I need ta know. Was it Dre himself or was it Sam Sneed?
Pleaze I wanna know it for a fact, if you aint knowing FOR SURE, read it in a booklet or whatever...dont answer.
Thanks guys.
-
it was Sam Sneed
-
oh and Sneed did "Natural Born Killaz" too, in case you wanna know
-
Well the Murder Was The Case booklet says this about Natural Born Killaz: Produced by Dr. Dre, co-produced by Sam Sneed. Dunno if this is one of the alleged "Dr. Dre jack moves", but that's what is said in the booklet. Just thought I'd point that out.
-
^ yea i know, well sam sneed said he produced those 2 & "u better recognize"
-
from daz to soopa ,warren g,187,stu b du,sam sneed, mellman ,michael elizondo, and the list goes on ,I think dre just okays shit that others do and adds a few finishing touches, plus proper mixdown...he aint been independantly creative since the ruthless days,...he didn't even make the beat on the coors commercial!!!!that was just some drums and a bassline!so simple he could have made that shit in 10 minutes ,when it comes to props to producers all i ever hear is dre's name bu
-
I fucked up,anyway ,everybody gives dre super props but lately whats he done as a true solo production?
-
I think J-flexxx did keep your heads ringing he mention that at the end of that diss song he did to dre" Whos been there whos done that." I might be wrong but if some knows what song im talking about to listen to it at the end when he starts mentioning the songs he did for dre and didnt get paid or reconized for...
-
j flex wrote raps for dre i think.
-
yeah he wrote his rap,but hey dre is the best tag team partner for a producer to have haha yell

G'd Up off of Beg For Mercy...
-
Bottom line, Sneed did the instrumental right? It's a fuccin hot song. I've always had admiration for Dre but I lost it in two days: First when I heard the original "California Love" by Mr Troutman RIP and Second the first time I heard "Keep their heads ringin" wasnt even done by him.
I still have mad respect for him, cause he done produced masterpieces, but he aint half the genius people say he is.
-
i know it was a dre + someone co-production either sneed or flexx... :)
it IS creditted on the CD single and 12"...
-
Both tracks produced by Dre and co-produced by Sam Sneed. And Da Illest what are you chatting about, California Love samples Westcoast Pop Lock and Dance Floor by Zapp! and Woman to Woman by Joe Cocker. The remix samples Westcoast Pop Lock and Intimate Connection.

I got a track named "California Love" by Zapp & Roger and it's basically the same song.
-
You can tell simply by listening to it that Sam Sneed produced it, same thing with Natural Born killaz, has that Sam Sneed sound to it.
-
Sneed Produced. Dre mixed, J-Flexx wrote the raps for Dre cause Dre isn't the best writer. He even got Jay Z to write his own comeback track :P
-
i dont know who did what but it a classic tracc i know that 8)
-
Dre has never done anything on his own.
Chronic ~ DOC (writing) Daz (producing)
94 Era ~ J-Flexx (writing) Sneed (Producing)
Chronic 2001 ~ Mel Man, Hittman (Producing), Outside writers like R-Kelly & Jay Z

haha damn u got it bad..
daz has never claimed to produce anymore than gin&juice and one other song on doggstyle. he got creditted for doing those drums on one song on the chronic.
hittman doesnt produce, he's a writer. jay-z wrote one song, royce 5'9 wrote 'the message'.
most of these 'claims' stem from deathrow's usual attempts to blacken dre's name after he left.

Credits in the album booklets mean nothing! & believe me ~ The original Chronic album deprived a large amount of credit due to artists & other producers. That was known in 95!
-
so why when asked doesnt daz claim that now???
-
There was more than just Daz working on that Album. DOC was responisible for a lot of the track concepts and writing which, he never got the credit for.
Lets clear this little thing up. The Chronic was a masterpiece created by a whole host of young hngry artists - WITH THE HELP OF DR DRE. His name (being popular at the time from the depature of NWA and the beef with Easy & Cube) would sell more units with Dre's name. But he did do a bit of work on the album.
-
thats kinda the way i see things.. at the end of the day, dre is the glue that sticks it all together right, he has a rep for being a perfectionist.. throws all the ideas in a pot, mixes em up, and keeps the best... at the end of the day he directs the output, not in a "he just makes the beats" sense like a typical hiphop producer..
-
He's good on a set on decks, no doubt. A lot of producers are like that today though. They have a team of musicians. Like Scott Storch doing the keyboard/piano's on 2001!
Nontheless the Chronic is a classic
-
How do you peeps know who or who didnt produce, U werent there.

Yeah, the daz one always cracks me up. Daz was a fucking crackhead off the streets, had never rapped wrote or even been in a studio, but yet he supposedly produced the greatest rap album of all time. LOL... meanwhile, the album sounds just like a slightly better version of "niggaz4life" production wise, and people will admit dre produced that, but won't admit he produced the chronic, even though it sounds like the same type of production.

They DOC doesn't go around saying Dre ripped him off. He does say he wrote stuff, because he did, but I thought we were talking about producers? When O showed you that Daz doesn't claim to produce the Chronic, you mention the DOC, but he don't produce. Which is it?
-
man theres always been doubt about dre but his still the best hip hop producer..........

yeah this discussion has been goin on forever and wont stop..

Dre is one of the best.

real spit right there. It's VERY obvious when you listen to Niggaz4Life and Chronic that production wise, they both came from the same pot of soup. You can tell that Dre was still in that frame of mind when it started work on The Chronic. Hell, I wouldnt be surprised if some of the ideas that popped up on the Chronic werent originally left over from Niggaz4Life (Pure speculation though)
Niggaz4Life ='s Pre-Chronic! (Undeniable)
