Get an iPod (20 or 40 GB).

You can create playlists of whatever you want using iTunes on your computer and it syncs to the iPod everytime you plug it in to your computer.

Creative Zen Touch 40GB

$100 cheaper than Ipod 40GB, and 2-3x times the battery capacity + better design.
With the new firmware, you don't need drivers and works like a external disk.
I have yet to see a hardware site who says Ipod is a better purchase than Creative Zen Touch.

Ordered mine yesterday + a Monster CarPlay FM transmitter for playing in my car..  8)

Yeah, that's all about personal taste though.

I have an iPod (5GB) and an iRiver H340 (40GB).
I've looked in to these players quite a bit because my iPod is pretty useless now since it won't connect to my computer.  The Rio Karma is a good choice but the 40GB model is difficult to find but if you want a 20GB that's a good option.  The iRiver is better than the iPod because it's battery is better, it's cheaper, it has a color screen, an FM tuner and a few other little things.  The iPod is a good product but it's not the best, it's just the new "fad" of the moment.

Go with a Rio Karma or an iRiver.

Here's a pic of the iRiver H340:

I wanted to shop from U.S. myself cuz everything over there is cheap as fuck, but fucking FedEx wanted $89 to ship to Norway, and then there's taxes & customs, etc..

Apple producst and the iPod have always been about simplicity and ease of use.

I know some people with iRivers that have never used them because it's too complicated to transfer music and to actually navigate through it on the MP3 player.  People simply want to listen to their music... iPod does this the best.  It's really easy and simple with iPod + iTunes.  You install iTunes, you play your music with iTunes, you plug in the iPod, and it syncs with iTunes.  That's it.  The software, the player, the interface, and the design are all better with the iPod and iTunes.

There should be a study/research as to the number of iPods that get purchased and the percentage that actually GET USED, compared to the number of other MP3 players sold and the percentage that actually get used.  I think a high percentage of iPods sold actually get used because it's simple and easy to use.

You can't go wrong with an iPod.  Trust me.  I've had an iPod since they first came out and been USING it since.

I know some people with iRivers that have never used them because it's too complicated to transfer music and to actually navigate through it on the MP3 player.

Well, those people are quite stupid then.  If you know how to use a mouse and can find that Windows Explorer or My Computer icon then you shouldn't have a problem.

You can't go wrong with an iPod.

Yes you can.  I own one and from no fault of my own it doesn't connect to my computer anymore.
I'm not the only one, look here (http://www.ipodlounge.com/forums/showthread.php?s=085908c5f02892a6bec17822c93c2f50&threadid=54039).
