Release Notes:
Flipmode Squad leader Busta Rhymes is set to release his long-awaited
Aftermath/Interscope debut The Big Bang, the rapper's first release in three
years.
The album, Rhymes' seventh solo offering, features collaborations with Raekwon,
Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry, Q-Tip and Missy Elliott, who is featured on the Dr.
Dre-produced "How We Do It Over Here."
Music icon Stevie Wonder guests on "Been Through the Storm," while the late Rick
James cameos on "In The Ghetto," a track completed before the singer's death.
In addition to Dr. Dre, The Big Bang also features production by Timbaland,
G-Unit's Sha Money XL, Green Lantern, Jay Dilla, Swizz Beatz, who produced the
album's first single "Touch It," and Will.I.Am, the beatmaker behind Rhymes'
second single "I Love My Bitch" featuring Kelis.
Dr. Dre says having Rhymes on board at Aftermath was a no-brainer.
"All of a sudden I'm hearing people in the streets talking about how Busta's
back," said Dre, who first collaborated with Rhymes on "Break Ya Neck." "In my
mind, he never left, and that's why I wanted to fuck with him in the first
place. He's got that drive, and he never stops trying to top himself. Anybody
who knows Busta knows that he's always gonna come with heat."
The Big Bang is scheduled to hit stores on June 13.

nice to see they dropped off 'ill hurt you'

They re-used the "After You Die" hook. It sounds a lot better, I wasn't really feelin it on the Rakim Track.

I didn't say Dre produced it. I said I'd like Dre to go in this direction with Detox.
-
Very good album... If Where's your money, I'll hurt you and Imagine made the final cut instead of Get down , I love my bitch and the one with Latoya , that would be a very near classic
-
sounds like a great album.....The quality of music on here is top notch, no doubt. 8)
-
I'ma wait til release date for this one...damn.
-
Very good album... If Where's your money, I'll hurt you and Imagine made the final cut instead of Get down , I love my bitch and the one with Latoya , that would be a very near classic
Yep. This really could be a classic but like 3,4 tracks ruin it. Like you said if Wheres Your Money and Imagine were added, maybe even that Pharell track and cancel Get Down this would have been a near classic.
-
get down is the weakest track on the album for sure
-
get down is the weakest track on the album for sure
Yep wtf was Timbo thinking. Hes been on fire lately.
Cocaine is such a dope track 8)
-
do we know who prod. each song yet?
-
do we know who prod. each song yet?
For Cocaine and Ill Do It All not yet. My guess is Rick Rock and Jelly Roll.
-
just one track with no featuring artist.
-
what songs did Dr. Dre produce?
-
Get You Some, Over Here, DOnt Get Carried Away and Your Time Has Come + Imagine that didnt make the cut.
-
I'ma wait til release date for this one...damn.
I've decided the same. I got about 2 full burned cds of Busta's leaked Big Bang tracks.
I did hear the newest leaked 'Get You Some' & 'Goldmine'. 'Been Through The Strom'. 'In The Ghetto'. Busta is crazy and I did get satisfied. At first I was going crazy cuz shit was wack in the beginning. :-\ I guess that's what happens though. He gave me what I wanted to hear 8) now its a lil more waiting til June 13th.
Okay..and now what?....'Get You Some' doest make the cut?
-

Nah lol. Only Imagine didnt make the cut :D
Oh oh ok got ya now! My fault :-[
-
I read somewhere that Legends of the fall offs was supposed to feature Dre... wicked song nonetheless but I really looked forward to Dre at least dropping one verse on this album
-
nah man anything that involves dre never falls though that sux that imagaine didnt make the cut thats what they get for using a sample i though dre wasnt about using samples too ?
-
By the way on the I'll do it all track..is it LaToiya Williams or Latoya Jackson? , cuz she sounds more like Latoiya williams to me
-
Bonus tracks:
5:06 - Busta Rhymes - I Love My Bitch (remix) (ft. Kelis)
3:12 - Busta Rhymes - I'll Hurt You (prod. Scott Storch)
3:25 - Busta Rhymes - Ping
3:14 - Busta Rhymes - Rough Around The Edges (ft. Nas) (prod. Hi-Tek)
3:55 - Busta Rhymes - Touch It (remix) (ft. DMX) (prod. Swizz Beatz)
4:34 - Busta Rhymes - Where's Your Money? (ft. Ol' Dirty Bastard) (prod. Hill)
You know what to do to get the album and bouns tracks. 8)
can you hook up those bonus tracks?
-
By the way on the I'll do it all track..is it LaToiya Williams or Latoya Jackson? , cuz she sounds more like Latoiya williams to me
definetly Latoya Williams..dope track
-
Its a good album, but i was expecting a classic, i can't believe they made us wait over two years for this though. That is more than enough time for a flawless album. They had all the time in the world to clear whatever samples needed to be cleared. My thoughts on these "sample clearance" issues is that the tracks(Nightmares and Imagine) might be saved and considered for detox...(if they are not leaked).
-
this album is waaayy too short
-
Very good album... If Where's your money, I'll hurt you and Imagine made the final cut instead of Get down , I love my bitch and the one with Latoya , that would be a very near classic
Anyone got this Imagine song everybodys talking about?
-
Will give it a listen here....
-
Wow, haven't heard too many knocks on the album from yall. Still gonna wait till June 12 to hear it though. Just make sure that if you did d/l and you liked it to support Busta and purchase this album.
-
^ Word! Ya'll need to support Busta in the end.
-
Yep this is the 1st album im gonna buy since forever.
-
WOW this album is a heater. I'll be honest I had my doubts but they're all erased now...I'll fasho be coppin this album.
-

Well you can tell that Ill Do It All and I Love My Bitch were forced. Most def Jimmys orders. If those 2 werent on it and Get Down and Wheres Your Money were added this would be a near classic. And yes Im also sure that these aint clearnce problem but Dre probably wasnt satisfied with his verse or the beat....
About the 2 years waiting. I think that doesn thave to do with anyhitng. Almost everybody is making albums for 2 years these days.
-
the track i wanted to hear was how we do it over here. awesome club track, better than the other leaked dre beats. it has to be the next single to sell the album big. will comment on the rest later...
-
yeah, that beat is crazy... they shoulda picked that one!
i liked rakim's version of after you die better
still... very solid album... i'm dissapointed but that's cause i was expecting a classic, i guess. i like the new cube more, but ima bump this too.
-
Ok so Mellowmanisback pretty much cleared that Dre kept Imagine ( and Nightmares) for Detox. I knew all this sample clearance was bullshit.
-
can anybody hook up those 2 tracks that were scrapped?
-
does anyone have imagine?
and also, i take back what i said about legend of the fall offs, its my fav. track off the album 8) kinda reminds me of the last track of genesis
-
Get You Some is my new favorite track of the year. busta comes nice and the beat is siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick!
-
Obviously Dre pulled Imagine and Nightmares cuz he realized they were classics and should be saved for Detox. I'm trying to think of other Dre tracks that were pulled from albums...
-
Definately the best album of the year. Sorry Ghostface.
-
honestly, i dont think that "I'll Do It" is a replacement track. I think the tracks that were used as fillers were "New York Shit," "I Love My Bitch," "Get Down," and maybe "You Can't Hold A Torch." Those seem to be the tracks that dont really have the same type of feel as the rest of the album. The latoya track feels like it has that experimental feel dre has been reaching for. Personally I really like "I'll Do It." This is a pretty solid album, I'm definitely feelin it. Busta's best album in my opinion.
-

Yep. And both said theyre gonna leak it too the streets. I bet they wont. At the end when Detox get released in 2009 Dre gonna realise these 2 tracks are outdated and hes gonna put them in the valut :'(
-
hey can anyone post a link?
or if you have the album link can u PM it to me?
Peace
-
Garbage album
-
Nice album 4 mics
That first track, when the chords come in, :o
-
yeah those chords make that track! 8)
-
This album is way too short and also too dark!!! in my opnion Busta being on aftermath is not that good, not to say that this album is trash. but all the beatss have the same feels to it..and its too dark!
-
*snip*
its too dark!
*snip*
Hell yeah! It ends on a REAL fucked up note with Busta Getting burried, but there are some bright moments on it. New york shit is uplifting to me, so is that Get Down Track IMO, but yeah it is darker than a lot of the shit I like to listen to.
-
I love Bustas new album but they took to fucking long on making this album and i dont consider it a classic by Bustas standards. The shit is banging though.
-
Too dark ?
Like 5, 6 tracks are " dark" the rest is different. Thats what I like about the album. It has a lil bit of everything.
-
Thats what I like about the album. It has a lil bit of everything.
It also has a little bit of solo tracks. :)
-
lol, idd ;)
-
Latoya Jackson=Latoya Williams??
-
dunno, sounds similar tho
-
its Latoiya Williams...must be a mistake...
-
Laugh Now Cry Later > The Big Bang
-
Laugh Now Cry Later > The Big Bang
why do u have to compare?
-
wait is the imagine the one where dre raps 24 bar verse? anyone has that? i thought imagine leaked?
-
Laugh Now Cry Later > The Big Bang
why do u have to compare?
i think coz they came out same time, both legends..
and nawww, big bang >>> laugh now cry later
ice cubes beats have no debth...
-
I really like the remix of i love my bitch...
do you know who produced the beat?
and is it confirmed, if there will be a bonus disc or just bonus tracks??
I think they'll put where's your money and the touch it remix as bonus tracks....
-
I've listened to it just once and I don't really thinks it's all that great, hopefully it will grow on me but I know there are a couple of terrible tracks.
And people that think this album is too short are crazy, still a little too long if you ask me. People have come to use to these long 20 track, 70 minute long albums that drag on.
-

Yeah I like it that its only 15 tracks. I think that not picking Wheres Your Money and Imagine is what really bothers them/me.
This album is definetly a grower, keep bumping it 8)
-
They re-used the "After You Die" hook. It sounds a lot better, I wasn't really feelin it on the Rakim Track.
sounds way better on legends
-
IMO the album has 5-6 classic tracks, and a couple very wack tracks. can't get into the timbaland track "get down", can't get into the latoya song either the beat souds off.. i thought missy was wack on her song. and i love my bitch is annoying.
on the otehr hand the song with stevie wonder is amazing, the song with raekwon aswell, loved it, the song with nas was good, new york shit good...
so yeah i kinda listen to half the tracks all the time and don't really lsiten to the rest.
-
I can listen to the album til track 12 (included) then I have to skip these two wack tracks.. to finish with Legends
-

Same here, except that I like Get Down now.
-
^^^ I don' like Get down but to be honest I'll do it all is gettin on my nerves much more.. I can't play that song even if I'm busy to do sth and just have music in the background... Once again I'm dissapointed that Where's your money doesn't make the cut even if the song leaked for a while
-

Wheres Your Money, Ill Hurt You, Touch It remix and one more track are gonna be on a bonus disc, so I heard

Co-sign.
Filler: In the ghetto, I love my bitch, They're out to get me, Get Down, I'll do it all.
Should have replaced them with tracks like: I'll hurt you, Up to no good, Rough around the edges, Where's your money, Touch it remix, High, or Knock You Out with Biggie.
-
Can someone explain me what on god's green earth makes someone feel I'll Hurt You?
-
^ Well what makes you not like it in the first place?
-
dayum! this album bananas..II bump this til i die motherfuckers!

Youre crazy. In The Ghetto is some funky stuff, Busta rips it Theyre Out To Get Me and I kinda like Get Me Down and I Love My Bitch now, more happy tracks in contrast with the dark tracks. Wheres Your Money, Ill Hurt You and that Biggie track should definetly be on the album. Maybe theyre all on bouns disc along with Touch It Remix
-

yep In the Ghetto is crazy imo but I guess it's a hate it or love it type of track since opinions are very different on this joint
-
in the ghetto is dope.
-
in the ghetto is dope.
sounds very much like The Eastsidaz verse :D
-
in the ghetto is dope.
sounds very much like The Eastsidaz verse :D
yea thats the first thing I thougt when I heard it was that "Hey, tha Eastsidaz did this shit only with Kokane"
But both songs are dope. When they play those trumpets it sounds so sick!
-
can someone tell me where this sample is from, that is used in cocaine and also as I believe in numerous other songs? it annoys me so much I just can't tell where exactly I know it form, hate that feeling in between knowing and not knowing >:(
edit: thinking about it, I believe it's from dilated's worst comes to worst, tho I can't check on it since my computer got fucked and I lost all mp3s lol
-
This album is really bangin', and Busta is spittin' fire... it was worth the wait. The only track I don't like is "Get down"!
-
I really feel that Outro "Legend of the fall" it's really dope
-
after a couple spins i dont think the album si as good as yall are saying it is....the dre beats arent that special either
peace
-

peace
i agree, its a good album, but a lot of people are saying 'OMG THIS IS A CLASSIC!'
yeh its good not amazing though
I think the Eastsidaz flipped the Ghetto Life sample better than Busta, but they still don't have shit on the OG
-
you have a funny feeling this album could of been classic if busta and dre had full liscense to put whatever tracks they wanted on the final cut. ironic because busta said that was the reason that aftermath is so good for him but i guess he loves his bitch anyway.
-

In The Ghetto - Maybe this would be a better track if Eastsidaz/Nate/Kokane's "Ghetto" didn't exist, because Nate & Kokane flipped that 100x times better than James.
They're out to get me - Sounds like a D-12 track, Busta got one of Denaun's throwaway beats, imo, not close to Denaun's best beats or concepts.
Get Down - Horrible Timbaland track, that's not something I say often, but this tracks sound unfinished.
I love my bitch - No comment.
-
im feelin the denaun track a lot. sure not his best, but still hot. adds a certain flavor to the cd
-

Yo Nate and Koka were hella tight on "Ghetto" but you do know they were re-doing Rick James song "Ghetto Life" right? Rick James sang his actual verses from his song on Busta's and its a classic song man, they flipped it differently but Rick James is tight homie...damn guess you never heard the OG he didnt have to flip anything he sang the original...
Agree about "Get Down" and "Do It ALL" and "I Love My Bitch"
But damn im surprised no one feels "Touch It" and "How We Do It Over Here" should have been left off too...those club joints are just boring and repetitve, Missy rhymes the same shit she does on hooks, the beat has energy nothing amazing but Busta could lived it more and just done more his style on it...theyre both practically the same song atleast one should hav been taken off...
-
After all the years Busta spent at Aftermath, all the hype, all the big producer names...
The big Bang did not Bang that hard.
Busta did not raise him game as expected.
The beats were okay.
Damn, why Missy gotta ruin that song? Busta had all that super budget and he gonna go get a ugly bitch who's rappin about her sex appeal! and how she likes to be touched here n there.....urghhhhhhh
-
In the ghetto was the best song on there.
big bang is the best album of the yr so far.

Dont think so. Music wise it really is a bang imo. He got 8 Dre productions and the other producers did their thing too. This is definetly my fav album since a long time. If the tracks Ill Do It All and I Love My Bitch were left off, and Wheres Your Money and Imagine put on, this would be a classic.
They did fuck it up on the promotional thing though. Horible choices of singles. If it were up to me,,it would be like this:
Street single(no video) - Touch It
1st single - Over Here
2nd single - Benn Through The Storm
3rd single - Get Down or Get You Some or Dont Get Carried Away
4th singel - Ny Shit
He would sell a LOT.
-

It's not like all Dr. Dre productions on The Big Bang are decent.
Get You Some -> 3/5

Dont think so. Music wise it really is a bang imo. He got 8 Dre productions and the other producers did their thing too.
It's not like all Dr. Dre productions on The Big Bang are decent.

Yeh, I just found out recently when I saw the Busta booklet.. didn't know Rick James did the original, not too big on old music, my bad. :-\

Now that I think about it...I was enjoying Break Ya Neck more than the Dr.Dre beats on this album..and something is missing,,,there aint no flipmode Party Anthem!!!!
-
The album's cool but I expected better. It gets boring kinda fast, minus a few songs. I think I like "Genesis" more than this one.
BTW, I think "Get Down" is one of the better songs on the album. I was surprised to see so many people hate it.

album of the year thrus far.

album of the year thrus far.
Absolutely.
I got this in the post yesterday - I deliberately avoided downloading any tracks or samples, 'cause I wanted to hear the whole album fresh.
I think it's an astounding album - not one bad track on it. 'New York Shit' is hands down one of the dopest joints I've heard in months... such an amazing, old school East Coast flavour to it.
Busta and Dre delivered the goods, bottom line.
-
NY Shit grew on me like a mofo. Great track.
-
I got bored of this album reaaal quick, typical Interscope release.
-
i cant believe dre produced how we do it over here
-
I'm so fuckin happy I got this is my hands! 8)
Get You Some is sick as hell. And of course so is Touch It.
Lyrics wise..
Been Through The Storm
In The Ghetto
Goldmine
Don't Get Carried Away
They're Out To Get Me
.. :o..Now who was is that said Busta ain't lyrical??
Half way thru it I was like 'Where The Fuck Is That Joint..That Big One'....well.....Legend Of The Fall Offs is that joint!!
Fuck Yeah. Busta's that shit.

^ I think maybe more of the songs will grow on me...expect for 'I Love My Bitch' and yes that same one 'I'll Do It All'.
