We definitely got some interesting match-ups in the first round this year...Especially on the west. This could very well be the year of the surprise (Lakers over Suns, Warriors over Mavs, Denver over San Antonio, the champions getting knocked out in the first round, etc.)...Not saying all those are gunna happen, but this is definitely gunna be an interesting first round to watch.

Watch Cleveland get to the finals with all praise going to LeBron...If that happens, the media will once again conveniently forget how shitty the east really is. And who knows...Maybe David Stern wants it to be LeBron's year? Wade got '06. Western Conference Champs beware! :-\

That said, I don't see anyone passing Detroit in the east. MAYBBBE Chicago, but Detroit is the team to beat.

Detroit got the NBA Finals on lock imo.. if Chicago had the 2nd seed, they would have a shot but meeting Detroit in the 2nd round ... they have a tough serie against the Heat while Detroit will easily beat Orlando.. I don't think so

Dallas over GS in 4
Pheonix over LAL in 5
Utah over Houston in 7

Detroit over Orlando 4-1
Cleveland over Washington 4-0
New Jersey over Toronto 4-3
Miamai over Chicago 4-2

Dallas over Golden State 4-2
Phoenix over LAL 4-2
San Antonio over Denver 4-1
Houston over Utah 4-2

A rematch in the finals sounds likley, but depends on if Miami stays healty enough to beat Detroit.

tough loss for my raps. but it's all good, it's defanitely gonna be a close series. We caught a tough break with bosh getting into foul trouble in the 1st half, so they were limited. Good to see V.C. struggle, but we needa pick up the win in game 2 or else it's done

Denver is going to beat San Antonio. No one on that team can guard AI or Melo.

Melo is a big problem for SA though. They don't match up well with him. Watching the game, it was obvious that SA was the better team, but Denver has weapons. Another thing is they play the opposite style of ball than SA does, which is why Dallas is having so much trouble with GS. If Den and GS can continue to play on the road with that uptempo style, the older teams are gonna struggle mightyly. 8)

Houston comes back again in the second half, Detroit beats Orlando easily. Howard barley took any shots, and sat the bench through most of crunch time. I know Boozer had 40 something tonite, but McGrady and Yao were too much again. Chuck Hayes made some good hustle plays too.

Detroit - Orlando is no surprise... Rockets-Jazz series ain't finished yet, even at 2-0.. Utah was closed to win each time so I won't be surprised if they even the series at home but Okur has to step it up

Boozer must be pissed for backstabbing the Cavs, now he's a great player and his team might still not make the 2nd round, while the Cavs would have a very realistic shot at the Finals if he was with them.

I thought he was gonna be a matchup problem for Yao, but he hasn't been taking good shots. And I agree with you & Nik about Kirelenko, this guy was one of the premier defenders, and has been basically a non factor. He had a nice block or 2 yesterday, but overall this dude isn't himself anymore.

Bulls & Phoenix dominate, Phoenix was very convincing.

We took a hard L tonight, I have really been sleeping on Anthony Parker, and Bosh was making unbelieveable shots. Jefferson didn't play well the entire game, and our young guys ( Boone, Williams, Wright ), just didn't do it tonight. :-\ We got to pull out at least 1 in Toronto to shift the series back in our favor.

Yeah I am not comfortable with a 2-0 lead playing against Miami but I like how the Bulls are playing. And we are getting good points and rebounds from our frontcourt.

I am glad they came out ready to play for this series. That loss at the end of the season was HUGE, and with a young team you never know how they are going to take it. But they have been aggressive on offense and defense. The only thing I don't like is they tend to blow big leads. They either play wreckless or too conservative. I liked how in the 4th when Miami got the lead down to 7 they kicked it in another gear and pushed it back to 15-20.

Convincing and boring win for Detroit, they go up 3-0. Orlando needs help in the off season, and even though he had a good game, Jameer Nelson should be scoring 19+ every night.

Houston looked pathetic, game wasn't televised but they looked like shit in the highlights. I hope they can pull it out, would love to see T-Mac advance.

And the Lakers won with Kobe making big plays down the stretch. The momentum in the series shifted greatly, and LAL had a complete turn around. Only thing is, Phoenix still kept it close despite LA's best efforts. I don't know if they can do that 3 more times.

^Houston's game was televised on NBA TV.

Orlando is obviously not a playoff team (SOMEONE had to get that 8th seed in the terrible east), and Jameer Nelson had one of the most disappointing seasons ever for them.

Lakers gave their best effort to climb back from a 17 point deficit. If they play like that for the whole game, Phoenix has no chance...PeACe

Orlando is a playoff team because they MADE the playoffs. And NBA TV isn't national, it doesn't come with the cable package. That shit is for losers anyways. \\

As far as the Lakers, they were very impressive last night, but I don't think they can play a whole game like that, at least not 3 out of the next 4.

The Houston/Utah game was the ugliest game I have ever seen, and even though only FOUR players scored for Houston, they were still in the game in the fourth.

Bill Walton would have said, "Would someone on the Houston bench please step up and hit a shot?"

No doubt, we didn't show up in the 1st half, I think they just wanna close it out in Jerz. As for GS, they gave that game away and they really should have won this. There is no doubt in my mind that they will beat Dallas in game 6, unless Jackson gets suspended for his conduct.

Damn.... did anybody watch the last 10 seconds of the Rockets and Jazz ... wtf was houston thinking. They were down by 2

with about 10 seconds left and didn't foul until there was 1.7 left :o. They had one of the jazz players trapped with two houston

defenders and they didn't foul. They probably would have still lost even if they fouled but at least give yourself a chance and try

They gave them a run for their money last year, and in the meantime the Cavs got better and the Pistons didn't. It might be a wild pick, but not an absurd one. Hughes' impact will be a lot bigger than last year, when he was no factor at all in this series.

Chicasgo has to hustle more, all of the matchups in this series favor Detroit. Plus, I know the Nets cannot beat Detroit in a 7 game series.

cavs over nets

spurs over warriors
cavs over pistons

spurs over cavs

LOL@Cavs over Pistons.

You're doubting your own team? Even I think they can...They have a better chance than the Cavs do, at least.

Does anybody else agree that the Spurs/Suns and Pistons/Bulls series would be better suited as the Conference Finals? I think that the winners of these two series will be representing their respective conferences in the Finals. I can't believe someone is actually picking the Cavs over Pistons (assuming the Pistons win). The Pistons picked up Webber and he has given the team a huge lift. In the meantime what did the Cavs do to get better this season? Either way I'm taking SA over PHX, GS over UTAH, CLE over NJ and CHI over DET.

Of course, because I'm not a dickrider, Nets wont match up well with Detroit. True they would do better than Cleveland, but Detriot would still win. Plus, they are leaving Jerz soon anyways.

Not having faith in your team has nothing to do with not being a dickrider. The big 3 from New Jersey can overmatch anyone when they go off...You should know this. :grumpy:

And they won't do that everysingle game. Prince can guard Jefferson with ease, same for Hamilton on Vince and Chauncy on Kidd. And it's ok to have faith, YOU dickride.

And what happened with you saying last week that NJ was gonna be easily beat by Cleveland. Now you switch up? The Spurs big 3 tandem is better than ours, there are a few teams that can shut down NJ. Still NJ>>>>>>>>>>LA

They have a good chance at advancing over Cleveland...

The whole east is weak, minus Chicago and Detroit. LOL@NJ>LA though. Hmmm, lets see. New Jersey plays in the east. Lakers have had by far their worst season as a franchise injury-wise, and we STILL finished with a better record :-X...Kobe>NJ. :-*

"would" don't count for shit...Lakers were by far the most injury plagued team in the league this season. We played in a much tougher conference and STILL finished with a better record. Ya'll probably woulda' lost to the Suns in the first round too, and that's WITH the team putting it together (your team is currently playing its best ball of the year). We also took the season series from ya'll 2-0...Battered Lakers > Hot Nets. :-X

Now he's actually a factor offensively, and he also had a huge block in Game 1 against the Nets. Gooden and Varejao are also more focused now. Z hasn't lost a step. I'm not even going to talk about Hughes who was a complete mess last season and didn't really play last year against Detroit. The Pistons ain't gonna face the same team.

Very good game between GS and Utah.. the offensive boards finally killed GS but they were very closed to win it so it's gonna be a very interesting series.. Chicago is very dissapointing, even if Detroit played great in both ends of the court, I was expecting better resistance from the Bulls.. you can see experience plays a huge role in this series

Yeah Eddy Cuury and Tyson Chandler would have been useful in this series. Well, they had a good year. Hopefully with a high draft pick we can land a big man.

I hear you. I did not want them to trade either one of them. Now we have to draft a big man since the pieces we have Paxson does not want to trade. Deng is going to be a All Star though, we were set, Hinrich, Gordon, Deng, Chandler, Curry. I just hope that pick is high enough to get a legit center in the draft. Detroit is the better team for now. But they are killing us on the inside. Webber looks like a completely different player.

Obviously Chandler is a better scorer and probably better all around than Ben is now, and P.J. is at the end of his career, Curry's just getting good. That's why Chicago should have traded for Gasol. In the long run, it would have helped out better.
