franics to the knicks deal almost complete
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/writerCould Stevie Franchise soon be bound for Broadway?
The Knicks and Magic are close to a deal that would send three-time All-Star guard Steve Francis to New York for a package of players, according to two league sources. Details of the trade were still being worked out, according to one of the sources, who emphasized that it had yet to be completed. The Magic apparently have decided to wait until the last minute before Thursday's trade deadline to see if any better offers come up.
If the trade goes through, it would represent yet another high-profile acquisition for Knicks president Isiah Thomas, who already has added Larry Brown, Quentin Richardson, Eddy Curry and Jalen Rose this season alone. The 6-foot-3 Francis has averaged 19.4 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists over his seven-year NBA career. He would join Stephon Marbury to form a backcourt with a combined five All-Star appearances.
The Knicks apparently are ready to send three players, including two regular members of the rotation, to Orlando in the deal. Neither team's officials will comment on any ongoing trade talks, but it is likely Jamal Crawford and Maurice Taylor would be included. The Magic are in a rebuilding mode, and the 6-5 Crawford is considered an intriguing young talent who would be able to step in and help fill the team's hole at shooting guard. Taylor would likely be included to help make the salaries match Francis' $13.7 million a year.
Francis, who was traded from Houston to Orlando last season as part of the Tracy McGrady deal, has been unhappy with his role this season under new Magic coach Brian Hill. Last month he refused to re-enter a game late in a blowout loss at Seattle, and was suspended two games. He later apologized, but the Magic soon after decided to listen to offers for a possible trade.
Francis, who celebrates his 29th birthday Tuesday, might welcome a change of scenery. He clearly has looked frustrated this season, and heads into the post All-Star break averaging career-lows in points (16.3) rebounds (4.8), assists (5.7) and three-point shooting (25.7 percent). He recently came out and admitted his play had become affected by constant trade rumors.
As of last week, the Nuggets were considered the front-runner to acquire Francis in a trade. But Denver reportedly was leery of picking up the remainder of his contract (three years, $49 million). The Knicks, already owners of the league's highest payroll, have no such concerns.

Why would we get our hopes up? LOL...I don't think ANY Laker fan wanted the Lakers to deal Odom for Francis...That would make the team even MORE unbalanced and would just bring us further down.

I agree. That trade would not solve our problems.

Thank God we ain't getting him.

Francis, who celebrates his 29th birthday Tuesday
wow especially at that age, we're cool with smush, it's no secret, the key to any dominant franchise these days is a dominant big man
shit look at all the power house teams....

fuck steve francis and fuck isiaih thomas, the man is a hall of fame player but on the real, he sucks dick at being the president. i mean, things cant get any worse than they are now, this current knicks team is fuckin horrible but i cannot see marbury + francis being able to work together productively. all i see is 2 ball hogs. wat the fuck is goin on in NYC?!
-
oh yeah, and if they add david lee, nate robinson, or channing frye in this deal i'll personally shoot thomas in the face

You answered your own question...ISIAH THOMAS. Negro is HORRIBLE at his job. Why in the fuck would you put 2 headcases like marbury and francis in the same backcourt? He's basically fucked the Knicks for the next 2-3 years.
-
i heard about this trade rumor a couple weeks ago but i didnt think anything of it because i didn't think larry brown or anyone else in NY would let thomas live if he pulled this trade off. i wonder what larry brown thinks about this whole thing, they shud just let him make all the fuckin moves he wants because on the real, the Knicks are at rock bottom. i guess the trade can't hurt because anything right now will be better than the 1st half of the season

LMAO @ they knicks, just when you think they can't do anything more stupid they go ahead and amaze you. Marbury + Francis, I gotta see this lmao

The knicks are stupid. They are a classic example that you can't just spend a bunch of money to make a talented team.

yeah, you need brains behind the GM position

i dont know if having Francis will solve your problems. But in all honesty, it could take some of the offensive pressure off Kobe. Odom has played soft all year. He's in the middle of his career, so he is probably as good as he will ever be. The Lakers, with THIS lineup will never be anything. So they might as well shake things up some.

Lakers wud be dumb to take francis' contract, it wud fuck up their "07/08 plan"

This lineup will be maintain only for the current season, and maybe for the next aswell. CURRENTLY , we have to improve with this lineup , outside we can acquire Garnett but it's just a dream. We have to build something consistent for the future and Francis isn't part of it . First Francis is two 1/2 older than Lamar. Second without Odom we would be outrebounded BADLY.Third Phil doesn't like scorer pt guard. Now we have to focus on closing games, Lamar being consistent when it comes to score, involving more Bynum and with the time Turiaf. That's all about until 07/08. This team can be 5th next year ( believe it or not that 12-13 stat in 6pts games or less is killing us )

Why is everyone hating on Zeke for every move he makes? Man, the Knicks have some fuckin' talent on their team...They have a good roster, I even predicted playoffs for them this year. Larry Brown is way more deserving of hate than anyone within that organization...I mean, he's supposed to be some big time coach, but he can't even get all that talent to work together, he ain't doin' shit right...
PG Stephon Marbury...Nate Robinson
SG Jamal Crawford...Quentin Richardson/Penny Hardaway
SF Jalen Rose...Qyntel Woods/Trevor Ariza/Malik Rose
PF Channing Frye...Maurice Taylor/David Lee
C Eddy Curry...Jerome James/Jackie Butler
^^This team should EASILY make the playoffs...Man, there's a lot of talent on that team and some great potential. Potential Larry Brown hasn't used to his advantage...Lets take a look at how things would look if the trade went down...

I don't know how well Steve and Starbury would be able to play together, but it seemed as if the Knicks were heading places when the season was just beginning...Now it looks as if Larry Brown hasn't done the job people hoped he would, and everyones pointing the fingers at Isaiah, which is causing him to make more trades, when trades are not even really needed THAT bad... ::)
-
i agree that the knicks have great talent and great potential but for some fuckin reason it doesn't gel together. i also agree that a lot of people are pointing the finger at isiaih and larry isnt takin as much of the blame because hes got the "credentials". people shud place more of the blame on larry because so far, he hasnt made it work.

New Knicks roster (for the 7509757954th time):
PG Steve Francis...Jamal Crawford/Nate Robinson
SG Stephon Marbury...Quentin Richardson
SF Jalen Rose...Qyntel Woods/Malik Rose
PF Channing Frye...Maurice Taylor/David Lee
C Eddy Curry...Jerome James/Jackie Butler
I definitely see enough talent on this squad to be a playoff team. It's now up to the coach to get his talent to work together...No more hate for Isaiah. If Phil Jackson was coaching these Knicks with the current record, everyone would be hating on HIM. It's time for Larry Brown to start using what he has...If he really knows what he's doing.

Ballhogs and/or need the ball to be effective. They're gonna have some troubles.

That's where Larry Brown needs to step in and make them realize what it will take to win...They all have the talent, it's mainly up to a coach whether or not talent can be used to an advantage.
