Post by: kingwell on August 07, 2006, 09:24:26 AM
Quote
Cam'ron has done over 110,000 first week which aint to bad but Island def jam fuck up again with christina millians album doin just 50,000 and ron isley droppin by 63% in the second week this joins a list of recent def jam flops such as

Ghostface - fishscale
LL Cool J - Todd Smith

and the end last years mega flops

Ja Rule - exodus
Ashanti - collectables
Memphis Bleek - 534
Young Gunz - Brother From another
Rihanna - Music from the sun < only scraped gold despite having 2 major hits>
Beanie Sigel - The B Coming
Rev Run - Disortation

Allthough Def Jam have been succesful with Kanye , Juelz , Jeezy, mariah Carey and Ne-Yo they have had a lot of flops within the last year, Jigga has had a tough start with def jam but with future artists like nas , fabolous , rick Ross and redman dropping and budden and method man waitin surely the slump will stop , what y'all think

Have we had anymore since then?

Not sure. I just hope The Roots leave Def Jam after the terrible "Game Theory". Them being on Def Jam just ain't right. Besides, the same goes for Nas... He just doesn't fit in.

Yep. Christina Milian with Amazin (even if i think her album is really nice) . Moreover I think that she's now off Def Jam.
How are Shawnna's sales? Flop? (I think so!!)

I want that new Budden's album!!!

LOL @ Beanie Sigel - The B Coming being a "mega flop", when Beanie made the best album of his career.

It didn't go Gold, so that does qualify it as a flop.  But I agree it was his best album ever; I still bump it now.

What? didn't people here say that Juelz got dropped after he "flopped" ?

Nah lol Juelz didnt flop, and the reason he got dropped is cause of Jay's vendetta against Cam and the Dips, he is mad enough to pull strings behind the scenes but has no balls to reply To Cam'Ron who destroyed him.  Thats weaksauce

Another false misconception brought to you by Dipset haters in order to validate their arguments.

Yeah, that wasn't a good look for Dub at all...Def Jam doesn't know anything about how to promote West Coast artist or they don't give a fucc at all...They fucc'd over Jayo Felony too..Fucc Def Jam

yeah, that's a shame too. that was a smooth r&b album.

as for exodus, wasn't it just a compilation of ja rule's greatest hits?

Please explain me why a record (the Roots one) that leaked 5 weeks before the release date hasn't been pushed up  ???
why Method Man hasn't a single video out ? Labels are horrible these days, they blame Internet for all these flops but they take VERY poor decisions and don't know how to promote albums... Def Jam and Interscope are just horrible

600k aint bad but it all depends on what your aiming for. If Juelz first album sold 500k and then moved up to 600k thats good, but if he went plat first time and then sold 500k thats a flop to me.

I think part of the reason Beanies sales were so bad was because he was in jail when the album dropped, it was a real good album though.

Definitely, I guess that one isn't Def Jam's fault.
