-
I haven't heard the Documentary, but Restless was garbage.
-
Restless is twice the album that The Documentary is.
-
Restless is better then the Documentary but several of the songs on Restless were poorely produced.
-

u crazy sgvizzy
there was no filler on that album and it banged all the way through...i can understand why X heads (esp. ole skool ones) will hate on the album...but garbage?
-
Restless is better then the Documentary but several of the songs on Restless were poorely produced.
^Really???Several???The only track I dont like on Restless is Kenny Parker Show 2001.

Restless was better than The Documentary but the production on both albums are rated the same in my opinion.

well i think that beat is the shit :P the Rocwilder beat is wack and thereīs atleast 4 more beats on it that are weak IMO, donīt remember the names of the songs so i canīt name them right now. iīll post them up when iīm at my GFīs crib tomorrow coz the cdīs there.
-
Hmmmmmmmm...I liked Restless better since it has a West Coast sound to it, whereas Game's album has a more universal sound.
Both albums are tight though.
-
Restless definetly had more westcoast flavor to it, i guess you just have to be from cali to understand :sigh:
-

Front 2 Back is wack???Wow, now thats totally surprising.I'd give Kenny Parker Show 2001 3/5 cause it isnt that shitty but it definately doesnt fit well on the album.

yea that Roc beat is wack, i like the Kenny Parker Show beat but i guess opinions are like assholes...........

front to back was a crazy beat damn how could one hate
-
front to back was a crazy beat damn how could one hate
i hate it coz iīve heard Rocwilder basically give that same beat to several artists just changing little shit here and there a lá Swizz Beats style.
-
i prefer Restless over Documentary... but they're both very solid albums...
that being said, Restless aint SHIT compared to his first album... i like it better than 40 Dayz.. tho, cause the production is better.

well the production on Restless was way better then on his first 2 albums. but on Restless X became everything he had basically shitted on other people for being and i think that turned away a lot of his orignial fans. how you go from Paparrazzi to bragging about this and that? but lyrically X came harder on his first 2 albums but the production was a little too stripped down and simple IMO.

50 Cents made me say the Doc was better.... hahahahaha
Nah, on the real, Restless I thought was the best westcoast release since 2001. I said it bitches.
-
the doc is way way better than restless. Restless was an average album at best, im sorry. Yall are fucking idiots.

yeah and your opinion is the right one I'm guessing? is that what your mom tells you when she tucks you in at night? little glass of warm milk? puts on your 50 cent record for you? haha, clown
-
you know what.. its a close call.. but doc takes it..
restless had more weak tracks... and i skip more tracks on it..
i have it in the car right now and i always skip to 4 (U Know) then 11 (rimz &tires) then 14 (get your walk on) i've never been able to stand the kenny parker show or DNA.. and never been keen on Double time.
with games.. i'll skip Higher (coz i played it out before the album dropped) and maybe Don't Need Your Love
if i'm in the skipping mood.. Dreams, Put You On The Game and Like Father, Like Son (IMO best on there) are definites.. but i normally play it through...
Documentary >> Restless
i will say though that games album is far more a stab at commercialism than xzibits who 'kept it real'.. i think the big mix of experimental beats like front2back, doubletime, dna etc.. plus some good hard bangers.. its not as listenable as documentary..
-
Never really thought about this one...
humm!!! toe to toe
My pick would be X's "Restless"
On the word that I still got it in my trunk bumpin'
where as the the Doc became shelf space. (Even tho I killed that album)
Restless still has me thumpin' it..
My vote goes to the replay value (imo) Xzibit.

Restless is twice the album that The Documentary is.

-
no way, "Restless" for sure... THE DOCUMENTARY was overrated

Front to back was knocking.
You guys are Crazy :'(
-
cant beleive anyone can hate on front to back, shits crazy! but as a album, documentary is overall the better album, but on the mic, what game spit cant be compared to xzibit, xzibit was comin with previous album already made and game was still new.....xzibit was on a another level compared to game....but to me, restless is a 4 mic cd......got played out quick imo...i remember last meal and this came out at similar times and at first i was bumpin restless all the time and only a few james off lat meal but then with time i realised the last meal was a better album than this......and i think documentary is better also......but i aint hatin on restless, that album is crazy to bump to still, just IN MY OPINION documentary is better.........
pz
-
them are both dope albums, restless boosted up my taste for westcoast music.. but as an overal album, doc takes it... I can listen to that album without skippin songs ::) it's a close race though

I thought I'd never see the day, but 'Seer, you crazy.
Just playin' man, but for real, you skip those tracks? Shit, I never skip those... Matter of fact, I don't skip anything on either album.
And to give my 2 cents on the original question, which album is better... Tough call. I'mma give Restless the edge on this one for its West Coast-ness.
-
^ sure ya not confusing what a i skip TO.. with over ;)

DAMN DOG U SKIP ALL THAT ON RESTLESS? EVEN ALKAHOLIC? R U SURE U A WESTCOAST FAN?
-
Double Time is the worst track on Restless hands down.
Production On Restless was flawless, except the Erick Sermon track i mentioned. How can Documentary [with G-Unit features] compare 2 a WestCoast classick that had production from Soopafly, Battlecat, Dre, Mel-Man, Quik, RicRoc, collabos wit Kokane, Dre, Snoop, Defari, King T, Goldie Loc, Quik, Suga Free, Tha Liks, Nate, Butch, etc.??
some peoples opinions crazy
-
Not a single track on Restless I would ever think of skipping... Years after it's been released, I still love that shit. On the other hand, The Documentary, got soooooo old... Xzibit killed Game on replay value, iMO.
-
Both are real dope albums, but I give the edge to The Documentary. The production is more polished up and the quality of the tracks themselves are above Restless. Documentary had one or two filler tracks, Restless had about 3-4.
-

Production on ATSOL was much better than on Restless, it was some straight Likwit shit. 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz probably has the worst production of these three albums, just because it was an akward halfway house between the two styles of production used on his 1st and 3rd albums.
-

yeh, i cant even believe that ppl are actually serious with some of these opinions, guess it shows 2 conflicting hip hop generations.
-
Restless was better than The Documentary but the production on both albums are rated the same in my opinion.
Not even close in my book. Restless is superior in every way.
-
Yall crazy if you think games shit was better than restless....that lp.was classic.x came hard every time....rimz and tirez is my fav.cut.
-
Tracks I skip on Restless - none. tracks I skip on documentary, yea right I don't listen to that bullshit. I'll listen to dipset before I listen to that.
-
Sorry... But Restless was NOT an Xzibit LP. That was some Dr. Dre shit. His input did NOT help X, at all. X will never be the emcee he was on his first two records, though he tried real hard on his last album (which is MUCH better than Restless).
I think it's changed a little, but here's my current rankings on Xzibit albums:
40 Dayz...
At The Speed...
Weapons of Mass Destruction
Man Vs. Machine
Restless

It's all a matter of taste. I LOVE Xzibit's first two albums, but Restless takes the crown for me. His last two albums are his weakest though.
-
i reallly like both albums
but i agree RESTLESS is better.
main weakness of DOCUMENTARY is 50cent.
-
I cant believe some people hate 40 DAyz & 40 nightz, thats his best album imo, here's my list:
40 Dayz & 40 Nightz
Restless
At The Speed Of Life
WOMD
Man vs Machine

nah man u way off
half of the beats on doc was shit
there was like 2-3 filler on restless max
restless 4/5
doc 3/5
-
Damn, I might as well cancel my album if people are hatin on The Doc and Restless!
-
they're both dope, but very different kinds of albums with different styles, tones, and focuses. its almost impossible to compare them because they were trying to do two totally differen tthings.
-
"Restless" is one of the best albums ever released and "The Documentary" don't even come close...
-
i reallly like both albums
but i agree RESTLESS is better.
main weakness of DOCUMENTARY is 50cent.
How is 50 Cent the main weakness? He ripped Game on Hate It Or Love It and How We Fo.His hook on Westside Story was also dope.
Documentary is ruined by "like this, like that,Air Force Ones,Compton,Nwa 4 life.." rhymes.
-
Yeah, Game had more heaters on that album. I always thought Restless was one of Xzibit's weaker albums.

exactly, remember that a west coast classic
i thought every1 agreed on restless but now yall comparing it to the documentary( which is not all its made out to be)

That's all Restless was... West Coast. Dude went from being an all-around emcee to a Regional artist in an album. Documentary was much more well rounded (from the songs I've heard) and is just more accessible for those outside the West. The only songs where X really shined were the ones with Likwit Crew members on them, for the most part. West Coast classic? Hardly.
-
Documentary all the way..There were some really boring tracks on Restless

fair enuff fuckin you right can get annoyin
-
You definetly can't say "Double Time" and "Kenny Parker Show 2001" are bad tracks compared to all of the shit music thats out today. These days I could listen to "Restless" all the way through and since i bought "The Documentary" i think i've only listened to it all the way through twice altogether. The other times i've listened to it i skip through songs like "Hate It Or Love It", "Don't Need Your Love", "Put You On The Game", "The Documentary", "Runnin", "No More Fun And Games", "Special", and "Dpn't Worry". Thats 8 tracks and even if those were excluded from the album Restless would still be better.
-
Restless had 3 bad songs, Drugz and alkahal, the Kenny Parker Show and Double Time. Get Your Walk On is ehh. The rest of the album knocks.
The Documentary got boring for me quick. The only songs I got into was Westside Story, Higher, Put You in the Game, Start From Scratch and Where I'm From. The rest of the album was boring to me.
Front to Back is wack? :o Wow. That song is fuckin bananas. Restless is not Xzibit's best album (40 days and 40 nights is his best album) but it knocks from beginning to end, save those 3 songs. Loud and Clear is wack? Sorry I'm Away so Much is wack? Wow. I think the people who didn't like Restless are backpacker types who don't understand the west coast sound. Another thing I don't understand is people that say Xzibit watered down his flow and started getting commercial. Xzibit ripped that whole album. He tore apart tracks like Front 2 Back and Don't Approach Me. I didn't hear this watered down Xzibit that others heard.
-
Get Your Walk On is ehh.
that is a west coast anthem and 8)

The song sounds like a video game, specifically Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis, the level where he's in outer space and they have some weird disco like computer music playing. I like Fredwreck's remix a lot more.

the fact that that song didnt blow up still puzzles me. especially since c-walkin was big around that time

Cot damn.....I thought I was really the ONLY person who thought the same exact thing. I used to always ask people, "doesn't Get ya walk on sound just like a track from Sonic 2???" and nobody would agree. I gotta go find that game just to see how much it sounds like it for real.

Backpacker types? lol. Doesn't understand the West Coast sound? LMAO. You couldn't be anymore wrong with those assumptions. X was watered down, ask Defari, J-Ro... etc.
-
both albums are on the same level .....and that says everything about the documentarey because restless wasnt even Xzibits best work
both albums are solid 4mic releases in my opinion......i loved them when they came out but stopped listening to most of the tracks after some weeks...shit..i even hear like man vs machine more than both albums at the moment
and i agree with dudes opinion about rockwilders beats....they allways sounds the same
favourite tracks
restless

lmao @ people liking "Sorry Im Away So Much". get off dj quik's dick man, that beat is ASS
-
Restless was one of the bigger dissapointments ive ever heard. I was an X fan & after Bitch Please & his shit on 2001 i expected alot, instead we got an album which is very good, just not the classics he originally had back in the day
Documentary was a superior record sure u got not as much westcoast sound but that dont mean it wasnt a better listen
-
Im a massive Xzibit fan and consider "at the speed of life" and "40D and 40N" as classics and some of the best ever to drop in the west.
But Restless and everything after are average in everyway.
Xzibit flowed better and suited the beats on the first 2 albums 10x more than the beats on Restless and lyrically he was ass on restless.
-
lmao @ people liking "Sorry Im Away So Much". get off dj quik's dick man, that beat is ASS
im not dj quiks dick but tht song amazin, the beat is not ass its a smooth beat tht fits the song well

i agree with you as far as the documentary being better but how do you skip like father like son and especially Where I'm From thats like my favorite track of the CD.... that was a real WESTCOAST track... laid back type crussing down the street shit... but thats just My opinion
Restless is fuckin awsome too tho... its like a neck and neck thing.... but Documentary imo is just a lil better....
