ::).

but whats ironic is that he himself said he wants kobe to take the last shot if he had any player to take a shot to win the game.

-Wade says this
-Carmelo says Kobe is the best player in the game today
-Kevin Durant says Kobe Bryant is the best one on one player in the game today
-Kevin Love says Kobe is the best player in the game today
-Larry Bird says Kobe would be his first choice teammate
-Jordan says Kobe is the only player comparable to him
-Most NBA GMs say they want Kobe taking the last shot

And Kobe is leading the league in scoring and leads his team in assists.

And this guy is in his 16th season?  8)

catching up on basketball watching some games on the dvr

has anyone ever had a 20 assist, 20 rebound game before? Looks like Rajon will be 3 boards short. Amazing complete performance w/no jumper

Derrick Rose = trill.

Nets need to realize that unless they get Dwight Howard in the next few weeks, Deron is basically just playing for Mark Cuban's checkbook

reporter:"what does having a triple double say about your game?" Rondo: "that i like to do the intangibles" (stats being the exact opposite)

yea even though hes a celtic bastard, i admire and i only consider the greats that have the ability to play when their athleticism is gone.

rondo is athletic as heck but hes smart enough, has the confidence, and hustles enough to play much longer into his career that most others.

wade, bron, westbrook (maybe his jumper has seen som eimprovement, as well as his post game, but nothing too extrodinary).

once they hit their 30s, their done.

edit: 30's not literally meaning 30. i kno wades 30, i see him slowing down but than again he hasnt logged as many minutes as kobe when he was 30, so it might not be that imminent.

imo kobe lost his youthful legs 2-3 seasons ago, when he was 30-31.

lol funny how kobe says "u think im going to stay playing in the league averaging 20 points? *smirks*" disses basically every veteran in the league, plus basically wade.

Either Dexter Pittman and Erick Dampier are guarding each other, or two manatees are trying to mate on NBA TV right now

Lakers follow up the Heat victory with losses at Detroit and Washington. That's not getting it done if they really want to be contenders.

"tie game...4 minutes left...so whoever scores the most from this point on will win the game" - enthralling commentary from Heat broadcast

Every time Josh Smith shoots a 3, a kitten dies.

"We found out who the Kyra Sedgwick of the Miami Heat is...the Closer, Dwyane Wade." - Kendall Gill. smh.
Jared Sullinger is going to be on so many posters in the league with that limited jumping ability. Screams bust to me. well, maybe not a bust, but I just don't see Sullinger being much more than a Udonis Haslem type of player in the league
