yeah lets all respect Dre, the man who stole Above The Law's sound (The Chronic) and used a Ghostwriter & Co-Producer on every track (2001). I admit he does make some good music and did bring out Snoop & Daz but he doesn't deserve as much respect as he gets

Yeah, he definitely deserves respect although he takes credits for beats he didn't make...and THAT'S wrong.

I'm still suprised about what I asked in a post the other day.

There is no dedicated Dre fan-site these days like there used to be. (dreday)

Actually there are very few specific artist fansites these days compared to the past.

Shit...I'd say DJ Quik, Battlecat, Fred Wreck should get more recognition any day before I said it's time to give Dre his props. Dre's the only West Coast producer that even gets respect across the country.

Dre is a genius and gets 'nuff respect from me, but Its sad to say that IMO Dre aint westcoast no more.  The people who he works with, Eminem, Rakim, Eve, Mary J Blidge, 50 Cent, none of those people are westcoast, nor do they make westcoast music.  Dre still makes dope beats and Im sure hes gona drop another classic, but the Nuthin But a G Thing era ended a long time ago for Dre...

Lol i dont get it...this is an appreciation thread and yall keep hatin on the man. Say thingz like he stole ATL's sound (which you know aint true), and say he takes credits for tracks he didnt produce, even if you've never been a single second in a Dre studio session, you just say what you hear from other people who hav heard it from other people, and not even them did tracks with dre...its obvious some of you have a problem with Dre..i think its time again for Mellowman to step in this thread and shut your mouth....

Props to the greatest Rap  producer that ever did it.

He gets the most hate and love at the same time. The reason he gets hate is because some people feel he is one of the best but they jus don't think of him as the best, and they feel it's shady that dope producers get nowhere near the credit that Dre gets.

Even tho nobody can be sure if Dre is or isn't makin his own beats, why would there be so much speculation that he doesn't make some of his beats? U never hear somebody sayin "I heard Quik doesn't make any beats, he just makes minor changes" and also why would Dre be mad at Daz for sayin it...shit why would Daz say it if it wasn't true?

really... he didn't steal ATL's sound? ever heard Black Mafia Life which dropped before the Chronic? it has many samples that Dre utilized after Hutch did. and i never said he takes Credit but it is true that he used a Co-Producer on every track on 2001 (Mel-Man) except for one track produced by Lord Finesse

1. Take a look at the list of all tracks Dr.Dre have produced: CLICK HERE! (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=30148)

2. Say that Dre have stolen each and every one of them, and that he has fallen off.
Also add that the real masterminds between all of Dre's work and different sounds/styles is Daz, Battlecat, ATL, Fred Wreck, Scott Storch, MelMan, DJ Khalil, Eminem, Focus etc.

3. Watch every sane member on WCC call you a retard.

Dre got me into hip hop.  He's by far, my favorite artist.  He's a musical genius.  He's a REAL producer.  He uses musicians.  Why don't y'all hate on Quincy Jones too?  He did the exact same thing.

Dre wasn't down with any of em row artists after he left, Daz had beef with him plus he's of course giving himself props when he claims he was the real producer of these tracks.. that's why

and why would Dre be mad at Daz for talking shit..? kinda obvies to me..

and the reason nobody be sayin "I heard Quik doesn't make any beats, he just makes minor changes" is that nobody is mad at Quik for gettin all credit cuz he doesn't.. cuz he's not that big --> no bitter fans of other producers feelin like their favc producer is treated unfairly

everybody's speakin but NObody does actually know anything.. they all heard..

Say thingz like he stole ATL's sound (which you know aint true), and say he takes credits for tracks he didnt produce

What up Lil J....If u checked Mellowman last post on WCC he admits indirectly that dre takes intrumentals from other peeps...but he wanted too call somethin like "checkin out new sounds" or some shit like that..other than that..many INDUSTRY cats have expressed the real on Mr Dre and his love for buyin beats/remixin other cats beats and puttin his own name on it.

Oh i just one add one more thing...there is only THREE records that Dre Dre has done by himself (accordin to the credits that is  ;D) The Chronic,Doggystyel and No one can do it better.

The Chronic would NEVER have sounded that good without the people workin on that album like Colin Wolfe,Chris "The glove" Taylor.

Doggystyle has been surronded with rumors of ghostproducers like Daz claimin of doin atleast 2 songs on it...It doesnt even list the musicians workin on that one....and u can bet that were alot on that shit.

Think about it people...Dre is great but not that great as you peeps want him too look like.

LoL @ some people giving the credit for a dope tune to ANYBODY as long as it's not Dre.
Face it.. you can't have a C.V. like THIS (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?board=4;action=display;threadid=30148), and not have at least 95% of the credit yourself.. impossible.
Title: Re:dr dre appreciation thread
Post by: Lincoln on June 24, 2003, 07:23:21 PM
for those who say Dre is better than Quik, check album credits, Quik plays some of his own instruments, does Dre do that? and Quik produces mostly by himself, Dre often uses a Co-Producer (Mel-Man, Mike Elizondo, etc)
West Coast Producers Better Than Dre:
DJ Quik
Afrika Islam
Ice-T
Big Hutch
Paris
Shorty B
Rick Rock
Daz Dillinger

Ehhh your CV is kinda wrong...First of all...Bushwick Bill neva did a song with Dr Dre.., he just TALKED on stranded on death row..and second of all...all those classics 88-93 there was only 3 done by the Doctor himself. And AFTER 95 the good doctor neva been the same. The thing is that all of that work you listed, i bet u think that all of that shit is a classic..and THAT is the big difference between me and you. And about givin other people credits for the work with Dre...i just feel that the work Colin Wolfe and them put on the Chronic has such major influence that it wouldnt hardly has sounded as good without them. You are aware that Colin came up with the bassline melody too "Deep cover" right? And too XXplosive also? Without him=No Classic tracks. Just as simple as that.
