I just readed about a Belgian magazine that tested the bigggest & best quality CD-R brands & came to the conclusion that 10% of the CD-R's are unreadable within 2 years. This goes for Mp3 & Data disk also. The magazine suggests that you reburn your CD-R's each year to make sure that the quality of disk remains best. This is just a warning for those that burn Data on disk for life timage usage must think twice or reburn it each year.
I think this is a scam from the CD-R companys towards the public! ::)

^^^^That's what I was thinking. ::)

This is true in a sense..
...before i used to burn up to 100 a week...
...to save time id burn it 12x because thats a safe speed for my recorder...but i found that since a couple come up with crc error..whereby the computer doesnt recognise them...all i do now is to make sure i burn very slowly (4x) and this seems to work (touchwood.)

damn thats sucky... what about dvd-r's?

Not sure it doesnt say anything about it, probally because its too new to test...

i think its true, cuz ive also noticed some of my old burned music-cds dont really work anymore, i mean some tracks cant be played anymore or they have annoying noises.
but thats a lotta work, copyin all of em once each year.

Its just the CD some time i can buy 1000 and all are great but then i can have some that will not work. And some that i write too but can't read. DVD/WR/R are good i use them the most because of the easy use of the program i use.

P.S
Buy a removable hard drive to back your files up

I don't believe Dutch scientists.. :P
You gotta buy "Verbatim", they seem to be best brand when it comes to CD-R or DVD-R(W)
Those cheap ones suck.. either the DVD-burner won't accept them, or the CD/DVD-players won't play them when they're finished..
