Only thing I don't like is how they chop the intros down a bit some times.

Who are the dudes on the outro of NY87? It's an alt version, meaning they didn't just cut Pac's bit out...

Ps I've got this on order now. Did anyone else buy it after hearing the leak?

there's a reason why most of these tracks were unreleased. either i'm not that big on unreleased material anymore or this cd was just boring as shit.

True, you compare most of these tracks to Dogg Food and none of them live up to it. Like Dis isn't even that good and its getting alot of love on here. Oh and sound quality sucks as usual from WA.

the album coulda been better havin' replaced some shit on there but all in all it's some unreleased jams from a classic time in hip hop and is better than the shit both daz and kurupt release today. yeah i said it.

I can see why Like Dis was left off dogg food as it does not fit the vibe of the album and also the dogg food version of lets play house flows better, the rest of the albumis boring

I also like DF over AEOM

This release is okay. There are some cool unreleased songs, however there is absolutely no excuse for putting on so many other released songs. If WA has any idea of who their audience is, then they know that 100% of their audience already has these released songs. If they don't know who their audience is by this point in the game then I don't think they ever will.

Like all WA releases there is no post-production or mixing.

They send someone into the vault.. he finds a couple working DATs from a box.. they take it, throw a few together into an album... call it a day.

All songs not previously released on this album are show mixes (demos for the label to review then...evidently, reject) or rough mixes that weren't even good enough for that.

They have reels for all these songs so why not mix them?

Morons.

It's a shame they didn't mix these songs and hopefully Efrain has the time to do his thing with the album. Overall i gotta say this is a good release, definitely my favorite release after the LBC Crew album. Only songs i'm not really feelin' are "Everybody Needs To Slow Down", "I Don't Care What The People Say" and "These Reasons".

Ya'll need to cut them some slack on sound quality.  You niggaz are forgetting this was recorded nearly 20 years ago in ANALOG format, not the digital shit your used to hearing today.  In todays world they can COMPRESS the shit out of stuff and digitally manipulate it to sound bigger and louder.  Who knows if there has been some quality loss from the storage for all these years too.  It aint easy storing TAPE muthafuckaz.  SMH.

I listened to the first 2 tracks on Itunes and they sound good to me, considering the above.  You can only do so much.  Muthafucka.

EDIT- went throught the rest and there are a couple that sound off, but that could just be the recording... like the beat was recorded quietly.  Heavily compressed.

Well the good songs on the album sound "good" to me... Like Dis, Big Pimpin, Every Single Day all sound good on my KRK studio monitors.  The bass is pretty smooth for a 20 year old track sittin in a vault.  No complaints here.

Life I Lead, NY 87, do sound heavily compressed and not so good.  Not a fan of those anyways so I'm good.  Good lookin Itunes thats why I only gots to spend $3 for the good ones  :o

And there was a little nigga on here who said Big Pimpin was off.  Its not off... I think there might be an extra synth in the background which your talking about.

Low rate mp3s and recompressed muddy sounding AAC from iTunes usually make these things sound much worse

those "analog" master tapes they record on are 10x better quality then any cd. any digital recording has quality loss..... thats why the master recordings are on analog tapes. smh.

Calliing this cd crap is kind of harsh because there are a handful of good tracks.  That said the usual issues such as quality, track selection take away some of the album's full potential in my opinion.

SMH no they're not... its subjective, there is no definitive answer.  If they were so much better, 10x, then why switch to digital?
Some people prefer the sound of analog but those are usually old people b/c they grew up with it.

EDIT- quality loss happens from a lot of things including when they captured it, and if the engineer got the levels right or a bunch of other stuff...

Morons.

will you be working your magic on this like on the lbc crew ?

Absolutely. I've been playing around with a few of them and they sound much much better. I've got Lets Play House sounding proper CD quality-- so fucking nice..I can't stop listening to it.

I'll try to have everything up by first thing next week; Monday or Tuesday. You guys are going to be really happy with the results. Sounds fucking stellar. I'll make a new thread like last time and we can send the whole thing to WideAwake and CC John Payne on it.

Glad to hear that Efrain is working his magic on this; WA needs to put you on their payroll and fast.  Fans complaining about sound quality is one thing, but when Soopafly tweets that the sound sucks then it's clear as day that the fans are not way off into left field.  Efrain, I don't mean to put you on the spot but given Let's Play House OG is probably the worse sounding track, would you object to posting it or sending a pm; would be forever grateful good sir, thanks.

I think Dogg Food was the DPG at their pinnacle. I really doubt they could've made a better album.

AEOM really missed it's potential as truly great album IMO, and could've been a much better album by at least making disc 1 a strong coherent album (and not just a jumble of weaker and stronger tracks) or paring the album down to just one disc.

Dogg food gets weak toward the end with reality an so much style being the exceptions.

AEOM was the first and best rap double album of all time, Pac was the undisputed king of the game. That album is about 100x more diverse and thought provoking than Dogg Food. DF is blunts 40s and bitches, and that's great. AEOM has that and much more.

Dogg food had some brilliant songs for sure, but overall as an album it's not AEOM level.

What are the weak songs on AEOM? I don't think theres any. The only 2 I ever hear mentioned as weak are what's ya phone # and heaven ain't hard to find. I always liked both songs. But even if you think they are weak, there's still what like 20 great to excellent tracks on there.

And maybe it's different if you're just now hearing those albums, or only hearing them in the last few years, but if you were heavy into hip hop at all, you'd know how AEOM completely smashed everything else out at the time.

Agreed, especially on the "Dogg Food gets weak toward the end" part. The first half of the album shits on the 2nd half. If you took a couple songs off the 2nd half of the album and replaced them with "Got My Mind Made Up OG", "Can't C Us", and "Every Single Day" the album would have made a much bigger impact.

Again, what would u consider filler on "Dogg Food"? I thought every song was perfect for the album. The production value seemed a lil higher than on "AOEM". To me, they are both classics on the same level, but I think "Dogg Food" gets the edge, because it flows better as an album and the production sounds a lil more consistent.

I dunno tho the arrangement and instrument set is bigger on AEOM. It just suffers from being a jumble of tracks and Pac repeats himself a lot. A pared down 1 CD could've been close to perfection for a rap album. IMO Life After Death has similar problems being flabby and switching tone between radio tracks and more hardcore rap....lyrics wise it's a classic.

even like dis fucking gets old, i can see why it didn't make the final cut for dogg food or any other project. i mean the beat just sounds like a subpar "ain't no fun" or "who been there who done that" and daz & kurupt's verses are nothing special. maybe it would have fared better had it been released at the time but now it sounds kinda boring.

Dudes expecting too much from the music. Some tracks are better than others, if it didn't make the album (if it was considered a lesser track) then it can still be music that can be appreciated. Just don't expect that you can listen the hell out of it without it getting played out.

West Coast fans should know more than anyone that the G-Shit™ gets played out fast. Just enjoy the tracks as left overs from a dead era of music and quit bitchin.

Whats happened in the year since, apart from the forum and West Coast music dying just a little more?

As far as "Like Dis" goes...

track is hot however it is clearly a leftover scrap. Compare the shit they were releasing in 1994/1995, doesn't really fit into anything that would have been released at the time.
