kid a could possibly be my least favorite radiohead album,
that strokes is def top 10, so is white stripes,
never heard that wilco (dling now),
the jigga deserves a top 15 spot, one of best rap albums to come out in a while,
i like arcade fire as well, top 10 could be a little high
i dont get the mia craze
eminem deserves his shit,
way too much love for kanye on the list
-
in general pretty eh list, rolling stone is such a joke, they suck too many artist's dick, but ill admitt that im def biased cause i like a certain style and really dislike certain styles
-
Ya that list mostly sucks dick just like rollingstone these days...MGMTs album is top 10 to me
-
-
808's? Really? Damn
-
LOL at all 4 Kanye albums making the list
-
-
you rap fans shouldnt be TOO surprised, but realistically, tell me what albums would you like to see on there?
-

I think they got it pretty right, Blueprint, Black Album, MMLP, Eminem Show, Get Rich, College Dropout, Graduation, Carter III all should of made it for their impact
Besides those there are no truely great rap albums that came out that musically or socially had that much of an impact. I'd like to have seen Game's Documentary on their
-
LOL at this list. Stopped reading when I saw Carter 3
-
...ohhhhhhhhhh, of the DECADE, lol......that's alright then.
-
I think numbering them is stupid, especially when the decade isn't over yet. Just put your favorite 100 leave it at that. In ten years some of that top 20 is going to seem ridiculous, and some albums not on the list will make people wonder.
-
63 | Kanye West: 808s and Heartbreak
um, what?
-
i think rolling stone tries to please too many people with their lists, appeal to different masses so as not to ignore any 'group', and shallow, even without numbers, theres a lot of albums that should be on there, and some on there that shouldnt be
-
808's? Really? Damn
yea..and it higher then grodt or eminem show :D..funny shiit
-
where is Slaughterhouse???

Yeah I know. I'm just saying numbering makes it even worse. The list itself will be fast fading joke in a few years and forgotten completely by the next list.

1. Jay-Z - Blueprint
2. Eminem - The Marshall Mathers LP
3. Kanye West - The College Dropout
4. Jay-Z - The Black Album
5. Outkast - Stankonia
6. Lil' Wayne - Tha Carter III
7. Outkast - Speakerboxxx/The Love Below
8. 50 Cent - Get Rich or Die Tryin'
9. Kanye West - Late Registration
10. Kanye West - Graduation.
basically the top 10 rap albums according to Rolling Stone.
Kanye has three of the top ten & i don't know if i can fully disagree with that; those albums were the bomb.
The College Dropout - a near classic.
Late Registration - a different sound from Kanye, with better beats & more diversity, in my opinion; not as good though.
Graduation - a complete album that i can bump from start to finish & if it had more replay value, i would put it just a small notch below The College Dropout.
swap Speakerboxxx/The Love Below with The Eminem Show & Tha Carter III with something, switch the order around & that may very well look like my top 10 for the last decade.
i mean, counting mostly mainstream albums of course, i hope none of you thought someone without radio exposure was cracking this list lol.

The Streets albums should be higher

Nas, yeah; he deserves a spot on the list.
as for the other three? na, not that surprised, just a little for Common.
-
Wow at all 4 Kanyes on there. His last 3 definitely do not belong there. Carter III above GRODT too. :-X
where is Slaughterhouse???
Thats a good one. :D

I just realized that according to RS every one of Kanye's albums are better than Stillmatic. While the album hasn't aged well (neither has Blueprint btw), Kanye sucks!

Where is diplomatic immunity?
-
That's actually a pretty okay list for Rolling Stone standards.
-

That list is bullshit. Jay-Z is all marketing, his shit is all plain, he's never done anything groundbreaking in his life.
Atleast Eminem was in the top 10 (should of been top 5 though). I also thought Stankonia was a good choice, so was Get Rich Or Die Trying and Eminem Show (should of been top 5 though). Some albums that should of made the list...
Talib Kweli- Train of Thought (Classic 10 out of 10)
Nas- Stillmatic (Classic 10 out of 10)
Nas- God's Son (Classic 10 out of 10)
Dead Prez- Let's Get Free (Classic 10 out of 10)
8 Mile Soundtrack (Eminem's two greatest songs on there, "Lose Yourself", "8 Mile Rd")
Xzibit- Restless LP (Solid 9 out of 10)
Snoop- The Last Meal (Solid 8 out of 10)

I agree except for Restless and Last Meal. Restless was a huge let down for me as an album, back then, and now and Last Meal was a nice Snoop album and refreshing after a lot of shit that came out by him but I don't think either should represent a best of the decade list. God Son can stay or go. I liked it a lot at first but it hasn't aged well for me, but Made You Look alone might get it in there.

id take lost tapes over gods son and stillmatic anyday
and for the record, i never thought this list was good in any way, but i do like a lot of albums on there, but too much indie shit for my taste, ill take white stripes and black keys discographies over 60% off that list, maybe 70

I'm mainly an indie rock fan, but the indie music that is there is pretty wack. Much better stuff out there, but it seems like RS has done this to all genres.
-
all 4 Kanyes but not even one Game or Nas? ::)
-
I'd put Cee-Lo's first album up there...did they have Common "Be"?
-
I stopped taking Rolling Stone's lists for music in general seriously a long time ago. This list proves no better, only that the list creator must really like Radiohead and Kanye West.
No Snoop Dogg, The Game, Linkin Park or Travis and the list is a joke, IMO.

There's no way a list like this can't be a joke. I could sit in a room for months with 1000 albums and just listen and grade. I could take all the time and care in the world to put a list together. But when it's all over, it'll only be the 100 albums I like best. And there will be plenty of awesome albums not on there that I've either never heard or didn't listen to enough to appreciate. And fans of those albums will call my list a joke. There will also be fans of specific genres that hate or don't get some of the genres I like and call some of the albums I put on there disgraceful. You cannot win with a top 100 list of albums with in a specific genre, so there's no point when you're crossing genres.
-
not a bad list. hard to hate on but hard to accept like
i find it hard to swallow to see jay albums up there but no Nas who I think is the superior artist
it's clearly a commercial list but it says tons that they can connect with many
