Devil's Night was amazing. They were a strong group.
It is hard to sound bad with one of the greatest rappers in their prime, working with Dre lol.

Haven't listened to that shit in years, for whatever reason I felt like Shit On You was there, definitely shoulda been.Anyways, I always liked Devils Night but D-12 world was a bit of a dud although it wasn't horrible looking back.

Devil's night was dope
-
Anyone could sound good with Em and Dr Dre working with them
-
Never could handle Bizar, but the rest was cool.
-
both of their albums were dope, lyrically Devil's Night was better but the production was on another level with D12 World

Agreed. He was alright on a few songs but overall the group would've been much better without him. I get that they wanted to make him the ODB of the group or whatever but he added absolutely nothing IMO.

Devil's Night was an enjoyable album...much more enjoyable if you remove Bizarre from any songs you can. 50'S takeover ruined D12 for good tho, just when they were really starting to heat up with records like When the Music Stops, Rap Game, Do Rae Me, etc. 50 got the greenlight from Jimmy to release anything he wanted so instead of D12 carrying that momentum into a dope new album, they got pushed back for G-Unit, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, The Game, GRODT Soundtrack, Tony Yayo, Mobb Deep, and nearly Mase and Olivia lol.
-
As a group and album I was crazy disappointed wi the my purchase, it wasn't creative or impressive lyrically to me. I was expecting a more like focused joint, I mean it had great production. And Em was on point but it seems the only reason it sold and got so much attention was because of em, it's nice to look back to see how dope Mr Porter was back then, as a producer and hook vocalist ashame this album will probably get remembered more than Dogg Food where the homies of an great mc atop of the world didn't rode his coat tails and did their own thing

D12 still did pretty well during summer of '04 though but you're right they could have potentially flourished into solo careers
I think the only 3 albums I bought that summer were Hunger For More, D12 World, and Straight Outta Cashville

lol@"could've been better"
...that shit was classic, quit saying stupid stuff to make yourself sound like some hardcore head who nothing is good enough for
-
lmao @ the d12 dick rider himself coming in here to defend his idol, White Jesus and the 12 disciples.
if it was such a perfect record how come nobody in the rap game wanted to work with D12 like they did with G Unit a year or 2 later?

Yeah, it sold because of Eminem, but you could also argue that Dogg Food sold because of Snoop. Snoop had his little cameo in "Let's Play House", he also was on the chorus and kicking down buildings in "New York, New York", and he was all over the album in general contributing a lot to its style and flavor. Snoop was also in his prime at that time much like Em so I think a lot of his success rubbed off on the Dogg Pound. Also... keep in mind Daz put out a solid LP in 98 that had much of the same Dogg Pound/Death Row sound and it didn't even go gold. So Snoop's image and appeal at the time of Dogg Food really boosted sales amongst casual fans.
I think the Dogg Food record was a superior album and I wouldn't worry about anybody putting Devils Night ahead of that album.

Devils night is most ounderated album ever. Shit is so dark and dope. Bizarre is that dude ;D funny as fuck. Also Kuniva and Proof shining.

if Young Thug hopped on a Dre track how would that sound?

Well a couple months ago that cocksucker would say "awful", but since he did the track with Clifford, I wouldn't be surprised if Young Thug is in his top five.
-
As an individual rappers, D-12 members didn't really stand out but as a group, I think they held their ground. They came correct on their albums and the features they did on Eminem albums.
No doubt sales were boosted with Eminem buzz and the production qualities being top notch with the golden era Aftermath producers.
-
The group was ok to me, i never was that much into eminem or d12. I actually got devils night & d12 world on my itunes, listened to them a while ago and especially on the first one there were some dope songs. The most annoying thing about them was always Bizarre, this guy was just in the groupe for shock value and absolutely, I mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE. I mean he has zero rapskills, I don't know a song where he actually sounds good or shows some kind of flow. If they were out for shock value they couldve also let eminem deliver those lyrics, he was dope back then so there was no need for bizarre.

I don't know and I really don't care.

That first album is raw as hell. And Dre had next to nothing to do with it. He produced what, 4 joints of the 18 or so? I don't remember. Maybe not even that many. That was 100% Em and his crew's chemistry that made it dope. And yeah, I couldn't tell the 3 of those dudes apart for years (Kuniva, Kon Artis, Swifty McVeigh), but it didn't matter. One of my favorite group albums of all time.
