This movie looks great, and I have a feeling Aziz Ansari is going to blow up after this. He's getting pretty famous now, but his character "Randy" is fucking hilarious in the movie.

The film is written by Judd Apatow though. It will be more like 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up than Little Nicky and Zohan. I wouldn't be surprised if this film gets Oscar attention later on.

I know that, but I was just saying I don't think Sandler is that funny these days. and I LOVE Appatow's movies but this doesnt look that funny to me. with 40 year old virgin and knocked up just about every clip I saw I laughed, I've seen a few clips from this movie and I haven't really laughed, 'chuckled' at the most.

To me Sandler has never been funny, but I still enjoy Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison. Plus, Punch Drunk Love was great and Funny People is more of a serious film about stand up comedians. Why is Sandler even being used as a barometer to see if this movie is promising or not?

amazing movie, don't go expecting some laugh your ass off comedy; with jokes literally every second.
the funny parts are mad funny & most of the stand-up is hilarious.
it has a serious side to it though, but it's an amazing all around movie.
but like i said, don't go expecting "The Hangover" type comedy with non-stop jokes for 99% of the movie, about 50% is jokes.
highly recommended. 8)

eminem part was def corny, he looks fat too, movie was awesome, def more serious than i expected despite the fact that i was aware after reading here and other places, a little too long, almost 2.5 hours, but, there no part that i can really say should be cut out, in all i was cracking up, and def touched me, lol

the acting was dead on. He didn't have to do anything more. The way he looked and how calm he was when saying all that shit was PERFECT.

i would say Hangover is the funnier movie of the two, but overall as a film Funny People takes it.
Hangover was non-stop hilarious comedy, whereas Funny People had a lot of seriousness in it; which wasn't bad, made it a better all around movie. 8)

I was saying because it didn't meet up it's expectations as it had hoped.. especially for having big name people on its line-up, i.e. Adam Sandler, Judd Apatow, Seth Rogan, that fat dude that was in Superbad.

Seth Rogan is more of a writer. Jonah at his style he's funny compared to Seth at his style. Jason Schwartzman kills Seth Rogan in that witty/serious department.

I haven't watched this yet, but I can bet my right nut this is going to be an efficient film. Apatow is brilliant.
