i have no clue what my first cd was... it may have been Absolut Music 6 or 7 (one of those compilations with what was hot at the moment)... i just now i hade quite a few cd's before i got into rap....
My first rap-tape was a compilation called Yo! Mega Dance Rap or something... had Digital Underground, Fresh Prince, DJ Quik++ on it. Probaby in 92-93..
My first rap-cd was Coolio's Gangsta's Paradise... that album was a huge commercial success in Norway, and i got into (commercial) rap around that time....

First CD - Michael Jackson - Dangerous

All Eyez On Me 8)

I spent so much time buying tapes, even well into the 90s', since I used to make mixtapes for my car and the gym and this was in the days before CD burners. I'm nearly positive that "Gangsta's Paradise" by Coolio was actually the first CD I bought, but even after that, I was still buying mostly tapes and CDs only sparingly. I don't think I switched over to buying only CDs' until around 99-2000.
-
2Pac - Greatest Hits
For Hip Hop CDs mine too, I think the first music CD I've bought was Queen's Greatest Hits II :D

gangsta...

First tape, since I was buying tapes way before cd's:
bobby brown - don't be cruel
First cd I bought was used and it was:
mary j blige - what's the 411
you have excellent taste. bobby brown's "i'll be good to you", that song is so fly; it still sounds good to this day. and mary j's "love no limit", just a beautiful song. i bump both of those songs, and a couple others from those albums, regularly.
cats can clown bobby all they want, he had some jams. plus he let cats know from day one on my prerogative that he was going to wild out and do his thing.
