However well intentioned, notice how something like this just serves in dividing the population once again. This is spread through this idea that it's solely black people who are being demonised and brutalised, as numerous examples have proved, this just isn't so and yet this is solely about black people once again. I don't think you realise the mindset this creates, if you did, you would realise that this does not affect the establishment in the least.

That can be true. I was reading this little book I got from a hip hop function. And was basically saying how there won't truly be a revolution unless whites realize that they too are being oppressed.

Your right and it's a combination of many things, firstly it's a persecution complex from black people that only they can be persecuted because the overriding factor in all of this is a racist undertone and historically this is true. I am not going to try and pretend that black people haven't been brutalised. However the point is this, both through deliberate deception, the media and misconceptions, the black community's view is reinforced. Meanwhile the white people through a mixture of apathy, some who posess this superiority illusion and others who know that things are bad, are told well it's only the black community who are being oppressed and so therefore they fall into this mentality of going into their shell. Through this compartmentalization the establishment is able to weaken and override any attempts of unity.

I agree. Hip-hop is THE corporate market place for fools who feel they are revolutionary, just look through a fucking Source magazine, all this shit about 'buck the system', 'love yo hood', 'revolutionary' hip-hop clothing. Its all business and marketing aimed to cater for the simple-minded. It has to be bigger than hip-hop, or culture or race.

Word. But I dont think we are talking about revolution like the French style, storm the Bastille, run up on them crackers in their city hall, etc. But more an enlightenment revolution with generational change, change in people's thinking and attitudes, that seems more realistic. Educate yo nephews and kids yo, teach them shit they wouldnt learn in school. Revolution starts with the mind. The fact that people on this forum are interested in politics and history and outta this world shit pleases me, it shows yo brains are not in box.

Nothing wrong with boycotting the market to show how important the "black dollar" is to the economy. The Chicanos threatened to do the same with labor to show how they were needed. And it is a such thing as or rather lack thereof a "black dollar". Our money does not recycle enough in our communties. We gotta build and develop more lucrative businesses and support them.

everyone is being oppressed, it isnt a color thing. There's something like 380 billionaires in the world, that 1% doesnt give a fuck about the rest of us. Billions of people dont have access to clean water.. Y'know how many of the worlds problems would be solved if those 380 people were killed and their money put towards shit like healthcare, agricultural and irrigation systems?
That said... Im pretty well off under the Canadian system, free healthcare and all that good stuff. But once you factor in all the taxes we pay, and the student loans i owe....the govt pretty much owns my ass
