Title: BONES worst movie of 2001?
Post by: Crenshaw_blvd on March 12, 2002, 04:35:30 AM
"From CDNOW:
Those enamored of bad-boy rapper Snoop Dogg will want to check out his turn in 2001's Bones as a perfectly groomed and handsomely dressed (if you like purple pinstripe suits) 1970s pimp named Jimmy Bones. But that's about all this film has going for it.
Back in the day, Bones was a revered member of his Los Angeles community, but was unmercifully killed by enterprising "brothers" looking to sell crack in the 'hood. They wanted Bones to be a partner in the trade, but he was an ethical businessman of sorts -- he believed in peddling flesh, not drugs. There were five people present when Bones was murdered -- Pearl (Pam Grier), his "bottom bitch" (this is slang for a pimp's highest earning, thus favorite, whore); a crooked cop, Detective Al Lupovich (Michael T. Weiss); Bones' right-hand man, Shotgun (Ron Selmour); a wannabe yuppie, Jeremiah "Jay-Bird" Peet (Clifton Powell); and a particularly shady character, Eddie Mack (Ricky Harris), a sleazebucket with an incredibly feminine coif (think a black Annette Funicello in Beach Blanket Bingo).

The building where Bones lived and was killed has been lying empty since that fateful night in 1979, but as the movie begins, we discover a group of suburban teens have bought the place with the intention of turning it into a raver nightclub they want to call "Illbient." Despite warnings from the locals that the place is haunted by a man-eating black dog with red-glowing eyes, they move in and begin renovations. A romance of sorts strikes up between the kids' ringleader, Patrick Peet (Khalil Kain), who turns out to be Jay-Bird's son, and a local girl, Cynthia (Bianca Lawson), who turns out to be Pearl and Bones' lovechild.

It takes about an hour to make that much sense of what's going on in Bones, and even more effort to stay interested once you do. The film is shot so cheaply and is so badly acted by pretty but incredibly generic actors, it could be a series on the WB television network. Sure, Snoop is a compelling personality and incredibly charismatic, but he appears in just a handful of scenes and barely speaks. And yes, there are some high-tech effects and a number of gross-out gags (such as one where it is raining maggots inside the club), but this is beyond a doubt one of the worst movies of 2001, if not of all time. "
I'm a snoop fan,but i must admit that Bones sucks(to me).
WHAT DOY'ALL THINK?

Trust me homie's who haven't seen this movie yet...
this ain't as bad as most make it seem....
I've seen worse..

Keep it real (Kurupt)
New jersey drive (Heavy D ect..)
Meteor man (B-real...ect)
Breakin'...1 & 2..(Worst flicc's ever)

yall get what I'm sayin'..
but really tho even if it was as wack as they make it out to be..I'm still proud that I supported Snoop at the movies...and when his shitt was made availible on Dvd..
and today is "Officially" Wash day..

so go grab ya sponge's & Shamme's n shitt..
it's time to get the car's clean..before they install roller's and fire us all..
(It's a wash thing homie's..)

what kind of movies can do snoop?
To me seems like he can do only the same roles....Training Day(drug dealer),Baby boy(gang banger),The wash(weedman),
Bones(drug dealer).....and in the future?
Personally i can't see a big future on the big screen for snoop,
only cuz i don't think that his cinematographic career will not be promising like his music career.....he's limited in my opinion.

i didnt think the wash was that good either.. i dont really think Dre & Snoop are that good actors, maybe they should leave the actin to Will Smith & Ice Cube

true, and also snoop can do more money with music....now every rapper wanna act,but its not so easy.
Everything they do its not always tight, don't be blind....music is a thing, but with the movies  :P  :P  :P
Tha Eastsidaz movie was really really really wack, and his next movies will be better?

I think comedy movies suit Snoop, he's a funny mofo off camera so he can just be himself. I havn't seen Bones yet, I prolly wouldn't wanna see it if Snoop wasn't staring but i'm sure it's not as bad as the reviewer makes out. Who do y'all think have come off as the best rapper/actors so far? I think Cube (even though Ghosts Of Mars was whack imo he's still shined in most of his roles) & 'Pac are by far two of the best.

Will Smith. I can't really think of a wack part he's played at all.. even though he's not much of a rapper, no other rappers really come close to his acting.

Whatcha talkin' 'bout? New Jersey Drive was a dope movie.

I seen this one movie with Snoop in it a few years ago, but I forget what it was called.. it had Ice-T, Big Pun, & Fat Joe in it too.. I don't even remember what it was about, just that it was one of the worst movies I ever fuckin' seen.

Keep It Real with Kurupt was very wack, kurupt made an appearance for about 4 minutes at the end, the best part about the movie was his freestyle at the beginning, i guess if they didn't put that at the beginning people wouldn't even make it through the movie.
