What did you guys think of this album?
Trash, imo. It had a few joints on there - but not letting Warren G on the boards was a huge mistake. That's all I really wanted from this album anyway - snoop and nate over some smooth g-funk.
I heard G-Dub did a remix of Groupie Luv, can anyone up it?
-
well the album wasn't so bad, but the quality of it wasn't very consistent(yeah too bad Warren G didn't really produce anything on the album, would have been better if he handled most if not all of the production). there were some bad songs on it, some decent songs, and some good tracks ( another summer, joysticc, appreciation, twist yo body, give it up, gotta find a way, i'm fly; also on the advance version there was a nice track called what you wanna do, i don't know who produced it, but if you want it, let me know)
anyway, here's the G-funk remix of Groupie luv(would have been one of the best tracks if it was on the album):

thanks bro
I'd give you a +1 but I don't know how (if you explain it i can ;D)
Yeah, there were some nice songs on here, but overall the album was a big disappointment.
-
This album is awsome, the best album of 2004. people just hate it because warren didn't produce it, but they don't appreciate that the music is dope though.
-
I liked this album, i didnt really get caught up in the hype expecting spmething mind blowing so i was more than happy with it.
-
I was bumping this a few weeks ago. I really was disappointed at first about Warren not doing beats but the album really grew on me. Warren G lyrically on that album was HORRIBLE. I understand that I am not to expect lyrical gems from him but damn he was bad on this album IMO. Snoop was ehh on some cuts but Nate was in top form on this album.

for real ? i thought warren was good on the album, out shining snoop on a few tracks. Especially like his verse from my dirty ho.

Excluding a handful of tracks I thought his rhymes were weak on it. His verse was nice on that song.
-
G dub's never been all too lyrical though. Hell, he misspelled the word "next" when he was spelling it out on his debut album. As long as his flow is on-point and his beats are smooth then he's holdin his own, imo.

yeah nate dogg sounded great on that album, especially on that Joysticc track :) overall the album wasn't so bad, although the sound of the productions varies a lot in some cases. and Warren G, is like you said, not really an MC, but he's at his best on tracks like Get u down imo ( so yeah, the lyrics from him on this album didn't really work out well).
-
great album ;D
-
Don't get me wrong guys, I KNOW Warren is not a lyricist, but he is normally solid at least on tracks and on this album IMO he just did not bring it for the whole album. Except for a couple of tracks.
-
It was cool.... I still play some of the tracks
Twist Yo Body
Run On Up
Lonely Girl
Ups & Downs
MLK
My Dirty Ho
So Fly
-
I luv this album, Nate's chorus' R dope as hell, rap by Snoop and Warren are nice too. I think it would B betta with beats by Warren, but it's still hot!!
-
The Album is solid. You can listen to some G-Funk tracks but also to a shitty track like 213 The Gangsta Clique. Battlecat, DJ Pooh and Fredwreck did a good job.... Just listen to it and dont except a classic cd 8) 8)
-
"213 The Gangsta Clique" is like nails on a chalkboard
and I must say that Snoop and Warren G were really lazy on this album
Nate was definitely the high point
-
i liked the album a lot. my favourite track has to be.... Another Summer (i realise that the song is everybodys most hated) but i love it, from the beat, i know minimalistic, to the hook to Nate on the 2nd verse. so smooth. dope for chilling to.
-
My diirty hoe, is a jam!!! how can u hate on songs like "gotta find a way" that shit is soulful as fuck and Snoop & Half dead produced it
-

Yeah that is my shit off that album. Run On Up is dope as fuck also.
-
I liked this album, i didnt really get caught up in the hype expecting spmething mind blowing so i was more than happy with it.
-
it took a minute to grow on me but its a great album
and i agree that 213 the gangsta cliq is like nails on a chalkboard

Na I like that track the most too. So Fly and Appreciation are my other favourites on this album. Like everyone has said it ain't a classic but it still has some great tracks.
-
never heard the album but I heard like 3 songs off it that were all pretty dope
-
My diirty hoe, is a jam!!! how can u hate on songs like "gotta find a way" that shit is soulful as fuck and Snoop & Half dead produced it

and u are jealous about it!! ;D ;D
-
i think its a good album ....but id rather listen to their solo releases
-
great produtions och a great nate dogg...so its a good album
-

My sentiments exactly.
The few cuts that I like (MLK is dope as hell) are really dope though, so they were doing something right. But overall a HUGE letdown given the concept: Snoop, Nate and Warren G doing an album together. I thought it couldn't go wrong - but it did. Not totally, but it went so far under the bar of my expectations it ain't even funny.
-
It was a good album, but not as good as you would expect 213 to make. "MLK" & "Keep It Gangsta" was straight classic, and the album had alot of other dope tracks...
-
i enjoyed this album as well
-
I really like this album.... 8)
-
I really like the album. It got some fine joints on it like "Another Summer". Was one of my fav tracks in 04 and I´m still bumping it from time to time. The only mistake they made with the record was that Warren produced no song on it. I still hope Snoop, Warren and Nate will reunite a further time and give us an second 213 album.

Thanks for the remix man. Don´t know it before. Are there some more good remixes from this album?
-
never heard the album but I heard like 3 songs off it that were all pretty dope
U gotta check it... 8)
-
Sorry for the bump but when this album first came out I think I had such high expectations that it was a let down. I decided to give it another look as I've been in the mood to listen to some Nate Dogg that I haven't heard a million times. I got to say I was pretty impressed. Nate Dogg is on fire throughout and the production (though not Warren) was actually pretty solid west coast g funk sound.
Favorite Tracks:
MLK
So Fly
Lonely Girl
Mary Jane
Gotta Find A Way
Another Summer (damn Kanye blessed this one)
Keep It Gangsta
Does anyone have these songs in good quality they'd be willing to share?
Groupie Love (G Funk Remix)
Groupie Love (G Funk Grown Folk Remix)
Dolla Dolla Bill
Or any other 213 songs that were recorded during this time that didn't make the album?
-
Yeah, there's "Rolling Down The Highway", a DJ Pooh remix of "I'm So Fly" and some other songs too. Also there's an alternate version of "Gotta Find A Way" (If I remember right?) with Butch Cassidy. I'll upload the songs I have later today. In matter of fact, check your PM's after you have read this message.

Are there any 213 tracks that weren't on the Advance copy and/or the actual album after? Minus the ones already mentioned of course.

I uploaded most of those and sent 'em to kuruptlon last night. You uploaded two songs that are actually on the album. Anyway, here's the pack i sent to kuruptlon. It includes the CDS of the G-Funk Remixes of "Groupie Luv" (in VBR) and some other songs too. Including an alternative version of "Mary Jane" with only Snoop on it, called "That's What's Happening".

then he ended up just remixing 2 joints n called it a day

why didnt warren-g produce any track on the album? anybody know the story behind it?
its been said that g-funk is 3 dudes. a producer, a rapper and a singer.
warren-g was the producer of the group. why he has zero production on their one and only release?
imagine nate dogg has no hooks on the album, almost like warren g has no production on the album.
however im very satisfied about the production on the album. dj pooh did one of his best production when we all think he is lost, also chill's run on up is a classic, hi-tek did his job very well, and mlk!!! damn Battlecat hit! definately a west coast anthem!
but why why why no warren-g?

I think it had somethin' to do with Snoop. I wish Warren G would've remixed the whole album, like he was talkin' about. Battlecat had the best beats on the album in my opinion. I remember he sued Snoop and them after this album came out. It was somethin' about the beats not being finished, but they were released anyway?

There was also 213 - Fallin in Love Again produced by Battlecat
On the European version (maybe Japan also) you had the bonus track "whistle while you hustle" that did not feature Warren G but Daz and Soopafly. Banging track. I do not know who produced the record, had that CD stolen.

Warren G has the habit of saying things then moving on to something else, but can't be mad at him.
He said also that he would leak to the fans the early 213 song "Long Beach is a motherfucker". He had me hyped when he said it. Somebody with "social media" should holla at him about that !
-
Yeah, Warren G does that.

Yeah, this was ages ago though and they wasn't even beefin' or nothin' when that happened. I think it might have been about TVT Records doin' somethin' with the album that Battlecat didn't agree with. I remember readin' about it in a newspaper here and I even cut the article out of it years and years ago.

Battlecat aka B-Sharp aka BC Powder took a few minutes out of his busy schedule to clear up a few things with us. First off the whole B-Sharp thing on the 213 album.
"B-Sharp man, that's me. BC Powder, that's me. Battlecat, that's me. It's just different sides and aspects of me. I love it, when people say "Who's that B-Sharp dude, he sounds like Battlecat". I'm just trying out new things, new sounds, and the 213 album was just the first LP of me as B-Sharp. You gonna see B-Sharp, again, cause I'm sharp man, anybody that knows me knows I'm sharp. I'ma be Battlecat too, it's all me man."
And about the whole 213 Lawsuit thing, which caused alot of controversy, he explained that it's strictly business.
"I had to sue 'em! They put out the record without havin' the contract finished! I gotta get my money man, it ain't no personal problems. I did the music, i gotta get paid. Ain't no beef or no nothin' that muthafuckas be tryna tell you. It's business homie!."
And as far as his music goes, he's been putting the finishing touches on his little brother Mykestro's album, aswell as getting ready to work on the new Tony Toni Tone album, and more.
Look for our indepth interview with 'Cat up in near future!"

Look for our indepth interview with 'Cat up in near future!"
oh so it wasn’t about the beats not being finished, it was the contract not being finalized lol

There was also 213 - Fallin in Love Again produced by Battlecat
On the European version (maybe Japan also) you had the bonus track "whistle while you hustle" that did not feature Warren G but Daz and Soopafly. Banging track. I do not know who produced the record, had that CD stolen.
Does anyone have this to upload: 213 - Fallin in Love Again produced by Battlecat
or
Does anyone have 213 - Sunny Day
