You know...All I ever seem to read on these boards and all other boards is that Snoop Dogg has fallen off--he doesnt care, blah blah blah. And Im REAL sick of reading it.
First off, some fools have said that because he's working with Ja Rule he doesnt care about his fans. Hmm..couple of things to consider here. First off, maybe Snoop is friends with Ja Rule and respects his music. Second off, the majority of hip hop fans (as sad as this is) love Ja Rule (look at his fucking billboard position week after week). So how is Snoop working with somebody thats super popular in the hip hop community going to piss off the majority of his fans? And no-greasy faced virgins like Tom187um are not the majority.
Also, I just listend to Topp Dogg today and it is a DAMNED good album. So aside from "The Game is to be Sold.." which is more miss than hit, Snoop has fired back with "Topp Dogg" (4 mics), first Eastsidaz (4 mics), The Last Meal (4.25 mics), and Deuces and Trays (4 mics) IMO. Also, Bones was a conceptual masterpiece and the Snoop songs of the Wash soundtrack are bangers.
And yes, Snoop's sound has changed a little since Doggystyle but hes 30 , not 19 now. He's matured and he's making the kind of music he enjoys. I dont know why you guys cant respect that. I still think Snoop has one of the tightest flows in music. The only thing Snoop is guilty of is guesting on too many albums, but he has seemed to slow that down to build up anticipation for his next album. I cant wait for his next album and I hope it's a continuation of the sound and style of The Last Meal and Deuces and Trays--the NEW Snoop Dogg.

very good point
also i have a feeling
when he has the best record deal he will release his best album
that is why that swizz beats song he did and said was incredible
was takin off the last meal
the last meal was good but
snoop could have made it better
but didnt
because master p and priority get money off it

I agree...

Yes snoops sound has changed ALOT since doggystyle. age has nothing to do with anything, you are as old as you feel. his flow is tight AT TIMES. he isnt as consistent as he used to be. see, i dont compare snoop to avg artist. i compare him to himself
alot of peeps always say how an artist has grown, and they aint gonna sound the same as they did when they were a young pup. which is true, but look at outkast they rhymes havent slipped at all since theyre debut.
the bottom line for me is....you cant come as TIGHT and VICIOUS as snoop did early in his career and expect most people not to notice or care when u aint comin tha same. now if we there was no snoop doggy dogg we would be satisfied with big snoop dogg. but that aint tha case. snoop is the one that set that high standard
by tha way top dogg is a tight album, but i wanna see snoop use some of dre's strategies and strive for that "perfect" album. for somebody as fortunate to work with dre as much as he has, he should use dre' record making strategies for his own benefit.
snoop hasnt fallen off, but he needs to push him self to reach his potential
-
What bothers me is that Snoop Dogg will probably never be considered a hip-hop legend... he needs some (2 or more)damn good albums (classics) at the end of his career if he want that position.
-
that pisses me off too, how snoop cant be called a legend, thats why im sayin snoop NEEDS another banger, a classic...

Yeah.. he will definitely be remembered a long time after his retirement... but he won't make it amongst the hip-hop legends that will forever be remembered...

I'd like to believe that... but have you ever heard someone call Snoop the G.O.A.T. ?

we talkin bout legend not "goat", and first not only the critics but also the fans called him that way , go out sometimes you'll know

I dont give a fucc Snoop might not be a Lengend for the critics but he is one for us:The Fans
-

I been out... lol... but I ain't never heard no Snoop = G.O.A.T. talk... but he is one of the biggest emcees out there today... he'll be remembered... sadly he never had the lyrical skill required to be a G.O.A.T. contender or achieve legend status.
But I'm a Snoop fan... don't get me wrong. I just don't think he'll ever be looked upon as a legend.
-
dawm everywhere u go u heard snoop's name , critics , fans, directors, about everyone in the business know that snoop is a legend , why do they have to call him a legend .
everyday someone'll be like , hi superstar legend snoop dogg motherfucka , nawww, they know it , thats it, and everybody who snoop works with said that snoop is a legend , fuck the goat theres no goat to me , theres only legends and snoop is one of them , thats it
-
I'd say Snoop is definatly a rap legend. He's achieved alot & he's been in this game for a long ass time now & even though none of his follow ups to "Doggystyle" were classic & even though I do think he fell off he's still been pretty consistent considering & he still has MASSES of fans.

Another thing to consider is how long Snoop has been relevant in the rap game. We are talking a decade plus folks, that's not easy.

Snoop is a LEGEND.

-
i dont think that snoop has fallen off he jus changed his style. i still think that he needs to work with the dpg more but i guess he wants to expand his horizons.
-
I'd like to believe that... but have you ever heard someone call Snoop the G.O.A.T. ?

Holy fuck, it's the female Slickk!!
Anyway, whoever said Snoop won't be considered a legend is dead wrong.. he's still popular as hell, even though I DO think he has fallen the fuck off. I ain't a Snoop hater.. I just ain't felt anything he's done since like '95. Mothafuckas still be buyin' his shit, and they always will.
-
^^ yeah double fuck you up in yo bitch ass >:(
-
snoop aint never gonna be called goat... who give u right to be named as goat?? the media and the hiphop-magazines.. snoop have never been on their balls, so they will never choose him in hall of fame... the day he starts sucking their balls and obeying all they tells him to do, he will be goat...
-
Snoop has become more versatile...He can come hardcore like his verse on Lay Low and he could do smoothed out tracks like True Lies...A lot of Snoop fans want him to come with that Doggystyle type rap but it's not about that all the time...Snoop has grown and likes to express himself in different ways...He hasn't fallen just matured...
-
dont get it twisted yall. snoop is a living legend...they cant take away what he did for the game!! ;)
-
^^ yeah double fuck you up in yo bitch ass >:(
:D :D :D :D :D :D
Suck my mothaaafuckin' dick!
-
to everyone sayin that snoop can't be called the goat or a legend they are completely wrong. i'll say it right now and i bet a lot of other peeps think this too:
SNOOP DOGG IS THE G.O.A.T AND HE IS A LEGEND IN NOT JUST THE RAP GAME BUT ALL OF MUSIC.
-
ya'll faters could take some lessons from topdogg
-
Holy fuck, it's the female Slickk!!
LOL. I feel the samebout Snoop. Other than the shit he did on The Wash and Bones, and his Top Dogg album, I haven't been feelin 95% of the shit he's dropped. just my opinion
-
Yeah..snoop did fell off with "tha doggfather"...but later on, he started droppin dope albums like, "Top Dogg"...he is gettin better...
-
Yeah..snoop did fell off with "tha doggfather"...but later on, he started droppin dope albums like, "Top Dogg"...he is gettin better...
Yeah... with the exception of "Da Game Is To Be Sold, Not To Be Told".
-
Yeah..snoop did fell off with "tha doggfather"...but later on, he started droppin dope albums like, "Top Dogg"...he is gettin better...
see thats the problem.. everybody sayin "he's gettin better" "he's almost there" he aint an athlete coming back from knee surgery. he knows what folks want to hear. i remember him sayin in an interview for topdogg or last meal, that he notices everyone at his concerts knowing every lyric to his old hitz and he wants to bring his music back to that level.. i dont think he has done that yet
-
Holy fuck, it's the female Slickk!!
.
so what exactly did u mean by that? lol ..went over my head..
-
Holy fuck, it's the female Slickk!!
LOL.
Back to the topic...Snoop IS a LEGEND, there's no doubting that, but the G.O.A.T? C'mon people, be realistic, there's many MC's that are greater than he, but I would say he dominates/reigns in the charisma on the mic department.
-

NO DOUBT. ;D
