Ferguson had ref row, say Man Utd
Manchester United have confirmed that Sir Alex Ferguson and referee Steve Bennett had a row at half-time of the Reds' 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.
Newspaper reports allege that Ferguson told Bennett he would "need a police escort out of here".
A United spokesman revealed: "There was a heated exchange but it was limited to the manager's assessment of the referee's first-half performance.
"Any talk of a threat is nonsense," the spokesman added.
Striker Wayne Rooney is reported to have joined his boss in hurling abuse at Bennett - and said to have damaged United's dressing-room door.
Ferguson also wants the red card shown to Cristiano Ronaldo reconsidered.
The Portuguese winger was shown a straight red by Bennett for a lunging tackle on Andy Cole midway through the second half of the Manchester derby.
"The referee's decided it's a red card and I think he should look at it again really," Sir Alex told MUTV.
"He's not touched the player, he's not even got near him."
Bennett was not initially scheduled to officiate the match - he was deputising for the injured Mark Halsey.

If Ronaldo's sending off was fair then the tackle on him before it should have been as well, it was just as bad but he actually touched the player.

you like man utd, dont you? i've noticed you sticking up for them on a number of occasions
and only someone who likes man utd can try to defend ronaldo
jordan's tackle on ronaldo was very hard but he did win the ball. ronaldo's challenge was high, it was a lunge and he was trying to hurt cole.
that's why he walked.

im gonna disagree ;D if u watch, ronaldo doesnt lunge at cole he lunges in front of him as if to block the ball. The problem is that he did lunge with studs showing so it was dangerous play so i can see why he was sent off.

Tranaldo was right to go
Should he have only bin sent off if he broke Cole's leg ? Because thats probably would have happend if he made contact.

Na im a Leeds fan which kinda contradicts my constant stickin up 4 Man united.lol I just feel that people who dont support manchester united give them a hard time over nethin, whether it was right or wrong. For example if Man united were given a fair penalty a fan of just about every other club in england would say it was a dive....Also i like teams wit a scottish Heritage (Half of Leeds team were scottish in the 70s) n Teams wit Scottish managers/Players down south (man u, Everton, Alex Miller at Liverpool, Wolves,PLymouth, blackpool etc)

but as i've said only really someone who supports man utd could try and defend that challenge
im gonna disagree

LOL dont get me wrong i wernt surprised his red card werent reduced because it was dangerous, i just meant that it could easily have been a yellow. It was a stupid challenge to make.
