http://www.rapbasement.com/50-cent/102509-50-cent-says-his-upcoming-album-is-not-only-a-prequel-but-better-than-his-first-album.html
50 Cent is making it clear that he feels his upcoming "Before I Self Destruct" album is better than his first and insanely successful album. During a recent interview, the G-Unit general said "I think it's a project that they will say is better than "Get Rich Or Die Tryin" because I had more time to think out and write out exactly what I wanted to say on this record." why is it classic? because every one says so?
it's a matter of opinion.
-
His first album was tight, after that it's been downhill.
-
The fact that he compares every project with GRODT proves that he's still obsessed with trying to recreate that era.
Hov' on that new shit, niggaz like "How come?"
Niggaz want my old shit, buy my old album
Niggaz stuck on stupid, I gotta keep it movin
Niggaz make the same shit, me I make +The Blueprint+

Lets be honest, do you consider it a classic music wise? There was a few filler on it.

isn't every album in music/aspect of like opinion?
what makes Michael Jackson, Biggie Smalls, Marlon Brando, so good at what they did?
anyway, i felt Get Rich or Die Tryin' was a near classic, not a certified classic, but almost there; but some amazing tracks & possibly the single of the decade in In Da Club.
-
highly doubt it will be better than get rich
-
highly doubt it will be better than get rich
I seriously think if he really made an effort, there is no reason why it can't be. Because GRODT wasn't really that amazing of an album. For me, the tracks that were good on it were awesome and there were a few average ones. But at the end of the day, I think you're right. ;D
-
this is classic music.

With tracks like Baby By Me it's already not better than Get Rich. Even Crime Wave isn't worthy of Get Rich status.
Get Rich is a classic.

yeah every album is but some people start to forget that their opinion isn't fact.

;D The Ultimate Pianist agrees. haha is that you playing Fantaisie impromptu op. 66?
-
That is what he is supposed to say. Most artists believe their most recent material is their best. Hell Snoop even said people told him Blue Carpet Treatment was the best album he ever did. :D
-
no it isnt me. i dont know how to play. i passed out to this song and had to rewind 11 hours of music to figure out what it was.
-
I think WE should decide which album is better. This is about as reliable as Game sayin R.E.D album is better than The Documentary... We will see 8)
-
Get Rich was very fuckin' good, but the following songs keep it from classic status:
Like My Style
Poor Lil Rich
Blood Hound
they weren't bad, but pretty fuckin' average imo.

co-sign this except "Blood Hound" was my shit 8)
GRODT is a personal classic to me, but I wouldn't say it's a hip-hop classic

I Co-Sign this minus Blood Hound and Poor Lil Rich. I love both of those tracks, but I didn't like P.I.M.P. and Like My Style.

come to think of it I digged "Poor Lil Rich" too, "Like My Style" was straight but I agree with that being an average track keeping it from a classic 8)

21 Questions?
-
It's a classic album. There's not many albums that have such playability. The album is cohesive. It flows. It tells the 50 cent story. It had multiple type tracks - club, woman, gangsta, shoot'em up, etc.

It was a love song made for the chicks. I guess you're into that?

"21 Questions" is good for a mainstream, bitch song.

But speaking as a guy, how can you call that song dope? I didn't buy GRODT to hear a fucking love song. Its the last thing I want to hear from 50.

I didn't mean dope as in what I could call other tracks "dope", but I would rather bump this over any other bitch songs on the radio

But the point is you shouldn't want to bump ANY bitch songs on the radio. That's like me calling A Millie a dope song just because Lollipop is worse. I wouldn't be caught dead bumping either because both are trash.
-
GRODT is easily a classic and I'm a Game fan. How can anyone hate on that album.
-
Of course he's gonna say his new album is gonna be better than his previous ones. Is he supposed to say it's just as good or worse? LOL

21 questions was his best song about chicks, it had a message and a substance, so why he shouldnt like it?
-
i think this is just more of 50's shameless self-promotion. he's not gonna come out saying the albums not quite up to scratch with his previous work is he?
-
GRODT was good but not a classic. 5-6 decent tracks at best. The Massacre was a far better album IMO, even with all the filler.

In other news, Microsoft spoke on the release of Windows 7. "It's not quite up to the standards set by Windows Vista, but hey, it's a pretty decent Operating System after all."

Just admit you like songs for the bitches.
I know half of you grew up on that song so maybe its not your fault you like it.

Yeap "Poor Lil Rich" was my shit, that song goes hard. Get Rich is a modern day classic easily, if you don't respect the music just look at the effect that album had on the game
-
so he makes an aiight first album then makes 2 wack albums and now all of a sudden he has a miracle thats gonna be better than all of them?

as the die heart Game fan you are, i wouldn't exactly be laughing.
at least there isn't P. Diddy, Lady GaGa & Gucci Mane features. :-X
-
The album is a classic as far as its impact on the hip hop industry. It was one of the biggest albums to come out in years.
As far as quality, its a decent pop album, but not what I'd consider a masterpiece. When it came out I thought it was sick, but now that I'm older and listen to a lot more hip hop, its not as great as I used to think it was.
-
Of course he's gonna say his new album is gonna be better than his previous ones. Is he supposed to say it's just as good or worse? LOL
i wish they would be honest for once.

lol. my karma has gone down by 10 since I said that 21 Questions was a crappy song for the bitches. I didn't know that many of you were into that type of music.

No. 21 questions was one of the few joints which was aimed at women that was also shown love by niggaz. Them joints made strictly for chicks like magic stick is on some other shit, but 21 questions was a heated. And i aint even big on 50 at all.

Regarding the title of this thread:
What do u think he is gunna come out n say that it isnt gunna be as good as GRODT??? lol of course he is gunna say that. And from what I have heard so far it surely doesnt seem like it will be as good.
-
21 questions can be related by anyone who's had issues with a relationship. The lyrics are more universal in application. It's shit people wonder when they're with somebody.
-
i like the first line in 21 questions:
'If I fell off tommorow would you still love me?'

Every artist is gonna think the album they are working on at the moment is their best one. It's where their heart is at. At least, it should be. I mean if you don't think the project you're working on is your best work, you shouldn't be putting it out. I mean, time will eventually reveal where the work stands but your mindstate at the moment should be it's the best.

50 has never said any of his albums were as good as Get Rich or better, he said Curtis had a similiar sound to Get Rich but he never compared it to a similiar quality...

So then why do people clown on Ja Rule when he was saying the exact same shit? It doesn't make sense. The only explanation is that 50 was considered hot at the time. I'd put 100 down that if 21 Questions came out today, no one would be feeling it. At the end of the day, its still a corny love song.

^^ Ja Rule was trying to hit high notes and belt out ballads himself, he didn't stick to rapping

So in the end, he lied. Thread closed now.
