Title: Ja Rule To Give Fans A Break From His Music
Post by: .:Hercy Buggz:. on May 12, 2003, 01:41:50 PM
We've seen it happen to plenty of labels — Bad Boy, Cash Money, No Limit, Def Jam and Death Row. Label executives ride a wave of commercial success, putting out nothing but hits, only to eventually hit a wall and slide into utter obscurity. While some companies are able to bounce back and be embraced once again by the public, others ultimately fall by the wayside. Murder Inc., home to acts such as Ashanti and Ja Rule, is trying hard to avoid that fate.

Having gone through a bit of a rough patch these past few months — the label is in the middle of an ongoing federal investigation stemming from a raid of its New York offices back in January — company CEO Irv Gotti says he's well aware of the backlash, especially when it comes to his biggest star, Ja Rule (see "Murder Inc. Offices Raided By Feds").

Case in point: Ja's 2002 LP, The Last Temptation, is his lowest selling since his debut, Venni Vetti Vecci, and his current single, "The Reign," isn't getting the record-breaking radio spins the Queens MC has grown accustomed to. On a recent episode of BET's "106 and Park," fans panned the song's video and called for Ja to stop singing so much. To make matters worse, the public has been showing overwhelming support for Rule's lyrical foe, 50 Cent.

"Rule's been out since 1999. He came out in 1999 and we dropped an album every year since [then]," Gotti said Saturday, rationalizing Ja's seemingly fading popularity. "He's been on the radio — probably the most played rap artist [from] 1999 till now. I'll give the people that — maybe y'all want a little break from my man. I'll give you six months. Y'all could ride with whoever. [Regardless of what they say,] it's all good 'cause they talking about my man. As long as y'all talking about my man, we'll deliver."

Gotti says that Rule is going to keep relatively silent during the next half year (Should Ja Rule keep quiet for six months? Take our poll). He's been turning down interviews and the two aren't thinking about dropping Ja's next album until sometime in 2004.

"We're going to come with a double album 'cause [there's] a lot to talk about," Gotti revealed. "We're going go make some records. When the records are finished, the album will come out."

ya supposedly he is going to do more movies, what a loser, i didn't mind his songs but then he got to r&b, i honestly think if he makes a double cd, he is going to have to have some hella tight tracks, which we know won't be, secondly he is going to have to drop the price on that shit cuz we all know, no one is going to pay the cost of a double disc album from ja rule, i dont see much support for him on this album when it's released.

Why does every rapper suddenly think they can act? Only a handful of them can, and it just results in alot of crappy movies with big name stars. Anyways, Ja is the most played rap artist since 1999? That's kinda hard to believe..

6 months isnt nearly long enough. people who come out with an album every year or so stay quiet for 6 months. although this is the best news ive had in a while

Yeah, Foxy Brown said it..

The punk needs to retire, period !!
(Unless he goes back to his actual rap-roots, which I seriously doubt he will)
And LOL @ MTV calling him a "Queens MC".. they're living in the past..
Correct would be "Westside wannabe Queens diva"

What'd be cool is if he DID release a double as his last album, the extra cost would make it twice as easy to leave in the bin.

Man.....  ::)

The hating on Ja Rule started WAY BEFORE he had beef with "our heroes"  ::) in Shady/Aftermath.
Ever since he went pop/r'n'b, the hating began from the real hiphop-heads..

You saying he didn't sell the fuck out ??
You saying he doesn't do DUETS with his fellow r'n'b divas ??
You encouraging his constant Pac-mockin, and repeated "Westside"-shouts ??

WAKE UP AND REALIZE, JA RULE FELL THE FUCK OFF, EVEN BITCH ASS LIL MO IS CLOWNIN' ON HIS SORRY ASS !!!!

He's right tho...

no matter what some people are currently saying about ja (because of the record label beefs)
i know for a fact that lots of poeple here hated Ja for couple years now because they dont agree with his style and the market his records are produced specifically for...ie move him far outta rap style he began with and into a commercial, watered down hiphop line tossing rnb song.

Now i dont mean to sound biased...i dont like ja's music as a whole...
...but as radio stations play his music more than any others i do find myself listening to it...
...then humming it...
...then hating myself ;)

but if he does take a break...maybe something good will come out of it...
..maybe he develop himself as an artists more when he takes time out..
..lets face it cant do his career any harm...all the teeny boppers who listen to the chart shows will still buy his records...

I feel your opinion homie...
But the script could be flipped and thrown right back at the hater's...
If we let the music speaks for itself.
If Ja is guilty of making "Duet's" and singing on "Hook's" and his R&B ties are the reason "true" hip-hop head's hate on him then it makes no sense why 50 cent get's so much love for doing the same thing.
Eminem the same thing....he sing's aswell.
they have all (Rapper's) collaborted with R&B star's at one point.
50 & Ja even share J.Lo as a "Duet".

I'm just tryin' to figure out the real reason peep's hate on Ja Rule, and the only thing I can come up with is that he's against Eminem, 50 cent, Snoop Dogg, and get's the majority of the imatation flack going down in the industry.....but let's face it everyone think's they are Pac or Big.

It's the hip-hop thing to do now, If you want to collab with the top dog's Aftermath/Shady you must not associate with "Wink" "Wink" Murder INC or Deathrow.

It's fuckin' up hip-hop

P.S:
Yo Engel I just saw that quote and had to respond to it.
I respect your's and everyone's opinion in this forum.

I feel that..
a break will do everyone involved some good.
I think Murder INC thinking is that 50's reign will pass by and the bopper's will get tired of him.
(I don't see this going down at all..50 is here to stay)

I just hope this beef don't end up in Hamburger...cause eventualy they gotta "meat" up.....lol

There's a BIG difference.
Ja Rule is singing together with J.Lo, Ashanti, or whoever on the tracks, and 16 actual bars from him is rare as fuck.
Now, 50 might do hooks, but hooks make up like 2% of his actual performance..
Cuz he's a rapper! And I can't say that about Ja nowadays..

Same thing with Eminem.. 2% hooks, and 98% hiphop!

50's singin hooks.. Ja's singing songs..

Ja (as far as I know) never had a sinlge without RnB artists eversince Pain Is Love dropped

back when 50 was doing a collabo with J. Lo he tried to get recognized by doint that.. cuz he wasn't known for shit.. that's why he's that mad at Nas for being replaced by him.. this collabo coulda get him sum real exposure

an average Ja song is feat.Ashanti.. that's a big difference right there

on 50's album there's not even one RnB artist (I don't consider Nate RnB)

he did that track with Mary J Blige lately but that's about it

I'm just tryin' to figure out the real reason peep's hate on Ja Rule, and the only thing I can come up with is that he's against Eminem, 50 cent, Snoop Dogg, and get's the majority of the imatation flack going down in the industry.....but let's face it everyone think's they are Pac or Big.
everyone mentiones them but not even ANYone claims he actually IS them.. dunno what Ja was thinkin when he said he was Pac but he did say it plus he's doing all that other bitin shit.. nobody ever did it like him

and like people said before, the hatin on Ja started way before 50 even signed with the Math (for the reasons I named^^)
