Title: strenghts n weakenesses of 2001
Post by: LyRiCaL_G on March 19, 2002, 08:51:18 AM
what ya think??

strenghts:

the beats on the whole album were dope 2 me and i think some ppl underate the lyrics on this which i think were kinda dope and i think that tracks 2-11 were all 5-5 classics

weakenesses:

after track 11 the album starts to drop off a little, just a slight bit but i think the second part of the album is used to show upcoming talent n shit while the first half was basically all classic

whats your thoughts?

^definatly on point homie^...the second half of 2001 was a taste of the future, while the first half was a classic taste of the past.

I think it has no weaknesses.

I loved every track. The only one I had a problem with was "Murder Ink" but that song was still a solid 4/5.

the major weakness of the 2001 compilation (it's not really Dre's solo album since he cannot carry a true solo album by himself) is Dre's lyricism.  His lyrics in a couple of songs ("Fuck you" and "What's the difference"  for example) are just flat out wack.  To quote Ice Cube "Hey yo Dre, stick to producin"

I didn't like the later songs as much as 1 thru 11, but I wouldn't call it a weakness. That album is still better than anything I've heard in the last 3 years, IMO.

2001 was a classic...without a shadow of a doubt...how can u knock dre for putting youngbucks up in the game?....also u cant knock dre for his lyrics....he doesnt write them...he only recites them....all the beats were on point....except the message....that song was garbage....i hated that beat...the intent was there....but dre shouldve produced it.....

dawm da album is dope .. as fuck . . classic fo sho .. a near perfect album .. but da prob was dat there werent many dre solos .... i mean he released it as his album .. but it was mostly da other artists showcasing their talents..
