Snoop Dogg said that his new album that he has been working on with dr. dre will be done in november and will be released in 30th anniversary of Doggystyle. Album is called Missionary. It's going to be a Death Row/Aftermath release according to Snoop. There's going to be an exclusive video interview that they both are trying to figure out which will officialy announce the album.

Check the time 34:35...
Actually im confused if it will be released this november or next year. At least we got a title and know that its done already.
-
I'm also confused, first it was for the anniversary of The Chronic, now doggystyle. Doggystyle was released a year later, but still think it will come out this year, with bigger promotion, it comes via Death Row/Aftermath so also Interscope
-
I don’t believe it.
-
Last “Dre produced” album was Relapse. Before that, 2001. If true, cool
-

there was contract ep and compton compilation.
-
if true then this needs to come out on CD
I cant deal with NFTs
-
I am convinced that it will not appear on NFT, as it will also come out via Aftermath and Interscope also has something to do with it. Pictures of Jimmy Iovine together with Snoop and Dre, I think a lot has been negotiated. It will be a big release
-
Not this year. We have to wait till 2023 for 30 anniversary of Doggystyle.

every aftermath are not on interscope, anderson paak albums and silk sonic album are on aftermath but not interscope.
-
I remember there was some talk that Dre was tied to interscope for life. Guess that wasn't true. Snoop is supposed to have a gangsta grillz mixtape dropping too.
-
So release next year. Novemver 2023.

So we getting a proper sequel for Doggystyle (next year), that title real wack though.
-
I agree, the sequel to Doggystyle should be called "Anal" or "Facial," not "Missionary."
-
I hope this actually happens.

Good. I steal this.

Doggystyle 2 or Breakups to Makeup better…
Honestly, the title doesn’t matter. We gonna get a snoop/dre album in 2022 (2023 likely)? I don’t care what they call it. I DO hope it has some real g-funk type shit of its a sequel though. I’m not sure dre has a new type of sound in him, so just redo the OG death row sound for this one.

I like Breakups to Makeup but not Doggystyle 2...sequel titles never seem to work out lol
but yeah whatever they call it If its half as dope as Doggystyle I"ll be happy

i don’t mind the title .. actually ties in well

It only works if it's a prequel.
"Missionary: Before Doggystyle"

If a Snoop and Dre album can’t get this forum poppin again, I’m afraid nothing will be able to.
Anyone remember how fun this forum was around the Last Meal album coming out?!
-
Wishy washy Dre. Wish this album would be released this November. By this time next year, Dre will be on some other different sound or idea and scrap the whole thing. How many times has Dre been behind an album and then all of sudden grow tired of it and never release it? Bishop Lamont, Hittman, Rakim, his own album 'Detox', the list goes on and on.
Best chance is when people put pressure on him to release something quickly before he has time to change his mind. Both Compton and The Contract came relatively out of nowhere. With over a year lead in time, no way he is still into this Snoop Dogg album by next year.

i get a different feeling this go round
snoop has too much say to just allow dre to scrap it on his terms
dre had total control over all those scrapped albums u speak of
but this is snoop and set to be a death row/aftermath collabo, so snoop will have his share of control imo

this project should definitely make some noise round these parts tenfold

There's nobody who can tell Dre shit. Jimmy wasn't able to make him drop "Detox".

detox was a dre album
this is a snoop album
-
Album is already done it seems and it's coming out in November this shit is on worldwide news today. Hope Dre brought the funk and it's not Snoop rapping over dark piano beats.
-
i hope of a propper release.
nowdays the nft hoax semms to die finally, we can go back to the cds i hope.
-

It wouldn't be the first time Dre was supposed to have beats on Snoop's album and none ended up on the actual album. It seems Snoop and Harry-O are going through something right now too, so who knows what's going to happen to Death Row?

Yeah, it was a bit for sure. BUT this should be what really brings back some OGs and maybe some new people to the forum if they do this right.
-
So this album is a year out? Good God. Here we were hoping for an album this November for the 30th anniversary of the Chronic. Now it's next year for the 30th anniversary of Doggystyle? What the fuck is wrong with Dre? Why is it so difficult for him to release music? He's constantly recording. He constantly has people at his studio. He has probably hundreds or thousands of songs that have never been released.
I'm going to agree with a few other people in here and say that this album next year either will either never come out or will not feature any Dre production.
-
i hope of a propper release.
nowdays the nft hoax semms to die finally, we can go back to the cds i hope.
NFTs seem to be slowing down every where except in Snoop's mind, unfortunately. CDs are good to be hard to come by though. Best bet is to buy FLAC copies from places like 7Digital.

FLAC copies are great but there is nothing like opening that CD case for the first time and popping it in while reading the liner notes
-
Snoop's confusing with the timeline. "album will be done in Nov" - for 30th anniversary of Chronic/Death Row's first release? or for release a year later celebrating 30th of Doggystyle.
Or option C, never comes out. Probably C who we kidding
-
IMO, the most likely outcome is that Missionary turns out like The Wash. People forget that was supposed to be the Snoop & Dre reunion album, but it only ended up having two Dre & Snoop traccs. Missionary will probably be similar. But I hope I'm wrong. I do think it is a real album, at least.
-
You guys aren’t very observant are you? Snoop has been posting pics eating breakfast at Dre’s lol for months now. Posting pics of them in the studio. They’ve been goin in. This shit is the real deal
-

That means fuck all. Off the top of my head Xzibit, Kanye, and Puffy were all sigjted at Dre's studio in the last two years, among God knows how many others. Dre just seems to record music all the time with good intentions, but never releases any of it.

cds ain’t comin back man.. as a cd collector, it truly saddens me, but we are the last of a dying breed.
vinyl has outsold cds the past 3 years, so if anything physical is coming back, it’s vinyl
i personally don’t understand it, because physical media kills digital media imo, and the most convenient physical media are cds

back in the day when cd arrived everybody said vinyl is DONE for good, and forever.
Now, as u wrote. more vinyl selling than cd.
I dont think any of them gonna disappear.
There will be collector forever.
maybe not that much, but they, we will be here forever!!!!

Exactly. I'm still buyin' CD's, but I'm in the minority.

Nobody’s saying they haven’t been recording songs. Dre probably has hundreds and hundreds of Dre/Snoop songs in the vault from the last 30 years. They’ve recorded shit plenty of times over the years and nothing’s been released. The question is if Dre will actually release any of it, i doubt it.

the thing about vinyls is that it still has had use for DJs + a totally different sound experience
i hope you’re right

There are two discussions happening at the same time in regards to cds. There is the discussion of cds being made by modern artist and the public purchasing them to listen to, then there is the community of people buying new and old cds from the standpoint of a collector. What new artist miss is the latter. I will buy a cd not to listen to but to add to the collection. If a new or modern artist tries to just sell me a cd, it's a no go. However, if it is let's say numbered (one of x amount), autographed or limited edition etc. Then I would be more willing to buy it. This goes for an artist I don't even like and would never listen to. Yes, I will buy it as memorabilia. The people over at Gresilda understand this. There was a recent discussion on Math Hoffa's platform where one of the guys said he doesn't mess with them because of music but rather because of merch. I'm not sure about tapes and/or CD's being apart of that but I know they sell records. He could have just been speaking about clothing but I think you get the point anyway.
-
the thing i aint understand is the cd-r.
when a factory made cd is cheap as phuck why anybody sellin factory made cd-r?!

as cheap as it is to press a factory cd, cd-r is much cheaper .. and also gives artist the option of making copies on demand

Snoop has sounded nice on a few tracks within the last year (ETA, the joint off that Russ dudes album) so with Dre’s coaching, I have no doubt his vocals will be nice. On the other hand, I haven’t heard anything all that interesting production wise from Dre in a long ass time. I don’t wanna hear Snoop over darker sounding Piano driven beats (it worked on Imagine but still) not do I wanna hear snoop over the type of production Dre has been doing from the Compton era onward.
-
Infinite, will you check this album or will you skip it?

We can hear a song playing in the back in this video.
It has been posted in his Insta at the same period of other posts with him and Dre in the studio.
We don't hear much but I'm pretty sure it's from the album. The way of Snoop is sounding and the guitar on the beat made me think that.
-
Agreed with this
I like Last Meal better than Top Dogg but that list is about right 8)
-
Interesting, a whole year away yet so a lot can happen, but I would expect that with that level of time and with Dr. Dre at the helm, a lot of effort will be put into making this a classic album for Snoop, and one as close to Doggystyle at that. Hopefully its as brief in running time as that album, unlike most other Snoop albums, and has the right guest appearances.
Maybe it will be Snoop's last solo album, book-ending his rap career?

True!

lmao @ 2023. anyone ever hear the phrase 'strike while the iron is hot'. if this was coming out it would come out not be shelved for an entire year.
-
Think he said it’s done in Nov and it is for the 30th anniversary of doggystyle. So he’s saying it’s done but they are going to sit on it for a year!?!? Or maybe snoop is high af and misspoke and it’s coming this Nov for 30th anniversary of death row (release of chronic)?
-
I like Last Meal better than Top Dogg but that list is about right 8)
that wasn’t in order, but yea
1.doggystyle

Bluecarpet was full of dope dres beats, and overall was a dope album. Snoops best after doggy.
There were only three Dre beats on the album, but he did work on some of the other songs too, like "That's That Shit". It is definitely one of Snoop's best.

paid da cost is a dope album, don’t get me wrong
but i was around when both albums dropped and the overwhelming majority said bct is snoops best work since last meal
on the contrary, when paid da cost dropped, most snoop fans were disappointed because it didn’t live up to last meal or top dogg
u can go search the original discussion threads if u don’t believe me

I agree with you, it's clearly my favorite Snoop album after Doggystyle. I really don't understand the hate.
Album was fresh, production was top noch.
Snoop behind the mic was back at his top, he killed almost all his verses with a lot of different flows.
His energy and focus behind the mic were incredible, you can tell he has stopped smoking during this period.
Honestly, I really think it's a classic album, I bumped it a lot during summer 2003.
My top3 is :
Doggystyle of course
Paid the cost
Tha last meal
-
Round Here was a banger! really big bass.

I was probably one of those that hated and was very critical when this album first came out. But 20 years later this album kinda aged well. E-White was a great song writer for Snoop. Boss Playa, The One and Only, I Miss That Bitch, Pimp Slappd are some of his best work.

no doubt
it’s a dope album in retrospect
but not quite last meal or top dogg.. or even bct
dre’s production puts those 3 above paid da cost
-
they might not be the most loved but i really enjoyed Ego Trippin & Bush. both very cohesive in terms of production & sound. a new Snoop/Dre LP could have the potential to top these & BCT, if it ever came out.

my favorite snoop sleeper is 7 days of funk, which id put right behind bct

i just went back to Ego Trippin' and the back end is really bad lol, literally 2/3 of the tracks and there's too many. the first handful are absolute fire though. Bush doesn't have skippers like that, short & sweet.

facts

one of the reasons Paid Tha Cost was hated when it came out on is that the Dre beats that were there for the 2 previous albums were missing...also there was a lot of non west coast production on there
Boss Playa is still my joint though 8)
-
There were a handful of dope tracks on paid tha cost. Snoops biggest problem has always been trimming the fat from his albums. Dude could have 3-4 classics if he kept his albums to 12,13 songs instead of 21 joints.
After Doggystyle flip a coin between Top Dogg and last meal. Depends on the day
Then it’s BCT, paid tha cost, BODR
Then the rest.
I can’t wait to hear what Snoop and Dre have cooked up in 2022. It’s been way too long. Looking forward to hearing it

yup .. snoop woulda had the goat catalogue wit a stronger executive producer on all his albums
but i noticed you omitted doggfather.. and even put bodr above it. was that on purpose?
-
In Paid da cost nobody mentions Pimp'd Slap. It was a dope album like Blue Carpet. For me its a tie. People hate on Paid da cost cause No dre, and Pharrell on the project and the mainstream Beautiful track. Everybody on here happy for Blue Carpet cause G.Clinton, Dre, Nate... but for me is a like i said.
1. Doggystyle
2. Doggfather
3. Last Meal / Top Dogg
4. Paid Da Cost / Blue Carpet
5. R&G
6. Ego Trippin
7. BODR
8. I wanna thank
Don t list others cause they are wack.
Many Welcome 2 Da Chuuch mixtapes can be in this list and higher than Paid Da cost or Blue Carpet.
Vol.1 / 3 / 6 are better then teses 2 studio albums
Just my point.

7 days of funk is good. Coolaid and neva left yes there are wack for me. You still bumping those? Off this two i cant even make an album of 10songs that i can put above i wanna thank me

if you take the 10 best songs off coolaid and neva left, u can actually make a classic
ten toes down

coolaid was a dope album to me.. narrowed down to about 12 songs and it’s actually great
if you take the 10 best songs off coolaid and neva left, u can actually make a classic
ten toes down

Yep
-
I don't think this album is going to come out.
I’m thinking Dr Dre’s health scare might have changed the way he’s approaching things now but we shall see, November is around the corner
-
But November 2023
-
But November 2023
He said two things in that Stephen A. “It’s done in November” and “it’s for the 30th anniversary of doggystyle.”
Conflicting.
Maybe he meant done in Nov and it’s for 30th of chronic (which wound be 22 not 23)
-
7 days of funk is good. Coolaid and neva left yes there are wack for me. You still bumping those? Off this two i cant even make an album of 10songs that i can put above i wanna thank me
"Neva Left" is a Top 10 album from Snoop to me, but to each his own. I don't skip anything on it. The remix of "Vapors" shouldn't been on it though.
-
didn't we already have this discussion with the last snoop album and the one before and before that
let's see if the album will be out this year or next, then we'll soon have a new aka detox thread
-
Since it's more of a snoop album and some people already said that it's finished, I believed that this was on the way.
But snoop also announced a mixtape for late October and the new mount westmore album drops december. November is open, but that month is neither the anniversary for The Chronic or Doggystyle.
So am I supposed to believe that they'll wait a year to release this? They waited a year to release the first Mount westmore album, and then Dre pulled his guest-verse from it.

he’s probably wrapping up recording .. now comes the mixing process, which is the most grueling.

Any idea why Dre wanted his verse off the Mount Westmore album?

according to rockthebells.com, eminem will be feautured on the project.

Ego Trippin I have a playlist I bump that I made for it, it’s super off musically like he was every where, the iTunes bonus track Walk Away his delivery is dope as fuck. Other left overs like Ain’t nobody and Shoot Em Up are tracks I bump heavy on base dope on lyrics.
Really all over the place My Medicine would have more dope with out snoops background lyrics over the hook or adlibs
-
all I know is Snoop needs Dre or Quik's touch to elevate his music to the next level. he's lucky to have worked with those guys so extensively & Pharrell/Neptunes. and he should do a whole album with Quik already, seems to keep him around for mixing duties anyway.

a snoop album produced exclusively by quik would be an instant classic
-
I think Quik mixed All of Ego Tripping and or CoProduced A lot of it too… I know he coprosuced the Cinderella on Top Dogg in the source magazine he is credited and I think The Jelly Roll joint he had his hands in. He did a lot for Snoop since the Ride On/Caught Up joint that is extremely slept on and had major buzz in cali in 98 before the no limit album dropped
Quik can lace the fuck out of snoop and I wish they would give us a 10 pack of joints before they stop or bow out they can make the red and blue equal green

Dre won’t let anything come out With out hype and some type of promo, Compton had the move hype and even got a plane to fly around So Cal LA area spelling out COMPTON (which was dope to see). He won’t let Snoop just drop some of their work mixtape style it just won’t happen.
But I’m thinking next year early if it happens …

says is it right there "Dynamic. Duo. Music comin summer 23" - maybe just a single. or a 5 second snippet of a single. or a screenshot of a whiteboard with the name of the first single written on it. or nothing lol - marsha and dre/snoop, not complaining if it happens!
-
Interesting. Scitt any update about Death Row return on streaming platforms?
snoop team just getting credits right atm

Snoop said they were going to complete it in November, not release it.
So they probably mixed it during the last months.

Snoop put up the catalog up on TikTok.

Ugh. I really have my doubts about this project based on how Snoop and Dre work these days. Dre spends five years recording an album and then he ultimately releases nothing. Snoop spends five weeks recording an album and then put it out as a NFT scam bullshit.
-
Not long left until this is allegedly coming out... Any more news?
You'd have thought they'd have started promoting it soon...
-
Snoop and Dre are just finishing the album, it took a little longer because of the dispute, there are still several waiting for it to come out, Xzibit his album is finished as far as you know, Daz said Dogg Food 2 is coming after Snoop's album, one hopes that the promotion will start soon, if it goes according to concept then it has to come out this year for the 30th anniversary of Doggystyle, at the latest it will be a December release
-
Due to the strike, a lot has changed, but the album will come, it has a lot to do with stategie and business this time, there will be a big release under Aftermath/Deat Row, as it looks a lot will be put on the album, it is also indirectly Dre's comback, those involved already know when the right time for release is, it depends a lot on the future of Snoop' Death Row Records
-
No, album is not coming.
-
No, album is not coming.
And which new album of Snoop should come out? If he only works on it with Dre

No album. There is no promo yet so I assume no album coming this year.

I haven't seen any news. Almost forgot about this album. Oh, well.
-
No album. There is no promo yet so I assume no album coming this year.
For once, i agree with you astra
-
There’s been very little mention of it since Snoop revealed it, then the DOC’s interview, then silence.
I remember Snoop said music was coming in the summer, presumably a single, but it does look like this isn’t happening, at least in 2023 anyway.
….unless he’s copying Eminem’s surprise album drops
-
possibilty of release was higher the last november.
i am pretty sure album is shelved and will not be released ever.
-
Anyone that seriously thought/thinks this will drop must not have known Dre was involved.
-
shame on those of us who believed it was coming out

still comin out
just probably delayed
rbx in november wil be the replacement

Fredwreck and Snoop was at the Dre's studio last week (Instagram)... It sill in the process!

not surprised

To everyone who said I was wrong for saying this album was never coming out due to Dre's involvement, how does the truth feel? Dre cannot be trusted to release music anymore. He just can't. He doesn't have the motivation to do so, because (a) he's ridiculously rich and (b) he doesn't have a record label exec forcing him to stick to timelines.

Is there any official statement of the album not coming out or being delayed?
Also any official statement about the Doggystyle release with Gz Up Hoez Down? I have the original release with the track, but it's good that they are re-releasing it if it's true

They are still in the studio and working on the album. No rumors without an official statement that it was canceled.

Jesus. I just did some Googling on this. Did they really record it back in 2021? And Dre has been holding it hostage for two years? What the fuck, man? Let the woman get on with her career. Either release it on Aftermath or just give the woman her fucking masters. Get fucked, Dr. Dre.

Not to throw shade at RBX, but this is the exact same stuff that was said about DETOX the past 15 years. Not saying it won't come out, but Dre's done this so many times, news like this doesn't even phase me anymore, i'm not getting excited about this at all until the day it actually comes out. Pictures on IG of rappers in the studio with Dre and Snoop, interviews from rappers, producers, etc. mean nothing to me because this exact same stuff happened with Detox and it never came out. DOC said Detox was coming out, never did. Now DOC says Missionary is coming out. Forgive me if I don't believe him.

It would be epic if Snoop and Doc released an album with no promotion, aka no 1996 The Source ads, promo spots, commercials, etc. The work would speak for itself.
These guys are already legends… if the Weeknd and Drake can drop album on one weeks notice, successfully, Im sure Snoop and Dre can. :o
-
If it was just a Dre album, I would have doubts.
Given that Snoop is involved, I think it's definitely coming out.
-
To be fair, Eminem has dropped his last couple with no promo beforehand... But having said that, I still don't believe this will come out as it was initially promoted as a Doggystyle 2, fully produced by Dre album
-
If it was just a Dre album, I would have doubts.
Given that Snoop is involved, I think it's definitely coming out.
I do think eventually Snoop will release Missionary in some form. If Dre drags his feet and can't get it done, Snoop will fill out the album with songs from other producers, maybe have one or two tracks produced by Dre and call it a day and release it.

I notice that other thread with the supposed Dre beat has been deleted from here. That's got to count for something, right?

I see the problem with this, the guys have made so many great tracks together
The Chronic
Doggystyle
No Limit Top Dogg
2001
The Wash (Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg Feat. Traci Nelson)
Imagine (Feat. Dr. Dre & D'Angelo)
Boss' Life (Feat. Akon)
Compton - Wasn't my cup of tea at all, of course they tried a new sound and the productions are really great, but if I'm honest I only like 3 tracks It's All On Me (Feat. Justus & BJ The Chicago Kid), terrible as he is raps, Animals (Feat. Anderson .Paak) & Talking To My Diary
All I can say is why did he throw out his old hitmakers or they weren't in the mood anymore Mel-Man aka 2001, Mark Batson & Mike Elizondo...Neff-U on Heat yeah he did the Piano part, but like Storch on Still
Che Vicious
Then in 2005 it started for me, when I thought exactly the sound that Dr. you want to hear, the time where dawaun was always at the start
Talk About Me (50 Cent) Get Rich Or Die Tryin' Soundtrack
Outta Control (Remix) (Feat. Mobb Deep)
2006
Busta Rhymes - The Big Bang / Mark Batson was still there but mike? & Dawaun Parker
Kingdom Come - Lost One (Feat. Chrisette Michele)
Imagine (Feat. Dr. Dre & D'Angelo) = the perfect example of what you want to hear from Dre or not
So what do you expect after the Eta track, I mean it's good, but it starts with mixing and so on and on
and to be honest, I don't believe in God, but that Dr. Dre has monsters sleeping on his hard drive, no question about it! But apart from that, all this talk is getting on my nerves, I mean after all these years there hasn't even been a single that was really cool? He may have great producers in his camp, but what comes out of that?

I don't think anyone on this forum in particular would disagree with you. But why then do they, particularly Dre, continue to hype us all up only to scrap everything? Stop announcing shit if you're not going to release it. Every Dre project from now until he leaves the face of this earth should be handled like Compton - don't say shit until the day before it's dropping.

anyone happen to see this?
Yeah, I watched it.
Started with DJ shed interviewing Battlecat about the influence of Doggystyle and that era, then Snoop took the stage with Kurupt, Soopafly & J black?
Performed a couple of hits from Doggystyle + some other hits like Wrong Idea, Drop it like it’s hot, Lodi Dodi, Murder Was The Case, Next Episode, Nutting but a G Thang.
Set up was good and I enjoyed it.
Oh he performed Gz Up, Hoes Down over Kurupt’s We can Freak it beat with Kurupt finishing it off with his own original lyrics to the song

Doggystyle was released this day thirty years ago November 23, 1993.
Would be a nice touch if Missionary dropped today.

I was actually holding out hope for a surprise drop, given up on this now

Nice to have full album on streaming at last.

So it's slowly getting really ridiculous about Dr. dre. I'll just say, how many studio session pictures did we see, how many producers, rappers, etc. were invited and always said everything I heard, sounds incredible! and what comes of it? I don't really care if Dre just makes music for his hard drive and pays everyone, but how frustrating that must be as a producer when you work for him
and when you announce an album 30 years etc then even more ridiculous
Just the announced gig, which was then canceled, there was something about it, I don't know exactly what it was! But how can you start a concert or a listening session without the album being finished? Everyone thought it was finished and then you read in an interview the doc says he visits snoop to finish the album. well, when is the interview from?

Yeah but why dont add Next Episode too??? Because of Dre again i assume.

Song was never released. Dre is guilty of a lot of stuff, but I can't blame him because he isn't adding unreleased songs to streaming platforms.

To be honest the last couple of snoop Dre collabs haven’t been all that stellar. Been alright but nothing like when it was the 00s. The Wash and Kush were the last 2 I thought were good collabs. The 2 cuts on Compton and then the gta soundtrack song - prettty average really. I said it before and I’ll say it again Dre’s ghost producers that lay the foundation done shipped out and he ain’t found anybody good enough yet to make the hits. I’d rather an album with Quik, battlecat Soopaly Warren g and Quaze/Fredwreck with 1 or 2 from Dre and his production team.

how many hits do Quik, Warren. Soopafly and the rest done lately?
I never doubt Dre, every time he has been counted out he came back stronger

As far as I know Dre hasn't produced a chart topping song since I need a Doctor in 2011 and that beat was done by Alex da Kid. But I think we are getting to the source of the problem here. Dre hasn't produced a hit single in a long ass time. I think whatever project he wants to come out with next needs a hit single to light the flame under it.
-

:ray:
Haha, i didnt mean ghost producers. I meant production collaborators.
-
Think main thing with Dre is that he has never found that single to set it off with last 25 years. How We Do maybe closest but gave that to 50/Game.
Kush was close - best sounding, most Dre-like beat any of his collaborators put together for him - but song itself was average.
Think they got a hit for Missionary that they can lead with? If not, it aint happening

the best chance he had was if he used that whole “i gave up smoke” thing to make a song based around the topic .. but smoke can mean anything ala beef, etc. it was a huge story, if he woulda dropped a catchy dre produced song in relation to that a few days later then it woulda been everywhere … woulda been marketing brilliance at its finest .. unfortunately he wasted that headline on some smokeless firepit or whatever it was lolllll

Yea this is a great point… that whole snoop bit about quitting smoke, then a video of him sitting beside a firepit?
???
Still have no idea of the purpose or point of that ad? Is this a smokeless firepit you get at your local store for bbq?

I call bullshit.. no way Dre would leak something like that.. he's always been totally against internet downloading and all that since the Napster days, and even worse the leak came out with someone else spitting his vocals.
That song was a hit that never really hit

I remember the rumour being Bishop Lamont being kicked out the camp for leaking Grow up to try and get a buzz going so agree Dre would unlikely leak himself
-
Dre insecure as hell in those detox days - no way in hell he didn’t leak under pressure, that’s for sure. Mentioned being listening to Kraftwerk, Iovine mentioned it in public THEN it leaks -
Those were dark days - I Need A Doctor ffs - awful awful awful

Isn’t snoop’s wife sick?
If so, I can see why releasing an album is not a priority.

If you follow Snoop's Instagram and Snapchat, he's in the studio or out running around doing stupid shit. It's not like he's by her bedside and devoting all his free time to being with her. I dunno if she's sick or not, but that ain't stopping Snoop from doing whatever he's doing.

Listen to that new Marsha Ambrosius Track his production is on top

It’s ok track but nothing groundbreaking. If it wasn’t for Dre nobody would care.

Its not groundbreaking in general, but it is a great track and for people that have followed Dres career… this is definitely on the up. The doc is producing some Quincy Jones type shit - thats the next episode. Its best to hear the whole album to see whats going on. If the production is consistent, with some good storytelling… it sounds like a classic to come.
-

-
The new Marsha track has Interesting enough production- sounds nice on headphones, especially the second half (but lazy to sample the same song that The World is Yours did)
But Dre gonna have to create some real HEAT before we ever see Missionary and all we’ve got from him for years is mainly average (aside from four or five tracks on Compton that were good but not classic)

Let's hope Dre agrees. Snoop was in his early 20s when they recorded Doggy style, so of course Dre being a platinum selling musician would be in control of that project. Snoop in his 50s now and Dre should trust him enough to tell Dre when it's done and can be released.

I am surprised they didn't ask him more about the album

I guess they didn’t want to make it too much about the music, it’s a business podcast, so they focus more on that side of things

They missed the November 30th Doggystyle anniversary they were shooting for. Now it needs to be out by January to roll out their Gin and Juice line for 2024. Think they'll make that deadline?
Remember when everyone said Dre would drop DETOX right before the Superbowl halftime show and that came and went?

Right, but that's all this album is too. Speculation that an album is coming. Still have yet to hear a concrete release date. All we keep hearing is either 'it's being worked on' or 'it's nearly completed'....which was the same things we heard about Detox the last 20 years.

No, there is a big difference.
Dre never said he’s releasing Detox before Super Bowl, that was speculations by people.
With this one , The artist (Snoop) confirmed he’s working on the album and it’s close to the finish line, The Producer (Dre) confirmed he’s working with Snoop on the album publicly and in private with Busta.
-
The Contract EP dropped right before the Super Bowl which was a surprise in many ways . Dre is going to do something, however it would be interesting to see if the project does well where the team goes from there.
I mean they can tour at any time if Snoop can carry the album to get the last push of his music career to a grand ending.
Let’s see

Snoop might be keep releasing albums but he is not relevant for this decade in music. He is just an icon and a legend. Dr. dre as well.
None of us should expect from them to rock the world and charts again as solo artists.

right...and they shouldn't be releasing music for the charts in this stage of their careers either
besides charts these days are mostly autotune robotic songs

The intention is for Dre to do the whole album. But i agree, Snoop will put it out in some form. If Dre can’t finish it up, Snoop will put the few songs Dre completed on it and then use other producers for the rest.

I mean Snoop even admits so himself in this interview man. Dre always asks him for a couple more days, everytime it "just give me 2 more days". You can take this as an official album cancellation announcement, it's always gonna be 2 more days now, like always
-
i think the single is coming..
If it does well then the album will drop

Just curious, how much time needs to pass before you to realise it's not coming? Because for some people, who still believe Detox is coming, even 20 years wasn't enough
in the last 10-15 years, which projects did dre announce that didn’t drop?
Jon Connor album
Detox
The Planets
Mary J album
Kanye album
LL album (sort of)
Missionary
Reformation
Marsha's album is still in the question
Pretty much everything, except for Compton and Anderson Paak first album
-
After 3 years later and they'll be still working on it but dre will think songs they have made are out dated already and they are working on another projects.
missionary and casablanco will not be released. let's discuss for some other projects.

none of those albums were officially announced outside of detox and reformation, which bishop lamont fucked off by leaking early .. and i’m pretty sure those were both over 15 years ago
What do you mean they weren't announced? Dre himself said JIK2 was "coming soon" 5 years ago and announced that he was doing an album with Mary J. Blige after Super Bowl 2 years ago.
Yeah, Detox and Reformation were announced over 15 years ago, but they both were cancelled in 2010-11, if I'm not mistaken.
Oh, and Vehicle City was also announced by Dre to be coming out in 2018, so...
-
Yes, he said that he will produce an album with her and that they talked about it but not that it will happen like that. So next to Mary j Blidge had studio sessions only a few weeks ago with Dre, but not a word if it will be a whole album
-
Snoop his album is almost finished, maybe one or two more tracks. All his concentration is on this album because it's his next one and a big push for the comeback of Death Row. Yes, he had perhaps talked about it too early on such an album is more than just knocking out tracks. Clarify licenses, still plan the whole promotion, turn off videos. Dre's 2001 album was also in production for 2-3 years
-
Be glad that it takes longer so that it will be of high quality. Earlier, you also had to wait a long time for an album
-

Jesus Is King 2 was finished and eventually leaked.. Not sure why it wasn’t released but that was Kanye’s album to put out, not an Aftermath album
Mary J album is completely different as it was just talked about and not something they were actively working on like we see now with Missionary
Jon Connor dropped a joint on Aftermath in 2018 that flopped then a few months later asked to be released from his contract .. this is basically the only shelved Aftermath project in the last 15 years
-
God some of yall are hopeless lol
In 2030 yall still gonna be like "there was no official cancelation, just 2 more days guys"
-
Jesus Is King 2 was finished and eventually leaked.. Not sure why it wasn’t released but that was Kanye’s album to put out, not an Aftermath album
It was being promoted as Kanye & Dre album though even on it's cover, so I guess it was supposed to be GOOD Music/Aftermath release
Mary J situation is kinda similar to Missionary tbh. They might not have worked on it as actively but it still counts because they announced it and Dre was excited af to work on it. Matter fact, Dre actually mentioned her album in an interview, which is something he still didn't do for Snoop. The only time Dre sort of acknowledge Missionary, is in that short Busta Rhymes video, where he says he's been working on Snoop shit, without even mentioning it was a full album, not just few songs.

“I can let the rabbit out the hat. I’ve been working on a record with Dr. Dre for the past 8 months. We’re about ready to drop a single in a couple weeks, so that’s what I’ve been cooking up,” Snoop told GMA‘s Michael Strahan while promoting his new Prime Video movie, The Underdoggs.”

That's why he didn't start Mary J Blidge's album. Focus is on Snoop's album then the release of Marsha Ambrosius. One by one
-
in the last 10-15 years, which projects did dre announce that didn’t drop?
Why are you defending Dre? He's a fucking clown at this point, who keeps fucking over everyone he works with. He's either so fucking ADHD that he can't focus on finishing anything or he's got such bad OCD that he can't ever sit back and objectively look at his own work and say, you know, that's good enough and instead has to take literal years to finish a handful of songs.
God some of yall are hopeless lol
In 2030 yall still gonna be like "there was no official cancelation, just 2 more days guys"
It's sick, isn't it? There's Dre fanboys in here that acting like battered housewives, making excuses for their abuser.
Just curious, how much time needs to pass before you to realise it's not coming? Because for some people, who still believe Detox is coming, even 20 years wasn't enough
Jon Connor album
Detox
The Planets
Mary J album
Kanye album
LL album (sort of)
Missionary
Reformation
Marsha's album is still in the question
Pretty much everything, except for Compton and Anderson Paak first album
Thank you. I'm sure there's more too.
-

We coming back here in a couple weeks to hear that new single that Snoop promised. If it isn't out by then....we gonna give it 2 more days.
-

i think there’s a difference between 1 year and 10 years my friend
for instance, we been working on rbx album for 2 years
if some cats online was talkin bout “oh my goodness!! why is it taking so long?!?? it’s never dropping!!!!!!” and losing their shit because they think great music is made over night, i personally would think they trippin
so i’m talkin to yall from a producer perspective, not a consumer perspective
take it for what it is
-
It was being promoted as Kanye & Dre album though even on it's cover, so I guess it was supposed to be GOOD Music/Aftermath release
Mary J situation is kinda similar to Missionary tbh. They might not have worked on it as actively but it still counts because they announced it and Dre was excited af to work on it. Matter fact, Dre actually mentioned her album in an interview, which is something he still didn't do for Snoop. The only time Dre sort of acknowledge Missionary, is in that short Busta Rhymes video, where he says he's been working on Snoop shit, without even mentioning it was a full album, not just few songs.
we’ll see homie

Just curious about the music biz these days… if you work on an album for 2 years, what is the return on investment (roi). In 2 years, how much time (hours) have you put into the RBX project and how much do you expect to make as a profit?
How much does Itunes pay? Or any another comparable platform? How much does it cost to break even?

there’s more than 1 answer to each of these questions
as for return on investment, it really depends on how much you invest .. the more money you spend on marketing and promo = the more money you get back
and how much you can get back is a crapshoot, but the more you push the product the better .. so that extends beyond investing money- you gota put in the time and energy to maximize profits
i cant tell you exactly how many hours were spent on making the album, but i can tell u that it was an unhealthy amount of sleepless nights from start to finish
that’s just me personally tho.. every artist is different

Hopefully for your sake you at least break even with the RBX project. Sounds like you might be losing money if this album is 2 years iin the making with no real promo or release date, especially for an artiist peaking 30 years ago.
Im still ready for a nostalgia album when or if it drops! 8)

New Interview about the Album
Again on the subject. We will get a release date and the first single in a short time. In the last weeks, Snoop has teased it too often, which is already part of the promotion to increase the hype. The albums that Dre never released, most of them were newcomers, when Snoop says it publicly, the whole world looks at it. The time has already passed to back down
-
snoop told them "you're the first to know" exclusive info lol

I'll support if it's good music and i'm feeling it. I'm not going to buy it just cause it's RBX. I hope he releases a great album. Hell, i hope all the OGs release great albums. But whether you're an OG or a BG to the rap game, if it's trash, i'm not buying it.

Did you release a hard copy single? I don’t do streaming. I’ll buy the album if I’m feeling it. Takes more than one decent single to move an album. No disrespect. I hope it’s great. But i want that classic west coast gfunk sound. If the album has that vibe, i’m in. You already made one mistake by not putting THE MAN Soopafly on it. You had the connection through Daz. A bitch-checking verse probably wouldn’t have cost very much. No Suga Free either…
-

Did Let’s Ride disappear from streaming or am I trippin?
-
It’s been probably 20 years since I’ve posted here but thought I’d throw some spice in the mix lol
So snoop said in that business forum interview that the album was coming soon and coinciding with the release of a gin and juice alcoholic beverage him and Dre are putting out soon.
I follow local liquor stores on Instagram cause I’m into craft beers and one of them posted a promo for the gin and juice beverage coming to their store in a few weeks around mid February.
Snoop mentioned the possibility of a single being released within the next few weeks

Helter Skelter was the scrapped reunion LP with Ice Cube on Death Row - think they only ended up recording 4 tracks or so (incuding Natural Born Killers).

too many singles on streaming prior to album drop .. we anticipated a 2023 release, but with all the delays, we’re trying to avoid getting too stale prior to the release
there will also be a bonus track available only on the physical
-
I remember when I pre-ordered RBX's Broken Silence album for download right here on Dubcnn back in 2007 or 8 - then never received it to this day! I sent emails to Nima back then asking what happened.
I then asked some forum members to send me a download rip link and some guy then did after private messaging me to send him my purchase receipt as proof which I did...hopefully that won't repeat this time around!

I think it'd be interesting, coming from a producer who is working on an album that's been delayed multiple times, what were the delays exactly? Sometimes people here give artists and producers a hard time when they miss their anticipated release dates. They think it's as simple as recording an album, converting to digital and releasing it. I know it's much more complicated than that. Sample clearances, mixing, etc. Just curious on what some of the delays were in this particular case. Just so we can get some insight on the inner workings of an album release and what all goes into it. Would be an interesting read.

one example;
the latest delay was due to mastering issues
the album wasn’t leveled correctly upon running the final tests .. we were supposed to send it in for pressing that day, but noticed the inaccuracies, hence another setback
in turn, we had to reach back out to big bass and have him correct the issue
then once he finally got the leveling right we went back again and during this test we noticed that somehow panning got lost in the intro.. so another setback- this time we had to go back and have him re-master the intro
and many artists would’ve just released it as is the first time, without going back and looking for these minor discrepancies
but when you genuinely care about your craft, you want to get it right, and the most minute details that get overlooked by the fans can become extremely time consuming for those crafting the project, creating multiple setbacks at every step of the way

I support it for real by even talking about and discussing it on fan forums such as this, which is considered marketing.
Im an old man… I used to collect CDd and tape cassettes in the 90s when they were relevant; all I do now is pay Apple a monthly fee to subscribe to infinite amounts of music.
I do still purchase merch, for nostalgia reasons. I collect hats. If RBX has merch for sale with a shopify credible website I will definitely look at it. 8)

All you gotta get is a single only from missionary project which is already shelved but they dont tell you.
-
Is there any update which producers dre is working with for missionary.
-
I don't doubt that the album is coming, or at the very least a single produced by Dr. Dre. I don't take Snoop as a liar about these things, or The D.O.C for that matter, and it seems there is momentum and things are coming together. The question is, will it be any good?
I think the days of Dr. Dre breaking a new artist are over, we all know the music industry has changed massively and a co-sign simply isn't enough to make it anymore. So Dre going back to his tried and trusted artists like Snoop Dogg is a safe bet at this point.

So I heard Missionary minus the intro. There's like two versions of this album. The retail was suppose to be the one with that Fruity sound Jimmy Iovine wanted for Detox. The other is Death Row Records sounding but more modern. Then you got third version which is Missionary E.P. Then final disc of Missionary I've heard too and its phenomenal. Personally, I'm a fan of the second version and final disc more than any of the others.

Snoop Dogg - Escape From D.R.R. (This song will walk you into what the album sounds like. The album is much better than the song.)

He's literally letting you hear it for free. Not making up facts. Play with simple sounds by slowing them down and speeding them up and pitching them and you have the album just based off that song. You can literally take like the first five minutes off that song and play Death Row unheards as well as most of Missionary. I do not make this up. Its part of the new software regime.

i think if they had the masters they would allow the masses in, but suge said that wasn’t part of the deal. so now they’re waiting on reggie wright to sign off and the remixes will come first due to that issue. in the mean time Missionary will be dropping on Instagram live for those who tune in and Bo Rocc is going to be the one presenting it.
Am i doin it right?

They have masters; I have half copies or fen-nemis (Half of the song) of what Snoop is leaking as far as the unheards plus Shimas (Super Presses) and then I have sampnis (Our versions are similar but mastering differences). But Snoop has back catalog. Snoop wants to really brand the label I think as the new Death Row Records as opposed to making the same mistake WIDEawake did and release no name artist who are no longer with the label. You're saying the right thing, but I'm just going only with what I know.

Now there is something I want to talk about - Dr. Dre - I think he's getting his second wind. Despite me telling you all the news about what Detox tracks you have and haven't heard. I think they're going to push Snoop a lot harder and maybe get a few new goodies from K.A.A.N. and A.P. - the Kendrick release last year did fairly well - so I think Dre's on point to release something. Most if not all what I tell you is about old vault material. Still great tracks, but there's more stuff coming out than what I have. So pay attention and catch me up on anything I might miss. I think we'll be hearing Dr. Dre soon. I'm hoping maybe by 4th Quarter this year.

The trunk shots (camera in trunk) is classic Quentin Tarantino… Im pretty sure that’s the reference. Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.
Maybe Tarantino is the video surprise director?

All this caring about fans is hilarious bro, entertainment is a business, they are all doing it to make money.
Exposure and money is the end game but at this stage of their career, it's probably more for the love of it but they are still investing time and money in this project and definitely want return on their investment, it's basic economics.
As long I like what they produce (Music, movies, products) and it's good quality, they can have my money.....It's their job.
"caring about fans" is a myth

My issue is they are both multi millionaires so they don’t need money so why not just cater for the fans that made them successful?

I’m guessing this might be the intro to music video for the single and they used it for the drink commercial….
-
Ok, it's obvious I'm excited, about this project, so apologies if I am spamming you guys with my opinion/thoughts about this.
That commercial might have hinted on the concept of the album, I am thinking since they are known for making Gangsta rap but now they are proper grown men and not in the streets/hood anymore compared to 35 years ago, the concept might be on a grown Gangsta tip, Goodfellas style.
Suited up Al Capone style, no more Khakis & Checkers.

If you haven't caught on, it's a joke. Some people on this website seem to think that Dre and Snoop will release the album/single any day now. Others of us say look at the fact that Missionary is now over a year past due and compare that to Dre's lack of output for the last 15 years.

Dr Dre sent out a scout to find some 'dope whistlers' from the hood/barrio but discovered a world champion instead -
Being a professional whistler in Hollywood has led to some truly odd jobs. She recorded in the studio with Dr. Dre. (His producer stumbled upon her randomly. He was looking more generally for “dope whistlers.”)
Dr Dre's new pro-champ whistler, her name is Molly Lewis, -

Eric Sermon of EPMD Talks About His Superproductive Recording Session with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg
The EPMD rapper and producer says they recorded five songs, both for his own project and for Dr. Dre x Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album.
Eric Sermon revised this moment during his recent interview :
When I was here with Dre, me and Dre made five records. And he made three in one night. Off of my production, though. And then, we did another one with Snoop, that’s supposed to be on the new Snoop record, and I also did one with him, that me and him rhymed on, which was CRAZY. It’s a blessing. I never talk, I hate to big up myself. I’ve always been an introvert, I’ve always been quiet. But a lot of dope shit has happened in the last couple of years.
Eric talked about three songs two years ago, when posting about that remarkable session with Dr. Dre:
I got to L.A a day before the #superbowl ..then 2 days after that was his bday…after that .. the #sagacontinues. We worked on my new project #DYNAMICDUOS … the next day he called @snoopdogg we made something epic for him .. then we made something for him after.. I think lol. Then he says erick .. that’s 3. What’s next ? GOD doesn’t make mistakes. Thanks for the opportunity. We were friends for over 30 and never worked together.. a lot of ppl has been waiting on this to happen. Well .. here it is

Snoop Dogg Gives Update On 'Masterful' New Album With Dr. Dre: 'It's A Grown Snoop Dogg
(https://www.billboard.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/dr-dre-snoop-ascap-2023-billboard-1548.jpg?w=942&h=623&crop=1)
Snoop Dogg has offered an update on his new album Missionary which he’s making with Dr. Dre.
Appearing on All the Smoke with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Snoop revealed that he’s currently hard at work in the studio with his longtime collaborator, and they’re putting together something he has high hopes for.
“I’m in the lab with Dr. Dre right now. That’s Death Row/Aftermath. We finishing that up right now, tidying up the pieces to that. He’s a perfectionist,” he said at the 39:48 in the video below.
Revealing the origins of the project, Tha Doggfather said: “The n-gga called me one day about two years ago. He was like, ‘N-gga, come over, let me do a couple of songs with you.’
“I go over there and he like, ‘N-gga, let me do your album.’ And I’m like, ‘Alright, let’s go!’ We go in, knock out a couple of songs. He hit me back: ‘I need two more days.’ I got that call probably about 85 times. This n-gga need two more days all the time.
“But when you hear what we have and how he got me rapping, it’s like a grown Snoop Dogg. There’s some growth to him. It’s the way he selects his bars, it’s the way he uses his voice. [Dr. Dre] uses me like a fucking robot and I love it because I love to be produced. I love to be challenged.”
Snoop went on to call the material they’ve recorded for the album “masterful” and praised Dre for using his voice “like an instrument.”
Snoop Dogg has been teasing the album for over a year and previously revealed that it would be titled Missionary, though it is not clear if that is still the name of the project.
The name is a nod to his 1993 debut Doggystyle, which was also produced by Dr. Dre and celebrated its 30th anniversary last year.

‘Gin & Juice’ Canned Cocktail Launched by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg
“Look at our age and look at what we’ve done, and we still love each other, so why not do something together?”
Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg have partnered once again, though on a new track, but for the rollout of Gin & Juice – a ready-to-drink product from their new premium spirits company.
The drink, modeled after the classic 1994 song “Gin & Juice” that helped establish Dre and Snoop as hip-hop superstars, the pair are now known as much for their wide-ranging entrepreneurial ventures as for their game-changing music.
“Gin & Juice” (the canned cocktail), comes in four flavors: Citrus, Melon, Passionfruit, and Apricot. It will be rolling out domestically throughout the US now through early spring. More offerings from the brand will be announced in the future.
“There’s passion behind it, and friendship and love and a culture. We’re shooting to make everything we do magnificent, and fortunately, most of the time we hit the target.” “Look where we’re at in our careers,” added Snoop Dogg.
“Look at our age and look at what we’ve done, and we still love each other, so why not do something together? A lot of times people have been in a relationship for thirty years and can’t talk to each other, can’t hang out, so it’s just fun to be in a partnership with people that you actually love.”

I don't think Dre's selectivity is such a bad thing. Unless Dre is 100% on board, I doubt it sees the light of day.

i didn't know that was their process for vocals - not writing, basically punching in line by line in some situations (like the old Eazy days!)
- also real interesting that whatever Sermon had was good enough for them to cut 3 tracks boom boom boom and not spend like 8 years working on a high hat.
that being said...... we'll see if any of it sees light of day.

This is getting off topic, but you are right. The second and third movie were both cool, but they should have stopped after the first one if we are being honest.

“I know as odd as it sounds, I’ve only produced one album on Snoop, which was in 1993, Doggystyle,” he said of Snoop’s acclaimed debut, which topped the Billboard 200. “I mean, we’ve done some songs and we’ve played around in between, of course, but that is the one and only album I’ve produced on Snoop, Doggystyle, so we decided to call this one Missionary.”

“Snoop ain't solely focused on missionary”
Not surprised, Snoop natural skill set is to be an hustler, Dre made him focus on rapping and it worked but since Dre left Deathrow and left him to be on his own, he has been hustling the the whole game since then and have mastered it.
https://allhiphop.com/news/dr-dre-speaks-on-sibling-like-rivalry-with-snoop-dogg-he-does-too-much/
“I said, ‘Let’s make a whole album,’ and Snoop’s crazy ass is like, ‘Cuz, we can get this whole album done in two weeks,’” the renowned producer told Corden. “I’m like, ‘No we can’t. Nah, we’re not doing that.’ Snoop recently said on some interview, ‘Dr. Dre says I need two more days and he said that to me like 85 times,’ so yeah. I just want to get it done and get it right. That’s all it is.”
This is not surprising at all 🤣🤣…..Dre frustrated with Snoop for his never ending hustling & lack of quality control.
Snoop frustrated with Dre for his his perfectionist addiction and over the top quality control😀

Calls Eminem the best Emcee ever -
“Long story short, I met Eminem at Jimmy Iovine’s office, we slapped hands, went to the studio and started recording,” he said. “The first four albums, was just me and [Eminem]. His writing and his delivery and his imagination is off the charts. I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. I don’t think anyone that’s rapping can touch Eminem on that microphone.”
and also said he suffered three strokes coz of high blood pressure -
“It definitely makes you appreciate being alive, that’s for sure. It’s something you can’t control, it just happens. During those two weeks, I had three strokes,”. He also recalled the aneurysm first starting, describing “the worst pain I ever felt” when he woke up, heard a loud pop and felt something behind his right ear.
“I got up and went about my day, and I thought I could lay down and take a nap,” Dre said. “My son and a female friend were like ‘no, we need to take you to the hospital. Next thing you know, I’m blacking out, I’m in and out of consciousness and I end up in the ICU. I was there for two weeks. I’m hearing doctors come in ‘you don’t know how lucky you are.’ I asked questions about what I could’ve done to prevent this, no one could give me an answer.”

Dre sounds like he's the one ready to work on this project til it's done...
During an interview on SiriusXM’s This Life of Mine that went live on Thursday (March 14), the N.W.A veteran told host James Corden that he and his “brother” aren’t always on the same page when it comes to the number of side projects the Doggfather takes on.
“I personally think he does too much shit and we’ve been battling and bumping heads about [it],” he said.
“Hell yeah I tell him that. I’m always in my big brother mode. I always tell him like, ‘Why the fuck are you doing this and that? Come on.’ He’s like, ‘Let me live Dr. Dre, cuz. Let me do my thing, man. Do I bother you about the shit you doing, cuz?’
He continued: “So we have our — I call it sibling rivalries and shit like that — but I would love it if he’d just focus on this thing and make sure this thing right here that we’re working on is the best that it can be.”

Snoop, walk of star quotes -
Rock in the sand on the beach he'd soon discover, now we deep cover blood brothers on a mission,' he rapped. 'House with no furniture, studio in the back with a little bit of food in the kitchen. Long Beach to Compton to Calabasas compositions.'
Snoop continued: 'Pay attention. Quincy had Michael, they rewrote the cycle. So if Dre is Q and Mike is Snoop, we bang G thang motherf**king super group Death Row.'
The 16-time Grammy nominee continued: 'Forever in out hearts now engraved on the Hollywood blocks/ With the Sinatras and Oscars/ Movie stars and mobsters.'
Other verses included Snoop calling out Dr. Dre for making him record every line '100 times' and on they're still 'on the grind' in the studio together after three decades of friendship.
'I thank you for being a perfectionist and pushing me to be great,' he said. 'You always bring out the best of the Dogg, Dr. Dre and that I do appreciate.'
Snoop raved about the 'magic in the studio' they've created and how they've 'left a mark on the world of music' through their collaborations.
'From intro to endo, our partnership has been legendary. Dre, the motherf**king doctor. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor and welcome to my motherf**king neighborhood. Get your walk on, Cuz,' the rapper concluded.

How is that a good thing?
I think he meant that if an old artist realizes he's irrelevant to the young crowd that hip hop appeals to, it might reinvigorate the artist to try harder to make good music.
I will say that Michael Jordan noticed that the young basketball fans had stopped recognizing how good he was, which is why he did "The Last Dance" to kind of reintroduce himself to a new generation of basketball fans who didn't grow up watching him play in the 80s and 90s.
So I think that's what OP meant by saying it's good that young fans don't know who Dre is. However, I don't know if Dre cares about what young hip hop fans in the 2020s think about him, honestly.
-

I can see Daz and Game not being there bit what was odd to me is no Cube or Kendrick being there. Even spots Dre's son Curtis Young in the cut.

Kids know who Dre is. 2Pac is still huge too. A lot of kids and young adults these days actually love 90s music. If you look at streaming stats you wil also see that a lot of old music is doing better than new music.

Game says a lot of dumb things and a lot of times, he says it because drama sells, however, his best albums came after Dre's involvement. No doubt, the Dr. Dre co-sign helped him break through but it's hard to dispute Game's artistry with the discography that he has. Financially, he definitely screwed himself though.
Dre did not create K. Dot. He just rode the wave that Top Dawg built. No doubt, a Dr. Dre produced album is the pinnacle for a lot of people but he isn't the ONE anymore. So many other dope producers that can actually deliver a product.
You can see how Snoop felt when Dre mentioned the Em project. It was pretty sad to see...

I saw that too, but reading between the lines theres some rivalry or shift with Eminem and Snoop in the background. 2 little bros fighting.
Jimmy asked if Eminem would be in Snoops new album and Dre immediately jumped in and changed the subject… for better or worse. I highly doubt you will hear an Eminem verse on Snoops new album.
-
they did that joint together last year tho which was actually pretty dope
but yea, snoop always felt some typa way bout em, no doubt
-
I can see Daz and Game not being there bit what was odd to me is no Cube or Kendrick being there. Even spots Dre's son Curtis Young in the cut.
cube is currently touring in canada no ?
-

It's because for about six years or so, Dre and Snoop were the main duo whenever Dre was brought up, but then Em came aboard and the Dre and Em relationship began to eclipse Dre's relationship with Snoop. Snoop has always been insecure about how revered the Em and Dre combination is. It's some psychological thing going on, like Snoop was the favored son in the family until the younger brother supplanted him. In other words, Snoop is insecure about having to "share" Dre with another artist in Eminem who, at his height, was bigger than Snoop.

Dr. Dre, Mr. Porter, Royce 5’9, The Alchemist, and Shady Records’ newest signee, Ez Mil, side by side with Em
We can expect to hear a lot of Ez-Mill, let's see if he can keep up with the man who signed him.
-
Just sad… Snoop just said it’s not even mixed yet. Dre will start mixing in a few months…
Guess Em is more important
-
You really needed to open new thread? There is one already.
-
I thought this was about Snoops new single called Bye Bye lol
-
Just sad…
No it's not
-
Few months? He said Dre is mixing it in April which is in a week...
-
Then all of a sudden they say it was an early April joke
-
games best album is the documentary so no his best albums weren’t after dre bro
You're crazy bruh. No doubt, The Documentary is a classic that sold more and had bigger hits but I felt like content wise, Doctor's Advocate, and even Doc 2 and 2.5 were better.
-
What em project?
Eminem has a new album coming out...supposedly this year. Dr. Dre has involvement with the project.

I feel like Snoop really doesn't like Eminem but knows if he voices it, he loses some fans, and access to Dre. That's probably the connection he needs, musically.
-

those were great albums and doctors advocate might even be classic, but gota disagree there
-
those were great albums and doctors advocate might even be classic, but gota disagree there
The Documentary has to be the best because it was backed by both Aftermath and G-Unit back when Aftermath and G-Unit were still in their prime.
It was like the last days of my youth. You know you are not part of the "youth" anymore when all you do is complain about the music the kids are listening to these days. So Game came at the end of the era when rap was still making the kind of music I wanted to listen to and I was still a part of the target audience.
Nas called in when he put out HipHop is Dead at the end of 2006--because after that the game switched to skinny jeans and the Lil Wayne, Young Money, Niki Minaj era took over. And I became one of those old heads shouting "get off my lawn."
-
Not surprised Eminem is a recluse who spends most of his days in a studio and probably has a much higher output of music than snoop..
So of course Dre, who is also a studio rat is going to lean more towards Eminem and his release..
But I still think the snoop album will be here soon 8)
-
What’s the point of a new thread?
Em is an Aftermath artist and Dre is not producing his album top to bottom, so can’t delay it.
-

You think Snoop would "lose access" to Dre if he dissed Em?
:dead:

:dead:
Em dissed Snoop before, and Snoop had a soft ass response
-
Em dissed Snoop before, and Snoop had a soft ass response
Those were initially friendly fires from both of them.
Not like the Em diss was anything special, they both tested the water if they really want to go there and decided it’s a stupid move.
The way I see it, they don’t need to be best friends or like each other like that, they just need to respect each other and that’s where Snoop was wrong.
He realised that, they talked and he apologised and they move on.
Now they they repost each other on IG, to promote each other now & then.
I personally think Em’s introvert character matches Dre’s more.
Dre likes to be quiet and go about his business but Snoop even though laidback, is always out there and he’s more accessible, opens his door to a lot of people.
That’s why the respect thing works, at their age, they can all be their individual selves and come together when needed.
-
interesting that Snoop was the one to say Dre will start mixing the album in April. it's clear Snoop would like this album complete & released whereas Dre would probably be happy working on it for a very long time.
and Eminem always has an album ready to come out with Dre's involvement which always comes out whereas other things are delayed/shelved.

Snoop and Eminem’s current styles don’t really match in my opinion. That ‘D to the LBC’ track was forgettable.
Bitch Please 2 worked because you had Dre, Nate Dogg and Xzibit along with them, and Em’s voice and flow was a bit more laid back then.
Let’s see how Premo has blessed Snoop with this presumed new track…

I would guess a summer or fall release.

That Dre remix is sick.
Sounds like a beat from the relapse, before i self destruct era, with Some fresh compton layers.
Think that is the formula for Dre to finally release 15-20 years of work he has in the vault.
Gin and juice lyrics kind of played out by now.
Still nice effort.

Advert is the best rap video in years, love the 1920s Gangster twist of Gin and Juice...should of shot the vid in black and white.
Wonder what duo they will play in the next commercial (Outlaws? Dre and Snoopy Eastwood?!)

Listened to Snoop talk on the Stephen A Smith show yesterday for an hour and not one question or mention about the Missionary album. I had hopes for this album actually getting released but really starting to doubt we’ll see it now.

The album is not finished yet and I think after the DPG Death Row Reunion, a few additional tracks will be taken, it will be released in the fall. The focus is now on DPG, Danny Boy and Death Row Records
-
Well that's not promising. Surely Snoop's should be the priority to kick start the resurgence, in the same way Doggystyle came before Dogg Food.

That was the plan! Probably the work on the album took too long, Snoop is in the summer at the Olympic Games so also no focus on the album, the only thing he could do now to use the time and expand the artist of his label before it's too late

He’s also about to go on tour until almost the end of June, then working summer olympics, so basically won’t be working on the album from now until end of August. Not looking very promising
-
I don’t think any cut from these old Deathrow crew going to the on the album.
This is strictly Dr Dre’s project.
These new Dogg Pound album with cuts from all the DPGC/Eastsidaz members would be good for Snoop to take all of them on tour with him before the Olympics.
I suspect Aftermath have their own roll out planned with Em, Snoop, Marsha and Maybe 50 later in the year

I respectfully disagree. If it's commercially successful, this new DPG album and getting the crew bacc together will yield solo projects, including Missionary, in the same way The Chronic (in theory) was supposed to lead to all those artists' solo projects.
But, again, the DPG album needs to be successful to spawn all of the potential follow-up albums, so again please let's all support it financially.
-
I don't think respectfully, that the DPG album will command anywhere near enough attention to kick off mainstream interest in Missionary. The Chronic was a Dre album, Snoop would come before the DPG in terms of business sense.
But as others have said, if Snoop's attention is elsewhere (which is also ironically what Dre publicly complained about), then I now do fear it won't materialise and I was quite optimistic when Dre said he's mixing in April.

On a business stand point, anything DPG/Death Row related has no affliation with the Snoop/Dre Afthermath stuff.
-
Guys, give it up already, this isn't coming out. Snoop is on to other things, Dre is doing other things. Remember DOC said the album was completed and all was left to do was mix it, this was over a year ago. Dre was not happy with the final result and Snoop doesn't want to record songs year after year for this. Dre even said Snoop lacks focus and can't get him to concentrate on the matter at hand. The album is over with, scrapped, another Detox in the vaults.
Honestly, with the way Dre's production has been lately, and after hearing a few snippets of the new DPG album and new Eastsidaz album, honestly looking more forward to those than this Snoop album.
-
Y'all are delusional (well, except for Soopafly DPGC). Between your "U know what I'm startin to get the feeling that Missionary won't come out :( " and your irrational hopes that Eastsidaz or DPG albums will be even a bit successful it's like y'all can't learn.
Missionary isn't coming out, as it was obvious from the very start. Snoop even gave you dumbasses a clue when he said that Dre "always needs 2 more days", meaning it's never gonna be finished.
For them new Death Row albums to sell anything over 3k would be a miracle.
-
All I'm really saying is that if this new Dogg Pound album flops hard, that could be the end of Snoop's Death Row era before it even barely gets out of the starting gate.
Financial success still matters in this business. I will support the album, but will the rest of you??? ???

What is the definition of a successful album these days? Used to be gold (500k) and platinum sold (1M) copies.
Is it downloads? Copies? Something else? Streams?
How many? ???

It's 2024. October is the talk of the town. Everybody wants to work with him. He is one of the best new R&B artists in the game right now. A DPG project will only be anticipated on the West Coast, a Snoop album will make noise only if it is released through a major label with good marketing, just like that Dre project, Jimmy Iovine is involved so there is a major machine behind it.

october london is dope but he’s not the mega star u making him out to be
he hasn’t crossed over commercially and doesn’t have a loyal fanbase like DPG
if u look at spotify monthly listeners, it’s snoop>dogg pound>october london
-
Outside of Dubcc and the die-hard fans. Who is looking for a DPG album? They have more of a regional impact. October London may not have the loyal fan base yet, but it's coming, the hype is there.

u think the only dpg fans are on here? lol naah bro
another way to tell is based on IG followers
just daz alone got triple the followers of october
i mean if we were talking anderson paak, i would agree
but there’s a market for 90s west coast hip-hop
believe me, i know first hand

I know what you mean, although my reasoning is based on the media outlets ( on IG for example) covering for these individuals. Although they do have a die-hard fan base, that's basically where it stops.

DPG has a fan base worldwide, I come from Germany, there 90s Hip Hop runs best in the clubs no matter what age. Above all, the name Snoop Dogg is behind it again and he has the largest fan base in the world, his concerts are always sold out
