So I have my music organized in folders like this:
music/westcoast/a-m/Luniz/Operation Stakola
Not all of my music is tagged, so when it comes into Itunes it might get put under "Artist"
is there a way that I can have Itunes recognize my folders, and have it label the music like that? For instance in this case, if this album wasn't tagged, it would label it under "Luniz" as the artist and "Operation Stakola" as the album.
Is this possible, or am I just wishing?

i like the auto-tag on winamp, but i just did it on itunes manually, shit was so frustrating, and still not close to done

yea basically its been awhile since i used itunes but i think you select all the song you want under a album the right click on it, and it should give u options on what u want to do

I don't know.... I usually just make sure they're archived correctly when I'm uploading them to my computer
that way the first time they go on the computer I'll always know where it's at

Itunes = Crap
MediaMonkey 3 is far superior; better tagging, better layout, better search, more customizable, more options, and easier to sync with your Ipod..
And you can easily view all folders on your computer in a tree layout explorer style:

The album cover list is pretty sweet too, very easy to switch back and forth:

Everything can be customized, almost like Firefox. 8)

can i used meadia monkey with ipod?
Yep, pretty damn easy too.
Although I'm not known as the biggest Ipod-fan, I helped my brother update his Ipod through Mediamonkey, and without having done it before, it took me a minute or so to realize how to sync the Ipod with the desired folders on the computer.. real quick transfer as well.

with Mediamonkey, can you transfer songs from your Ipod to other comps??

if you're running windows, you can use something like tag&rename or id3tagit to do the tagging
if you use tag&rename, it will search the freedb of tracklists/artists etc and tag your albums automatically for you, i run that over my collection every few months to see if ive missed anything

Not sure.
I think Apple have removed that possibillity for Ipods to avoid "piracy", but there's ways around it.
I know this program called Sharepod that makes that possible, but I haven't checked/tested if MediaMonkey can do the same..

Or better yet, MediaMonkey. 8) No reason to use a program for tagging and one for playing music, when you can have both in 1 program.
Best program to tag I've ever used, you can very easily tag tracks, albums, folders, playlists, even if you have a large collection.
The "Auto-tag from Web" option is sweet, it recognized all albums I've ever looked up from Amazon, and tags them in 1 second.
The "Auto-increment track numbers" feature is also cool, and "Auto-tag from filename" is good for unreleased albums or mixtapes.
