Not even feeding into potential trolling, on a serious note, I agree.

Em these days is getting difficult to listen to. With that being said, he did have some cool moments on "Hell - The Sequel".

I feel like all the talks of him falling off & albums like Encore & for some Relapse affecting his spot on GOAT lists & stuff made him put out Recovery as like some serious album. Like "I'm serious guys. I'm screaming. I'm not making fun of everyone. It's serious". Homie tried too hard.

I said recovery was wack right from day one. All the em stans were wetting thier pants over it claiming it a classic. I remember the Joe budden forum, a weird bunch who think crooked I can't rap( not wack, just can't even rap) and they were proclaiming it best album ever basically. People just bought into thier own hype for the album. I tried explaining it to people that the album was wack but they wouldn't listen labeling it classik. People were angry about the accents and hated on relapse. So when eminem came out with a single that broke his tradition of first singles and claimed relapse was wack and that he had made a mistake with the accents people convinced themselves recovery was incredible. They completely ignored he'd traded in accents for yelling and horrible singing. His lyrics were hypocritical claiming himself free from drugs then in the very next breathe talking about splitting pills with a chick. The whole album was a mess. The day it came out I made a thread on the Joe budden forum saying that in six months everyone would realize relapse was a superior album. Nobody believed me.And now because of the support idiots gave him expect this yelling flow for at least another album

I prefer relapse over recovery any day and i thought the yelling was annoying from the first time i heard the album as well. On relapse the accents weren't as annoying as they were on encore and atleast the beats were cohesive.

Eminem killed a few verses on that new album with Royce but it also does get tiring pretty quick hearing him screaming and having the same cadence over and over

but Relapse still had the sickest Dre beats... probably his last good batch anyway

Relapse is ill! Period. I mean hes flow, wordplays, skills on that album are on the highest level ever. Thats shit is insane. But that accent ruin it couple tracks, but stil on point. Shit's on Recovery and Encore big time. Bumping those day eminem a lot.

Remember those funny background sound effects he used to do whilst he rhymed? He stopped them since he lost his sense of humor and started to wail like an alley cat.

On tracks like 'Way I Am' he used to shout now he just gets all screamy on the mic.

When people ask me about Eminem, they always bring that up. "But he screams on this song & that song...". First of all, it's shouting to show emotion about what he's talking about. Today he screams on songs that aren't even emotion-filled topics. Secondly, he's used the same voice on closing in on 75 verses in a row. I don't know if you can show me two songs in his career where he used the same flow. People out their still think he's better than ever. Shame.

I didn't mind the accent voice from "Relapse."  It took a little getting used to at first, but after a few spins, I didn't even notice it.  As far as the shouting voice, I don't prefer it, but it doesn't bother me as much as it apparently bothers some.  Also, I can't agree that he invented the shouty-voice for "Recovery."  It seems as though he went back to the shouty-voice after "Relapse" seemed to be getting a mixed reaction from fans.  But if you go back and listen to many of the tracks he recorded post-"Eminem Show" (particularly the tracks from the Dj Green Lantern Mixtapes when he was feuding with Benzino) he was shouting his ass off on those tracks too.  So it seems as though he experimented with using the "accent-voice" for "Relapse" and went back to the "shouty-voice" for "Recovery."  Personally, I prefer the "nasally, corny-white-boy" voice he used on "The Slim Shady L.P." and "2001," albums, but that's just me.

Lol no. I think people are so annoyed with the shouting now that they're making out his accent on Relapse to be not as bad and forgetting how truly horrible it was. But that was the worst delivery he's ever had. His shouting is almost as bad. Both deliveries are wack as fuck. He needs to go back to biting Masta Ace.

Eminem is the greatest rapper to actualize on record, at different points, that he's told his story, has nothing else to say, can't make a living any other way, and continues to record.  First, it happened on Encore.  Then he had his drug addiction, fell off, lost a lot of money for Interscope.  He recovered and released an album, Relapse, at once an expression of his recent struggles and an attempt to capitalize.  He had found another story to tell.  His struggles with drugs paved way for a new story to be told.  He did the depressing part on Relapse.   He was going to continue this but due to it's poor sales decided to focus on the positive side of recovering hence Recovery.  But, now he's told his story again and he realizes this.  if you listen to Bad Meets Evil HE TELLS US THIS.

I liked Relapse when it dropped and also liked recovery. Relapse has more replay value in my opinion but recovery definitely has some dope joints on it. He needs to get back in the booth with dre because "so bad" and "ridaz" he seemed a lot more focused. The yelling is getting tired but had some pretty sick verses on hell.

Just listened to some Eminem show tracks and agree that the charisma is gone.. His flow is getting monotone and boring.
I'm one of the few people that actually likes the accent shit he did on relapse, it made it different and funny in a way..
Still like him though, better than 90% of todays shit imo.

Yes, I agree with most posters in this thread. Relapse was far better than this constant screaming.

But on the real, Eminems main problem has always been his voice. IMO, if we're talking skills, Eminem is the GOAT. The problem is that he gets tiring to listen to almost regardless of how he uses his voice. Personally, I dug his old Slim Shady style, but a lot of cats even found that annoying. Almost everybody finds the accents and the screaming annoying. On the other hand, what's a brother to do with a voice like that? Rappers like Nas have it easy. I can listen to Nas all day without getting tired of his voice. He doesn't even have to switch up his flow, because his voice just sounds goooood! Hell, Snoop almost made a career out of having a great voice, given that he's hardly put together a decent set of lyrics since Doggystyle. The Game is another cat who's just got a great voice.

Eminem has got one of the worst voices in hip-hop, but he's still made it to become the biggest rapper in history. That's pretty good going. Having said that he needs to stop with the screaming now and even more importantly: he should make a fucking vow to never ever attempt to sing on a record again.

Slim Shady flow >>>>>> accents >> screaming >>>>>>>>>>>>>>getting kicked in the balls>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Em's singing.

I disagree considering he's always using some sort of weird voice but sounds normal in interviews. Maybe if he tried using his real voice for once it wouldn't be tiring or annoying.

it's funny u mention that cause i was once listening to the radio and didn't know it was eminem speaking and in my mind it was a black dude speaking until i finally noticed that was em lol. but isn't eminem the definition of a wigger though ?? I don't mean that as a disrespect or as a judgment but being from the ghetto, hanging out with ghetto youths and therefore sharing the same social codes, if you happen to be white it makes you a wigger, right ??

anyway, Eminem has to be among the 3 or 4 most famous rappers in the world nowadays. I think Jay-Z and Kanye West are bigger. Snoop is arguably bigger worldwide but more for his status as a socialite/entertainer than for his raps. 12 y/o kids know who Snoop is without possibly knowing a song for him. 50 cent is up there too i think.

It's 15 years after his death and you can go any hip hop forum on the Internet and see 2pac being discussed. 2pac has been copied and imitated forever, and forever will be. 2pac is Elvis status. Snoop can't even sell a gold album anymore. Nobody knows anything about snoop BUT his name. 2pacs entire life gets discussed tirelessy discussed with college and university courses based him. I agree with your first few sentences. He has legions of groupies all over hip hop websites. But you missed the point, which I'll repeat again.

Em is the best selling rapper but Snoop is bigger as far as being a household name.

Snoop is a bigger name, regardless of how much he sells. Yes, he's considered a joke most of the time, but that's meaningless in this discussion. Does your grandmother know anything about 2Pac? Do kids in elementary school know anything about Pac or even know his name? Just because the guy probably has more stans than anyone else doesn't mean he's a bigger name. This isn't the 90s anymore and today's generation of kids don't know anything about him unless one of their favorite artists mentions him. More people know the name Snoop Dogg before 2Pac and that should be obvious to anyone. Some of y'all can't distinguish between how you feel about a rapper and how much their name gets around.

hes always done the loud voice thing, so its not like its really new.

He used to only yell on tracks when the moment called for it.   Like take tracks like "Shit Can Happen" or "Amytyille", "Words Are Weapons", "Fight Music"... it wasn't like forced yelling back then, it was more like he was yelling when the moment called for it.

"Way I Am" was one of the tracks where he yelled for the whole song, but still it fit perfectly, with the overall mood of the track and that moment in his career.

...The difference now is that he is forcing himself to yell on every track just because he liked the way it used to sound.  The problem is that it appears forced.   The realness, the desperation, and turmoil that existed in his life before aren't as relevant for him in 2011.  He's already fulfilled his destiny.  Only thing left for him to do is figure out how to be happy and enjoy the fruits of his success.  Because he deserves it.  But as for rapping, he has nothing left to prove.

Too much screaming and forced rhyming from Em nowadays. How come on The Warning (Mariah Diss) his flow is normal? He needs to stick with that flow.

Maybe his producers (executive producers) are fucking up his flow for his album material.

Underground, My darling, and Careful What you Wish for and the warning were the only songs were he sounded normal. The accents/screaming flow doesnt even bother me any more used to that shit now

Deja vu >>>>>>>>>>

He sounds normal, is introspective and has all the qualities of classic eminem. It's still my favorite em song since eminem show came out.

For real, that track is gold. And Em is easily the biggest rapper in history, everybody and their dog knows who he is

I guess everyone & their mother know who Snoop Dogg is too. The difference being, twelve years later, he's still selling albums multiple times platinum, despite getting worse & despite the fact it's harder to sell albums in this day & age. Em will push a million a record, even if he took the Kanye route & made an album of him just singing in autotune lol.

Yeah, Deja Vu is one of the best songs he's made in the last few years.

Deja Vu, Ridaz, Space Bound, 25 To Life & Beautiful.

Looking back, I think Encore is a poor album to use to say "he can sell even if he sucks". That album followed "The Eminem Show", an album that a lot of people consider classic, especially his fans & some people even consider it his best album. So Encore was his "The Massacre" album. He sold off that album not off of singles, but just coming off of his third consecutive classic & figuring he'd drop a fourth.

Relapse is him selling while "farting". Even though I liked that album, not only was he using a foreign accent, but his singles were terrible. "We Made You" is the worst single he's ever made. On top of that, coming off of a weaker Encore album. He showed he can't fail with Relapse.

I dunno about the comparison to "the massacre", that album had huge singles and was unfairly hated on, a lot of dope joints on there.
