As a Raider fan, God I hope so. Then maybe they'll fire Dennis Allen.

They should've never fired Tom Cable as far as I'm concerned.

Imagine the Raiders with Cable this year, after Cable was found to have hit 3 women. Nah, I could leave Cable. I wish they still had Jackson. Reggie's biggest mistake was his first.

^ Lol that's a fair point. He got 'em to .500 though which is a lot more than anyone else can say in the last decade or so. Love having him as the Hawks assistant coach.

Yeah, I wonder why the raiders thought there was something special about Dennis Allen.  Some raider fans say fire the GM also.

Many Raider fans were mad that they fired Hue Jackson. When Al died, Mark hired Reggie McKenzie because Al made all the football decisions, and Mark was not a football guy. Mark was trained to be a scout, but he was much more comfortable handling the business end of running a team instead of the football end. Al hired Amy Trask to run the business end of the Raiders well he handled the football end. Mark Davis fired Amy and he took over the business end, and then hired Reggie McKenzie to handle the football end. And Reggie and Hue Jackson were friend, but Reggie wanted to start fresh with the Raiders and build them up through the draft. Only problem, first year they had no picks. Reggie decided to fire Hue Jackson, even though the Raiders offense had many unique weapons like Terrelle Pryor and Denarius Moore and Hue was a creative offensive mind who specialized in getting these talents the ball. Reggie wanted to get a defensive coach. So he looked to Denver.

Denver in 2011 was coming off a year in which Tebowmania was running wild. The problem, Tebow actually sucked and Denver's defense was holding teams down in order for the offense to win games at the end. Denver had one of the best, if not the best defense, in the NFL. The D coordinator, Dennis Allen. Allen became a HUGE prospect to be a head coach soon, the way Denver's D played, he was a big name. After all, unless you have one of the big 4 QB's (Brady, P. Manning, Brees, Rogers) the only other way to win a Super Bowl is to have a great D. There was one problem with all the Dennis Allen love in 2011, Denver's head coach was John Fox, and John Fox is a defensive specialist. So when hired, I think they hired him before others could, but in reality he looked good because his head coach was John Fox.

With all that said, it's time to let him go. It's been long enough, and only 8 wins in 2 seasons, not a good thing.

As for Reggie, I would still give him time to correct his mistakes. I think working on the D and getting linemen this offseason is EXACTLY what the Raiders needed. What he needs to do is draft skilled players. So hopefully he does that this draft, or else he will be collecting unemployment soon.

Ok Im a casual football fan. Its not my first sport but I always loved the Raiders.

As a child I loved Bo Jackson, later I like Tom Brown, Rich Ganon.

I havent followed in the last 10 years they have been so bad and I do live very far from the action( Montreal) .

So my question is

WT is wrong with this team!!! How do you not make the playoffs in 10 years!!!

So my question is

WT is wrong with this team!!! How do you not make the playoffs in 10 years!!!

In 2002, after the Raiders lost the infamous "Tuck Rule" game, Al traded John Gruden because he wanted to have the team play his style of offense, which was big running backs and deep balls. Sort of Norv Turner like, but Norv already failed as the head coach of the Raiders. But that's the offense Al loved. Instead he had Gruden who was a Westcoast offense type guy, and Gruden was winning but not Al's way. So Al decided he wasn't going to extend Gruden after the 2002 season, because he thought he can get his own coach. This period is what I call the beginning of the "Al Davis Senile Era." Once the players of the 2002 team started to age after the Super Bowl, Romo retired, Gannon got hurt, Brown and Rice lost three steps each; there was no one to replace them. Al had bet the whole franchise with a "win now" mentality, so he had to start over.

The problem, Al was not the man he once was. so he though Kerry Collins could replace Rich Gannon, in a move that I yelled at my screen in 2005, he drafted Fabian Washington over Aaron Rodgers, even though Rodgers was EXACTLY the type of QB Al Davis loves with a big arm and some athleticism. But instead of drafting the best players, like he usually did, he started drafting "Combined Specialist" who looked great at workouts but never amounted to good football players. Then he made the biggest mistake in Raider's history, he drafted JaMarcus Russell. This wasted 3 years of the Raiders franchise as they really tried to push Russell as the franchise, but instead got nothing back in return.

Eventually Davis hired Hue Jackson as offensive coordinator, who promised to return the Raiders to a more physical style of play and the team went 8-8 two season in a row, the best records they had since they lost the Super Bowl. But once Al died, Mark Davis took over and basically blew up the whole thing. Unlike Al, Mark had no interest in running a team, just working on the business end, so he hired Reggie McKenzie, who fired Hue Jackson and tried to build the Raiders like the Green Bay Packers. And it's failing.

Thanks, well said!!

They also had Mark trestman in the as OC at some point. He did good work when he came up here with the Alouettes of the CFL winning the championship 2 years in a row and having 3 finals apperances in his 4 year tenure with the club.

Well, since 2002, when Senile Al Davis took over, here is the list of draft picks the Raiders had in the first round...

2002, Phillip Buchanon and Napoleon Harris, not bad,
2003, Nnamdi Asomugha and Tyler Brayton, GREAT FIND IN ASOMUGHA!
2004, Robert Gallery, okay, now we are seeing a fall
2005, Fabian Washington, made worst because it was over Aaron Rodgers
2006, Michael Huff, WTF?
2007, JaMarcus Russell, no comment
2008, Darren McFadden, if only he can stay healthy, then Al traded his 2nd and 3rd round picks
2009, Darrius Heyward-Bey, WWWHHHYYYY???
2010, Rolando McClain, at least his first play in the NFL looked good, and that's about it.
2011, traded for Richard Seymour, who was 33 YEARS OLD? WTF? That was the year Hue Jackson was trying to get Al Davis to draft Colin Kaepernick
2012, traded for Carson Palmer in the traded that cost Hue Jackson his job and the first trade of the post Al Davis era.

So this was the Raiders under Senile Al Davis. A far cry for the years he drafted Charles Woodson, Joey Porter in the 2nd round, Barret Robbins in the 2nd round,  Greg Biekert in the 7th round, Tim Brown, and going back even further, Greg Townsend in the 4th, Marcus Allen, Howie Long in the 2nd from a small school when no one drafted from small schools, Dave Casper in the 2nd round, Art Shell in the 3rd, Cliff Branch in the 4th, Lester Hayes in the 5th.

At one time, Al was a great drafter, he found hidden talent and had the coaches to mold them into Raiders. Eventually he just drafted 40 yard dash times and had so much turn over in coaches that no players really developed under the Raider system.

Didn't he trade a 1st rounder for Seymour as well? The team sucked that year and he was acting like they were title contenders or something. What a shit show that organization has become. I've always liked McFadden though, it's too bad he just flat out can't stay healthy.

Yep, I put that under 2011, because it was the 2011 first round pick. The funny thing was in that draft Hue Jackson wanted to draft Colin Kaepernick, which could have been done in the 2nd round but the Niners traded up before the Raiders to get him. But Hue did have vision on what he wanted Oakland to be, and I think had they had a first round pick, they could have traded down and then got more picks and still got Kaepernick at the end of the first. But the Seymour traded really limited their movement. Man, just thinking of Jackson coaching Kaep makes me cry. It would have been glorious.

Here we go again, here is the Espn article

So is there a good QB coming in next year draft that the Raiders can draft and maybe perhaps build back their franchise around???

They have a really good rookie QB this year in Derek Carr. Carr is actually looking really good considering all the mess around him. What the Raiders need to do is focus on drafting skill players, stock piling weapons around Carr. They are in BAD need of receivers, and whoever is the best receiver coming out should be the Raiders number 1 pick. I am almost certain the Raiders will get the first pick in the draft, and it will be either a receiver or a left tackle. Also, the Raiders will have $47million in cap space this off season, which I'd invest heavily in the line, I know the line is holding up pretty good this year, but there are still some soft spots so that needs to be addressed. But the QB spot is good.
