Title: one West Coast album for the rest of your life...
Post by: WestCoasta on December 26, 2005, 08:34:16 PM
you're on an island trapped, blah blah blah

you can have one album for the rest of your life and you gotta pick wisely or you'll feel like a dipshit, what would it be

I'd choose "Rhythm-al-ism"  :)    I wouldn't get tired of that shit  ;D

you're on an island trapped, blah blah blah

this is a weird question.  if i can only have one hip hop album to listen to, it's going to be kam's made in america:

because that is the album with the most meaning to me, and also my favorite song of all time "trust nobody".

but if i'm on a desert album, i probably don't care as much for meaning as i normally would.  so on a desert island i might actually choose differently.

on a desert island i'm going to take:

really some of the smoothest g-funk ever.

but if i only have one album on an island i'd probably pick an r&b album and not a hip hop album.

No I dont think so...

The Chronic had more impact and influence then Doggystyle.

The Chronic was more diverse lyrically and beat wise then Snoop's album even though it had better production.

all i'm saying is i think doggystyle sounds better.  if i'm on an island i don't care which album had the greater impact.  no question "the chronic" had the greater impact.  i'd argue "straight outta compton" had an even greater impact than "the chronic" or "efil4zaggin".

that's really not the question.  if we're asking which album sounds better, i'm taking "doggystyle" over "the chronic" anyday.  better beats (although the chronic brought heat) and i'd rather hear snoop instead of dr dre anyday.

ditto "efil4zaggin".  i don't listen to albums because of "influence" or "popularity".   i listen to what sounds good.

additionally, on a desert island i don't want to hear disses.  listening to "the chronic" makes me want to hear eazy's responses and also b.g. knocc out & dresta.   this is part of the reason why i didn't choose "real brothas", although i may be over analyzing the question there.

I didn't read all the choice, but i guess i'm the first to choose "Doggfather".

Imo opinion it's perfect, smooth and hard at the same time...  You got track like Doggfather and Sixxx Minutes, and then you got heater like 2001, Up Jump Tha Boogie and Gold Rush.

Chronic 2001 and Dogg Food are close second.
