you think...
I'd imagine if it's a DJ Pooh beat, it was MADE for Tha Dogg Pound
-
I imagie since Biggie was associated with Puffy, that they bit the beat.
-
I'm Sure Dj Pooh Sampled It From Somewhere Else.
-
The booklet doesn't mention samples for any of the tracks on Dogg Food.
-
Neither Does Doggystyle.
-
DJ pooh did. You know PUFFY bit that shit....and gave it to bigg
-
like dude posted, Daz said on DPG Eulogy that they took it from Biggie
-
That was a hot lil video, never knew Biggie had it before the pound, the biggie one sounded hot, wonder why an mp3 of it never leaked.
-
video doesnt work

you don't always have to list samples in the liner notes, it depends on the agreement with the publishing company.
-
video doesnt work
-
video worked for me but that was a 2 days ago... HAHAHAHAHAH @ EVERYONE ASSUMED PUFF BIT IT
-
The video is working now.
Never seen/heard that before, sounds dope actually. I really liked Wu-Tang's St. Ides commercial too.
-
I dont even have to click on the link to know what this commercial is.......its the st. ides commercial right?.........i remember this very clearly, and yes, it came out before the dogg pound song dropped..........Im sure dj pooh did the song for the commercial just cuz he used to make songs for st ides all the time, Im sure old school heads will remeber this (i remember one with threat, who was a dj pooh artist at the time) there was another one with dj pooh flying around like a super hero (super nigga like the king t song?) so i have no doubt the beat was originally for the commercial but was later used for the song (which is kinda ironic given the subject matter of the song)..........

Daz From DPG Eulogy:
"That was Melle Mel song, New York New York. What made it controversial was the beat, cause Biggie Smalls rapped on that beat with DJ Pooh at the St. Ides commercial, and it was just a commercial. So we took the beat, Kurupt and Snoop went and made it happen. Just cause we had the beat it made it controversial cause Biggie was on it. And we went to New York and they shot at us at the video shoot. And it got back with 2Pac and them, and thats where the heat started so we got back and started kickin buildings. But that made it legendary for us."
-
!00%correct.

Biggie sounds so dope over the beat, i bought a st.ides mixtape like 4 years ago and it had this, the Wu-tang song, and two scarface one's as well as all the dogg pound ones.
Daz said they sampled Melle Mel, but isn't New York New York a Kurtis Blow song? I could be wrong.............

I have Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five Greatest Hits and they have "New York New York" on there but the beat sounds different. The chorus is exactly the same but the beat is totally different.
