Isn't Dre's best strength the ability to mix records? Why the fuck is Eminem mixing Dre beats? Wtf is going on at Aftermath?
-
Didn't Swizz Beats produce this?
-
Sounds like Swizz Beatz wants to be David Guetta :-X :-X :-X
-
I just know Swizz produced the original Keys song & it sounds pretty much identical to that beat lol.
I know Dre ain't tryna take credit for this.
-
Just as I expected... Just a 2nd mix of that terrible New Day beat for the Keys joint..
When is somethin dope gonna drop? I love Life Is Good but other than that... bullshit after bullshit after...

Dre got Swizz Beatz on deck for Detox™...this is one of their collabs I guess.
Prod by Swizz, 'touches' by Dre (I'm guessin)

The only problem I have with this song is that 50 Cent just can't make a song that has any significance, meaning, subject matter that has some sort of replay value. I feel like every single song he's made since "The Massacre" has had the exact same sound & he's saying the exact same thing. Nothing stands out. Hasn't had good production in nearly ten years, lyrically he's just lazy.
I can go back to this day & still listen to just about the entire "Get Rich or Die Trying" album. But I can't even name you a song that's stood out to me since "Outta Control Remix" lol.
Bottom line, I listened to this song five times...probably won't ever listen to it again lol.

This was one of the songs Dre and Jay did for Detox. Eventually, Dre gave this to Rick Ross... they made some minor adjustments and put it out as a Rick Ross track (so that Dre avoids this track being connected to Detox, while he and Interscope get feedback from fans. It's all a strategy for Dre to figure out what fans like/expect from him and Detox this day and age.

the thing is dre shouldn't care what 'fans' think at all. if dude wanted to make a classic album that people will remember long into the future, he can't constantly second guess himself and put such importance on what other people (jimmy, yes men, the fans) think. i'd of thought with the headphone line making crazy money there's even less need to try and make detox a 'hit record' type album. at this stage the industry is so contrived that to fit in is guaranteed artistic failure.
these recent records/appearances are a bad look on lots of levels. i thought the 'legacy' was all important, so why does he keep taking a shit on it?

Switching gears again, this time to the music, how does it work out where you and Alicia Keys both have singles called “New Day” in such close proximity and your version has the same instrumental and her same hook as her earlier release?
The actual track was produced originally for [Dr. Dre's album] The Detox. I was actually recording with Dre for his record and when he played it, it had a chorus that was a little darker. When he sent it to her, Alicia sent it back with “New Day” and it had additional strings on it. He wasn’t sure that he wanted to use it because of creatively where he was at on his project. I was like, ‘I can use that’ because it would be the bright side of what I’m offering in my body of work. He was like, ‘Okay, take it then.’ Obviously, it was a hit. They’re sitting on it and after a while, she recorded additional verses and leaked the record.
so swizz probably only added those additional strings on the beat, and dre actually made the beat
-
It's nice to hear Dre get his ghostwriters to attempt to be conscious, but everything about this track is wack.
-
if we're talking about this as detox material then damn. the track reeks of artificiality even if its fairly well executed. dre just seems incapable to come up with any exciting directions outside of some forgettable urban pop. almost everything resonating with a wider audience is quite forgettable these days.

Like Quik said in one of his many interviews lately, "I can't remember one hit song from last year, people aren't making hit songs that last no more...there's no emotional content in the sound that connects with the listener" or somethin
I said it recently but got shouted down by Stans - Dre of the 1990s had the best creative people around him. The real talent has gone, only people trying to clone what Dre used to do remain. Shit gets diluted as time passes
