It's here! After minor delays and setbacks, we are proud to bring you the long awaited collabo project between Cali's Bishop Lamont and Detroit's Black Milk called "CALTROiT". Trick or treat comes around twice this year!
On the forum fans have been trying to guess who the "special guest" on "CALTROiT" would be, and a lot of you got it right: Dr. Dre appears on the album on the track "On Top Now", where he does the outro. Other guests include Busta Rhymes, Ras Kass, Glasses Malone, 40 Glocc, Tash, Slum Village, Kardinal Offishall, Trek Life, Royce Da 5'9, Lady Of Rage, Planet Asia, Mistah Fab, Ya Boy, Young Dre, Focus and many more.
If that's not an all star lineup for an album, then I don't know what is. The West's finest hooked up with the Mid-West's finest, frontlined by Bishop Lamont and Black Milk. This version we have for you today is the special edition, hosted by Bishop Lamont and mixed by DJ Warrior. We will be dropping the Cali Untouchable version next week, and an album version of "CALTROiT" with no tags at all will be dropping on vinyl around Christmas!
The producers will be kept silent for now, so you can guess who did what, but names include the usual suspects, Black Milk of course, DJ Khalil, Focus, Dae One, Diverse, so just go ahead and try to find out who did what. To view the full album covers, click below:

I downloadet a couple of programs that unpack RARīs,the thing is those files comes down as exe files,
my computer seems to have problems with that. You know I ainīt a computer wiz,so it got to be ZIP files or nothing for me  .
Iīll wait to your football is over,no problem... :D
try renaming the extension as zip...sumtimes this works
-
PROPS, looks dope :o
my download almost done 8)
-
Just get rid of WinZip and get WinRAR. It unpacks it all.
Halfway through the tape now. Gotta say a lot of the instrumentals so far have been a huge letdown for me. Tracks 9 and 8 had cool ones, but the rest of them up to that either struck me as bad, mediocre at best. Maybe they'll sound better on the second time around.
Raps have been cool though.
-
Dubcnn at again 8)
Downloading as we speak, looks like all the features made it, except for that Talib Kweli and Common joint.
-
There's another Caltroit, "Caltroit Metropolis" coming with DJ Skee in December, so I'm sure that track will be on that one.
-
I somehow doubt that the Common/ Kweli track is a leftover; which is the whole purpose of the Metropolis mixtape if I'm not mistaken.
Let's hope it's on Reformation.
-
It's not gonna be a "leftover" mixtape, it was a conscious decision to make it into two mixtapes so I'm sure they saved some of the hits for the second one too.
-
Ah ok, I misunderstood it then.
So, both versions will be avaliable with NO DJ ?
-
As far as I know, yes!
-
When are you going to post Bishop's interview? Can't wait to read it
I've interviewed Focus yesterday for a French website and he had some interesting things to say! He's producing most of Chino XL up and coming album named "The Secret"
-
Bishop's interview will be up Monday. Props on interviewing Focus, can't wait to hear his album.
-
Cool!
Yea Focus is a real down to earth type of person just like Bishop. The first single of his album will featured Busta Rhymes & Q Tip and he has a track on it featuring Scarface & G Rap.
He also told me that he has finished to work on The Reformation.
-
Dope, can't wait to read it!
-
Dubcnn keeps hookin it up.
-
Bishop's interview will be up Monday.
cool, looking forward to reading it 8)
-
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Bumping this right now and it flames :'(
-
kinda angry over the dre track, him just talking :-X
-
Hmm, noticed that the sound quality is really low, N**ger Noize had way better sound quality. Let's hope that the Cali Untouchable version is mixed better.
-
Ooooh shit, damn!!!
You've got us excited for some long ass days dubcnn!! :) props
Bishop is unreal.. he's really holding it down and gonna do it bigger and bigger.
But everytime I hear new tracks/mixtapes at first I'm like.. do I really like this? And when I give it another spin.. fuck yeaah!
Gonna bump this shit for a long time! 8)
-
Just finished the first listen and as expected, this is really some fresh hip-hop music.
I am feeling every track, except for that Movie Star joint, which is boring. Off top of my head, the track I enjoyed the most were Goatit (Bishop's flow is insane) and that Ras Kass & Royce collaboration.
Can't wait for CDQ, no DJ version of this.
-
after 1 listen this is spectacular
favorite track is goatit, the beat is SICK, everything nuts bout this song
only tracks i ain't feelin or are avg is movie star, if u ready, ret 2 go, bang this shit out
8)
-
Dubcnn did it AGAIN.
MAJOR PROPS.. great to see that Planet Asia is on a feature. Downloading right NOW!
-
Dubcnn brings the exclusives as usual! This is dope, although the sound quality is really low!! Lol, can't wait to hear the CDQ no dj version.......
-
listening to it right now. it's not like whoa but it's cool.
-
Can we get a preview on what Bishop and Dawaun talk about on their upcoming interviews? :)
-
dl'n now. much props cant wait to hear it.
-
Damn, this mixtape is straight fire from beginning to end. This, Bishop's N*gger Noize, Butch/Damizza's Back B4 Ur Lonely, Terrace's Signal Flow, Taje's Hot Box The Second Hit, WC's Guilty By Affiliation, & Blu/Exile's Below the Heavens are the best releases that dropped this year. The West definitely owned this year as far as dope hip hop dropping mainstream or not. 8)

Yup. In fact I was just bumpin' my Smif N Wessun, Gang Starr, & Little Brother albums last night. But today all that's been playin' for me lately is West Coast shit. 8)

good lookin on this, should be a dope mixtape.

Yeah, Aight, but it seems like some cats in here listens to west coast ONLY and those west coast records u mentioned are mixtapes mostly ;)
There has been so many dope records out this yeah. Kanye, Cham, KRS, UGK, Cassidy, Army of the Pharaohs, Common, Talib, Devin, Joell Ortiz, Trae +++ :P

Can we get a preview on what Bishop and Dawaun talk about on their upcoming interviews? :)
Apologies on the lateness of Dawaun Part Two - right now, the date of that dropping is outwith my control as I am waiting on Dawaun and Chris, The GodBody's manager, to fact-check my transcript. I believe a few minor alterations need to be made. I'm sure everyone can appreciate that both of those guys are extremely busy. Thankfully, they're doing their best to make sure we can get it up ASAP.
In regards to what Dawaun goes on to talk about, I'm sure that anybody waiting on these subsequent parts will not be disappointed. I think just about every upcoming Aftermath project is touched on in some detail.
As soon as I get word on when Pt. 2 is fit to drop, DubCC will know! :)
-
I can't wait for CalTROiT Metropolis though, especially since they couldn't fit all the other songs onto the 1st CalTroit, that's crazy. 8)
-
^yup & the pope mobile & ofcourse last but not least the reformation ;)
-
^And that mixtape with Bishop, Mykestro, & Glasses, I forgot what they were gonna call it though or is that that "Pope Mobile" one, I get all of his confused because he has so many in the works, LOL. ;D
-
I'm guessing people like D12, possibly Eminem, Obie Trice, possibly Trick Trick, Warren G, Dwele, possibly Kam etc will probably be on Metropolis cause there were a few artists not on the mixtape i thought would be.
-
I'm sure the reason for some cuts (like the confirmed talib & common track) were due to the fact he didn't wanna release 1 mixtape with all these overwhelming dope guests, and then another with nobody...balance ;)
-
does this mixtape have dj's yelling & shit all over it?
-
the guest appearances on this shits on most actual albums
-
GOD BLESS DUBCC 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
does this mixtape have dj's yelling & shit all over it?
nope
-
mads props on this.....some of the shit sounds hella amatuer and some shit seems like its got nuff potential...like its sick and with abit of work it could have been a banger...
anyone feel like they hearing a obie verse when stat quo was rappin...maybe those niggaz write together, lol
-
Just get rid of WinZip and get WinRAR. It unpacks it all.

Raps have been cool though.
yeah i agree some of the rhymes have been sick...like the line about some rappers should be fans,haha...and some of the beats are weak.......right now caltriot, the stat joint, juggernaut and go at it are bangin but even they sound kinda amatuer in some ways...but then thats the whole point of a mixtape, some shit is gonna sound unfinished or rushed...some raw some bangin and some wack...and this mixtape consists of all that imo
by the way bishop still aint convinced me yet if im being real...but i know his album will most likely be bangin anyways, haha
pz
p.s inconvenient truth instrumental is bangin
-
actually im startiin to feel this alot more already,lol.....and bishops comes alot better on the second half of the album...his startin to convince me,haha....maybe i should delete my first post....nawwwwwww,haha

Sweet... thanks, Pimp.
-
God Damn, Ret 2 Go is :o Rage KILLED this shit.
-
What the fuck! I cant download it. Everytime i click the like it goes to a page with all these random letters. How can i get this!!!
-
I listened to it this morning, but it didn't really move me. There's nothing original or innovative about it... it's not like that's necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't stand out in any way. I'll give it another spin, but for now I have to say I'm really disappointed.
-
Listened to this twice now and it's STRAIGHT HEAT from top to bottom. I don't know what the hell I was trippin on when I complained about the instrumentals before, shouldnt've been doing other shit while listening. The only thing wrong here is that Movie Star joint is mixed to a lot lower volume than the rest of the tape. Not a huge loss though, since it's clearly the one track the tape could do without, but it's a weird slip up to mix it like that.
Bottom line: Another excellent street album. Bishop is that dude.
-
I'm a rap fan and i enjoy hearing rappers that can spit mash on an album. This mixtape is for rap fans. I enjoyed it and c'mon ya'll getting this shit for free, ya'll shouldnt even complain man. 2 free albums from bishop already, with great music. I Gotta give the man his props. I love this CD and its a breath of fresh air. This cd is better than lots of albums out there.
big ups to the whole team behind this mixtape. great release. I'm happy
-
Props on the tape. I'll be checking it out later for sure.
-
the mixing is horrible and movie star is awful but the rest of the album is on point, i'll bang it later on the ride.
PS: smegma you're a fucking nerd 8)

The first listen wasn't that impressive for me either but that's mainly due to really poor mixing and sound quality.
Then I put it on my big ass speakers and put the headphones on and I finally got the normal vibe. And last but not least, let's not forget that this is just a mixtape, so it's normal that some beats sound unfinished or more amauter. Still we got new, free beats from Jake One, Khalil, Focus, Black Milk, Diverse...

That doesn't make sense to me. An artist wouldn't want unfinished work out, would he? It's more likely that DJ Warrior did a very bad job with the mixing than that they've put unfinished songs on this mixtape. :P
-
Nah, I didn't mean the mixing part, which is obviously awful. I mean that some beats sound unfinished (as in let say for example, the piano wasn't added, or something simillar), which is normal for mixtape tracks.
-
You have to remember that anything that sounds amazing or he thinks is album qual he'll keep for Reformation. He may find in the end he doesnt use it and he'll put it on a mixtape but for now i think you'll find most of the best bats are saved and his best verses are saved as well. He was spitting some really hot stuff on this mixtape, better than on N*gga Noize imo
-
i really want this mixtape, but im on mac and it doesnt work can u please post a new link thatll work 4 mac thanks
-
we will be updating the page today with the official ZIP file for those people having problems.
-
Rud, this (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?action=profile;u=8913) guy posted a direct link to this mixtape on itsbx.com.
http://www.itsbx.com/showthread.php?t=986583
Should he be punished?
-
i am going to change the link so people have to come to the page if people keep hotlinking directly to the tape itself....
-
i think lunatic meant that the guest appearance by dre disappointed him.
and i agree with that, after the hype on this site ;) but on the other hand, dre is not really a rapper. but i wouldn't mind if he did rap on calitroit though, he sounded good on imagine (i don't care if other ppl write his lyrics, as long as they get credit it's all good).
-
Was Gon' wait a bit before i dwl this, but i'll give it a listen and see what i make of it!
-
Props dubcnn, downloadin rite now 8)

Keep it coming
-
not listened to it yet. looking forward to it. just noticed that Oh No produced "Ret 2 Go". The tune comes from his instrumental album, Dr. No's Oxperiment (released on Stones Throw Records).
-
Not really feeling it. Bishop used to be one of my favorite upcoming artists, but I think he has gotten boring very fast. Oh, and did "feel on it" had any spins on american radio? Since it was supposed to be Bishop's first single or something..
-
I suggest people download the Matty edit version, the sound quality is much better and far more listenable.
-
When "N*gger Noize" in vinyl without DJ????? Have you got newz about that Dubcnn's team???
