Supply and demand.
-
Try getting an Apartment in NY... They're just as expensive. Big cities are almost always expensive... Cuz like Lincoln said... Supply and Demand. The Demand is high for houses in the L.A. area, so they're bound to be expensive.
-
Not in East LA. My dad paid between $200-250k for our house. Then he just knocked it down & built a new, way better house. Getting the permits for this is a bitch though.
-
that's just california in general, you should see northern california....altho i'm surprised you havent already seeing as ur on the bays nuts
-
Word... It's real expensive up north.
-
Just kill an old woman and live in her crib.
-
Yea it's just because so many people wanna live in LA. My parents paid around 150,000 for our house in Gardena, and it's worth over 500,000, even though it's not in the nicest of neighborhoods. Even in Compton and Watts, houses are pretty expensive. Inglewood is definitely high priced as hell, and lets not even talk about Carson. I think LA is the only place in America that has hoods where houses cost 300 400+ thousand dollars.
-
shits fucked over here in england too.. an entry level house is 120k.. (213K USD).. on an average wage round here you can only borrow 60K (106K USD) my parents house which is an ok size.. has 3 bedrooms but 1 is pretty small is worth around 180K (320K USD).
60K is 3.5 ish times the average wage.. a couple both earning average wage cant double that to borrow 120K but more like 85K.. the multiplier drops to 2.5 not 3.5 for a couple... yes i know some places with offer over 2.5 or 3.5 x.. i've been offered mortgages of 5x my salary.. i'm likely to have to borrow over 4 times once i've saved up a deposit. i'm having to save 20 grand UK (38K USD) to be able to buy a house.. and on top of that i'm gonna save a bit more to pay for legal expenses, some initial basic furnishing & appliances and have money left afterwards
-
They want you to pay up or move away :D

YOu live in Gardena? I don't live to far away from it. Yeah..the house in calis are expensive. We gotta either kill more people or kick them out of the california. ahah jk. but on the real,...we need to get rid of people. These real estates guys wanna drive poor people out of their homes...damn. and be no more poverty.

not really.

As far as San Francisco goes, there's a reason why the bay area got the highest rate of homeless people in America and so much public and section 8 housing etc. And everyone else who doesn't feed off the government lives paycheck to paycheck barely making it. Not too many people know what 'poor' is anymore, the poor has become majority. And it has created this cutthroat state of mind that is tearing our society apart from the inside. It's a fucked up situation for all, we will all wake up one day realizing life passed us by while we were planning for something better for ourselves, sad but true.

^.. thats deep.. way i see it u gotta keep building towards something n stop procrastinating

you wouldn't think it's expensive there.

not really.
Many houses in Compton actually are expensive compared to the rest of the country. They might not be as much as a house in OC, West L.A., or any other Upper class or upper-middle class neighborhood, but for the type of environment that Compton is, it definitely costs more than almost any other place in America. For the price you will probably pay for a 2 or 3 bedroom in gang territory with a lotta grafitti all through the neighborhood, you could easily buy a 4 or 5 bedroom house in Atlanta or it's suburbs in a very nice neighborhood, and that is a big city as well. So yeah, it really is expensive there, especially in the spots where it isn't 100% grimey. And Watts has a few streets off of Wilmington that have very nice houses and they definitely cost a lot to live in.

I live on Orange County and I paid $165,000 for my condo and now similar units are selling for over $375,000.

real estate is probably the best investment you can make these days and not just in america. my brother bought his house for 1.4 million SKīs(about 200k$) 5 years ago and he sold it for 3.1 million last year. and thatīs in a very middle class area. definently gonna buy me a house within the next 2 years coz even if i have to take loans itīs damn near impossible to not make a profit in the long run.
-
bostons expensive as fuk too. my house cost 150g originally i think, not it could go for a mill i bet
-
Get this, my Grandparents bought there house in 1968 for $45,000
Estimated market value of their property Now is $1.8 Million (they live on a hill, i guess that makes a difference)
