I know there are about 30 threads about this album but I am one of the few that has not heard the whole album until today. After 1 listen I think it is a good album. Nothing ground breaking but a definite improvement from CIA. The problem for me for CIA was the lyrics (kurupt in particular) and the sound was all over the place. DC has more of that DPGC sound with Daz, Soopafly and Ivan Johnson doing the beats. Good to hear Daz behind the boards again. Kurupt is improving but at times still depending too much on curse words to rhyme, but he had some nice verse on here. Favorites so far:
Mo Murda
Vibe
Blast On Em
Bucc Em
Where U From
It'z A Good Day
Blaze It Up
1 N 1 Out
This Gangsta Chit Iz Ourz (cold ass beat)
And it sounds good in a system. A Good Cruising album. 3rd best album after Dogg Food and D&YG. I will have more posts as I listen to it. Feel free to speak ya mind. Oh yeah if you want the 3 bonus tracks, buy it from Best Buy. If ya didn't, holla at me.
-
Album just came out today. I can't give an opinion on this until at least a week of soak time.
-
I hear ya. The more I listen to it, I will post what I think. Crazy to think Pull Ya Drawz Down is one of the first official songs Snoop has appeared and rapped with Daz on that Daz has produced in a while. I know there are alot of unreleased cuts Daz supposedly produced but it has been a while since I have heard Snoop on some Daz beats.

It sounds damn good so far, but I don't wanna say too much yet. All I can say is it sounds really good after like 1 spin.
-
Blaze It Up is a nice posse cut. The beat was not what I was expecting but this turned out dope. Good to hear Jayo Felony back doing it.
-
How many threads do we need about this album?

Jayo gotta be my favorite MC but that was one of his worst verses ive heard in a long time

How many threads do we need about this album?
Like I said, I have not heard the album until today and I don't feel like finding the other 30 threads on this and posting something. I always do a appreciation thread the week a album is out. I did one for Evidence. If it's a problem, the mods should delete it. No big deal.
-
definite improvement, solid/consistent album as well. I think I may have killed some of the experience by peeping every single leaked track and playing them out. I cant listen to vibe/1n1out/where u from/etc, But I did think that introduction song was hard as hell, one of my favorite tracks off the bitch. I think this is what D&YG2 should have been, later on after I buy it I might make a compillation mixing DC and D&YG2 tracks since the blending and meshing would be pretty identical.

^
Word..Do you really need a week to actually appreciate and make up ur mind about an album??
Cool..I usually make up my mind after a listening to the album from track one=>the last track..after I've bought it....
But I'll try and give it a little more time span than just a a couple of spins!
-
After first listening I'm really feelin this. RBX kills it in Bucc 'em. Also I like the hooks Snoop did... 8)
-
'Make a move for ya gat and ill bury ya, make a move for ya gat and ill bury ya...' thats my shit right there.
-
Daz knows that DPG sound. The album sounds uniform and it flows from track to track. That beat for Bucc Em is :o

I have to let an album soak, cuz u catch things you don't catch the first time. It's like working at a job that u might love the first day but after a week, straight up hate it.

Story of My life..lol..
But you are right, about letting the music soak in..after one needs some sort assurance that the money we spent on a CD is really worth it!

that track is straight Death Row right there 8)

I mobbed to LBC to hit VIP records and they didn't have it with the bonus tracks. So I rebought D&YG1 for the second time (no longer had a copy). Then I hit the Best Buy in Long Beach and they were sold out of DC.
Then I hit the Best Buy in Rancho Cucamonga, they didn't have it. and I was gonna go to San bernardino to hit that Best buy but it was 8:50 when I was gonna do this and they close at 9.
also, my brand new ass copy of Dillinger and young gotti came with a fucked up inner case, and the disc was burnt so cheaply it skips a grip. i'm really mad at daz right now.

and no other of the 3 or so albums I listened to on the drive skipped at all

Yeah this album is about what I expected also. A solid album, nice beats and Kurupt improving on the mic.
-
after one day of bumpin this shit
it ranks behind Doggfood and D&YG and ties with D&YGII... but far better then CIA
but give me a week or bumpin to really know my exact rating
-
Man this album is growing on me. Get Out My Way kicks off this album sooo gangsta. DPGC has been dropping alot of projects the last couple of years and this year already we got Dogg Chit and Bangin Westcoast and The Big Squeeze next month.

yea, the intro is fucken sick! 8)

D O G G C H I T
that kid. that shit is dope as fuck
-
I have listened to it about 3 times all the way through and it is still good to me. Would have been nice to hear some Nate Dogg and have a Rage verse on here but overall it is still DPGC music to the fullest. Good follow up to CIA with that album being so left field to what DPG does.
-
It's a Very Good album !
i got what i expected !!
With some bangers :
1 N 1 Out ( my Fav )
Vibe
Throw Ya Hood Up
Where U From
It's A Good Azz Day
Blast On Em
& The funky Can't Get Enough with TOO $Hort !!
For me Dogg Food --> Dillinger & Youg Gotti --> Dogg Chit
-
Man this album is growing on me. Get Out My Way kicks off this album sooo gangsta.
yeah such a hard track 8)
-
Shoot em up was the classic track out of the whole album. 4.5/5
-
there are 12 dope songs
Everybody
Anybody Killa
Vibe Wit A Pimp
Can't Get Enough
Dat Ain't My Baby
Where U From
Throw Ya Hood Up
It'z A Good Azz Day
Pull Ya Draws Down
Blast on 'em
Bucc 'em
Blaze it Up
the rest have some decent Kurupt verses but Daz's really dark synthesized production on those songs offers me nothing. if this album has taught me anything, it's that daz needs to stick to g-funk cause he's still dope at it. where you from/throw ya hood up/good azz day is such a good run of 3 dope songs. that's the best moment on the album to me, those 3 consecutive songs, flow perfect like 95. that intro is nice too, too bad i really don't like get out my way. does anyone else think the first 2 songs sound exactly the same?

Give a listen to "Shit happens" on D&YG, it's much better than the whole Dogg Chit album...
I'ma huge DPG fan but you must realize they're washed up, sad but true :-\

i am juuust as familiar with D&YG as DC, if not more. and though shit happens(as well as a bunch of other tracks on the album) is tight. it doesn't take away the dopeness of
'good azz day'
'vibe'
'where u from' -possibly best track
'anybody killa'-possibly best track
'blaze it up'-the most original track on the album, and it's a banger.
D&YG is just as spotty and weak/inconsistent as DC for all the same reasons.
daz doesn't spit a verse on blaze it up, does he?

I have bumped this now about 5 or 6 times and I like the album. Nothing that I really skip, but there are a few bland tracks. The "Ho" tracks they make are bland to me. You can't top Bomb Azz Pussy. 1 N 1 Out sounds great in the system.
-
still not diggin 1 n 1 out's beat but the raps is cool, skipper for me
but the g funk on this album is still as good as when they invented it man. where u from is one of the best DP songs ever to me. mind you guys i didn't hear the track till now cause I didn't listen to it when it first leaked.

I really don't dig the beat much either but the bass and reverb in a system is insane. Dipp With Me was another track that would shake my whole car. Coastin too. I hope Dogg Chit does decent numbers and they decide to do more than 1 single.

given that it was sold out at every best buy i hit, i fuckin' hope so.
dipp wit me and coastin had some funk to them though, 1 n 1 out sounds like some shit styles p would diss someone to

I hear you. But Kurupt was spittin on that song though. I just dig the album. It's good to hear some dope music from them again. I am definitely anticipating the Kurupt solo album on Doggystyle now.

Yeah on Doggystyle/Koch. He said in that dubcnn interview he has 3 tracks from Mel-Man. :o
Kurupt and Fred Wreck always make dope music together. I think DPGC has got a nice thing going right now. Everyone is getting along and collabing to make dope music. They are like a west coast Wu-Tang. Self contained, no need for rappers or beats, everything is home grown if they want it to be.

yeah i realized while listening to dogg chit, if Kurupt wants to rap over a dre beat, he'll rap over a dre beat (ie: anybody killa) so it's all good, you know? they'll do what they do and there will be some dope shit.

I am glad they are not waiting on Dre to collaborate. All of them have dope albums without Dre's beats so they can stand on this own. Kurupt can pick from Daz, Fred Wreck, Soopafly and a host of others so he is good. Same with Snoop now.

i still think snoop has as much access to dre as anyone, but he just has to touch bases with so many people there's too many reasons to not hook up with dre for more than 3 tracks per album.

Because Dre takes so long. He even said it, he was listening to a beat mix Dre had and picked out Boss Life. Shit Dre and Snoop should be making some shit from scratch in the studio. album is ok nothin great I think it was over hyped and over rated like everything dpg drops nowadays. I think Kurupt rhyming style is just horrible he needs to quit sayn muthufucka

It's a cool album for me, nothing like Dogg Food but I can enjoy the tracks on it.

Where U From is dope as fuck. Lovin Kurupt's verse on this one. Real smooth beat.

contender for best song on album. sounds so fresh. better than any song on timbo's new joint.
fuck genre labels, this song and all the g funk on this album is good music. daz should stop caring what anyone thinks and do what he's good at: g motherfuckin funk.

The album is growing alot on me. Especially the beats on here. Throw Your Hood Up has got a nice beat too.

throw your hood up is easily one of the best on the record. growing on me too..."it's begun!" I think I may buy this anyway despite how much I feel suckered by Daz in the last week.
damn, a few contenders for best song on the album
Blaze it up(most original style dogg pound track in years "and we'll be smokin with them see through papers" so dope)
Vibe
Good azz day
Where u from
anybody killa
all contenders^

Tha Dogg Pound
Soopafly
Bad Azz
RBX
TLO Rage
Techniec
Slip Capone
C Style(both of 'em)
Half dead
Baby S
Crooked I
Tray Deee(somehow)
Butch cassidy
Danny Boy
Charlie Wilson, Blaqtoven
Bigg Pimpin' Delemond
Hershy loc(Mr Malik)
Roscoe
with production from
daz, fred wreck, battlecat, mel man
and ONE dr.dre posse cut, cause come on man, he set the whole dpg thing off, would be the shit.
it'd be insanely easy to make such an album. it would pretty much be a compilation, but i'd be down as shit

Yeah I could definitely work. That or just have Daz and Snoop sign all of the members and start dropping albums from everyone. I know that was what Snoop was trying to do with Dogghouse Records in the beginning.

Brotha Lynch and RBX had the dopest spots on the whole album IMO and then Game, Kurupt's rhyme pattern for a while has been to rhyme something before he ends with muthafucka so it' s all good I just think he likes saying muthafucka alot, I like when he slows his flow down nowadays he seems to come more lyrical when he does that
-
Just bought it today, and I'm glad I did. The real CD sounded a lot better than the downloaded version, it must have been a shitty rip. I hope this one grows on me some more, but there's at least half the tracks that are great.
-
I just have this album on random on my cd player. Bucc Em is dope as fuck too.
RBX is ridiculous "we is the niggaz that started death row"
-T
Yeah he caught me off guard when he said that. I wish Rage could have been on this album. She would have murdered this beat.
i want an album that is credited to 'DPGC' with
213
Tha Dogg Pound
Soopafly
Bad Azz
RBX
TLO Rage
Techniec
Slip Capone
C Style(both of 'em)
Half dead
Baby S
Crooked I
Tray Deee(somehow)
Butch cassidy
Danny Boy
Charlie Wilson, Blaqtoven
Bigg Pimpin' Delemond
Hershy loc(Mr Malik)
Roscoe
with production from
daz, fred wreck, battlecat, mel man
and ONE dr.dre posse cut, cause come on man, he set the whole dpg thing off, would be the shit.
it'd be insanely easy to make such an album. it would pretty much be a compilation, but i'd be down as shit
-T
You definetely smoked too much...

why do you say that?
not that i disagree, but I'm curious.

Because I think such "I wish"-posts are retarding. I read that so often "I wish Dre could produce a whole Snoop album again", "I wish Warren would do G-Funk with the Twins again" and all that shit. And what bothered me somehow was that there are names on the list, that don't have to do anything with the original DPGC. I don't want to diss you but I read so much retarding and dumb shit on the board, sometimes I get a bit angry and do such posts. Don't take it serious homie...
-
I think he knew that many of those names have nothin to do with DPGC, but he probably just thinks that they would be great guest featured on a future DPGC album.

this album gets better everytime I listen to it

I was expecting more. But the 4 tracks they put on they my myspace page was on point.
-
Going through my first listen of this now, sounding much better than I had anticipated after the mess that was CIA. I agree the first two tracks sound exactly the same as one another like someone else said.
Coming from someone who doesn't even like The Game, he completly ripped Anybody Killa, certainly made me sit up and take notice. I will post some more impressions once I get to the end of the album.
-
Just finished a road trip to Arizona and bumped this, the new Paul Wall and Young Buck and I am loving this album. Bucc Em is my favorite cut right now. There are alot of stores out in Phoenix that do not have this album either.

I jump from track to track as to what I am bumping at the moment. Now it's Blaze It Up. Bucc Em has a cold ass beat to me.

Bucc Em is up there with those classic Death Row joints, sick ass beat and everybody rips it 8)
-
i really like Get Out Of My Way, Vibe, Throw Ya Hood Up, and It'z A Good Azz Day. Classic tracks in my book. I haven't touched the bonus ones yet. I was happy to hear that good day track since I heard that shit on the radio and dug it a lot but didn't know the name.

i like alot of tracks better than bucc'em as well, but I think bucc'em is tight. woulda been dope if snoop had a verse.
good azz day, vibe, where u from, blaze it up-all classic shit. and there's a good 6-8 more solid tracks in addition to those on the record. i'ma buy this next time i see the full version

The more I listen Dogg Chit the more I like it. Right now favourite joints seem to be:
Where U From - Cool song, Bad Azz comes tight
It'z A Good Azz Day - The hook is soooo dope. Perfect song for the summer. 8)
Blaze It Up - Very nice song. Everyone is good but BG Knocc Out kills it. (To me the hook sounds similar to Sittin On 23z? Just the way Daz yells it. ;D)
-
could someone send me the track Blaze It Up? i'm planning on going to best buy real soon to cop this, but i just wanna hear this track right now because i'm a big bg knocc out and dresta fan. thanks in advance.
-
after first listen i would say :
Throw Ya Hood Up
Thiz Gangsta Shit
Dat Ain't My Baby (reminds me a little bit of the death-row 2Pac songs)
Can't Get Enough (with a cool too short rap)
Vibe
Anybody Killa
Everybody
Bucc Em
this tracks my favorites right now...
-
Damn, Kurupt sounds great on this cd so far, I'm not feeling the 2 pussy tracks though >:(

yeah they're no" Bomb Azz Puzzy" or "If We All Fuc", but Kurupt really brought the lyrics this time on most of the tracks

or a child star like matt damon or keifer sutherland
LOL good shit, I love that line. he rips 'where u from'...was Matt damon a child star though? did he mean matt dillon?

This is a really good and solid album, nothing spectacular but everyone does their thing and it all works well.
Kurupt may still have some parts of the album where his lyrics are a little unimaginative (the first song springs to mind!), but overall he does well and at least he's flowing on beat throughout the whole thing, something that he hasn't always done recently.
The album is very much in the style of Dillinger and Young Gotti with the synth work and I think that style works really well with them and is definitely something they should continue with.
Overall I was very pleasantly suprised, much better than I had imagined it could be.
PS - props for the Ginsberg quote Tanjibility, I find some of his writing incredibly hard to decifer but it always seems to leave a lasting impression on me, so he must have been doing something right.

That sums it up for me.

I agree for the most part but
a)I feel the sound is quite different from DYG, but they're both pretty dope.
b)while I can take some of the synth, I appreciate it way more when daz uses real instruments (a la 'on tha grind' from R.A.W.)
c)Thanks, his first two books, short collections of poetry Howl and Kaddish are pretty accessible and some of my favorite Beat literature. His poem "Is About" isn't in either of those, but also a really accessible relatively straightforward poem. He is one of my favorites.
Props on the Hunter Thompson signature. the way you described how you feel about Ginsberg is how I feel about him. he was really influenced by ginsberg and the other beats.

I'm feeling "Thiz Gangsta Chit Iz Ours" track right now, reminds me when I fist heard "Coastin" I wasn't digging it but it grew on me, same with this
-
Yeah I copped my copy yesterday from Best Buy. I was plesantly suprised so far i'm feelin these traks the most. . .
Anybody Killa
I'll Bury Ya
Mo Murder
-
good day is incredible
-
good day is sickadiddy indeed.
i really am not feeliin mo murder or thiz gangsta shit iz ourz that much at all, but i am not hating...just not my thing
Gangsta shit is ourz is actually funny to me, almost self parody.
STILL lovin: where u from, throw ya hood, good day,...
the one that i've been feelin that I didn't at first is "everybody". "Eagles don'y fly in packs/bout to break that tradition soopafly in the back" is so perfect cause daz dropped the beat to accent the vocals and it's so dope cause it cements the reunion of tha DP to hear Kurupt shout Soopa like that. dope shit

OK, I have listened to each song at least once, and there is one huge difference between this and CIA & D &YGII, Kurupt actually sounds comfortable rapping on most of the tracks. He's finally flowing again, and has at least good lyrics throught the album. I'm still having a hard time believeing it.
The production isn't the best in the world, some of it's pretty dated but all in all this was so much better than I think anyone expected it too be.
Daz's rapping is average on most tracks as usual and alot of the tracks were similar, but they do sound good together, and any DPG fan is gonna appreciate this. As far as guests go, I liked Snoop on Vibe, but the other 2 tracks were just so so. The Game had a great verse, which suprised me & Lynch really did his thing. I thought Too Short's verse was garbo, "Saditiy" was way better, and I wasn't feelin RBX. The last track with Malone, Jayo, Bg & Dresta was sick, no one came off as good as Kurupt did, but they were all dope in there own way.
I'll give this a strong 3.5/5...only because alot of the tracks were the same shoot em up tracks, and alot of Daz's verses were interchanable, but this is still a great album.
-
blast on em made the album tight.
-
i haven't really given this album the attention it deserves since I got red gone wild & return of the mac. that and I just got whut thee album in the mail ;D
-
as a DPG fan I am very satisfied with this album, I don't know much about this dude Ivan Johnson but he was involved alot in this album co-producing almost every track as well as doing work on Dillinger & Young Gotti 2, gotta give props to that cat
-
best album of 07 so far, my favorite tracks:
Get Out Of My Way
I'll Bury Ya
Everybody
Anybody Killa (feat. The Game)
1 N 1 Out
Itz A Good Ass Day
Thiz Gangsta Chit Iz Ourz
Blast On 'Em (feat. Brotha Lynch Hung)
Blaze It Up (feat. G. Malone & Jayo Felony & BG Knocc Out & Dresta)
Bucc Em (feat. Snoop Dogg & RBX)
-
Blaze It Up is a nice posse cut. The beat was not what I was expecting but this turned out dope. Good to hear Jayo Felony back doing it.
Jayo gotta be my favorite MC but that was one of his worst verses ive heard in a long time
Yep, didn't like his verse at all...
