That's right. The Bay Area has been getting lots of airtime on TV and radio stations, aswell as of course the online publications. With E-40 on the forefront with his hit single "Tell Me When To Go", the Bay is slowly but surely getting into the spotlight. The Yay is going Hyphy, and ya'll better get with it!
A significant factor in the Bay Area movement, Balance has been on his grind for years, proving he's got what it takes to make it. After several mixtapes, the Oakland spitter is set to release his debut solo album "Young & Restless" on March 21st through his independent label Ayinde Music, with distribution being handled by SMC/Fontana.
As it is our habit here at dubcnn, we got some exclusives in store for ya'll. We caught up with Balance briefly, and he told us a little bit about the record. In addition to that, I also have the official cover, tracklisting, and two tracks for ya'll. We had brought ya'll the edited radio version of the street singles "Gotta Get It" and "It Is What It Is" (ft. E-A Ski) a few months ago, Balance allowd us to leak the unedited album versions aswell, so make sure you grab that.
"I feel like this is my best work to date. "Young & Restless" is the definition of West Coast Hip-Hop. I got 14 slammin' tracks, it took me 3 years to finish this album, and I feel like this is the time.", Balance boasts about his debut.
Balance has always worked heavily with the beat-monsters E-A Ski & CMT. The duo has been producing for Balance from the jump, and they got 3 tracks on "Young & Restless". When asked about the work with Ski, Balance had nothing but positive comments, "Working with Ski was dope, he's one of the best producers I've ever worked with. For one, his beats touch the street, and they are very professional. When you do a track with E-A Ski & CMT, you know you're gonna have a great opportunity to shocase your skills.".
Other producers include Left, Trackademicks, Tha Productz, Seam, Erk Tha Jerk, Shonuff and more. Although most of the CD is Balance rapping solo, he reached out to a couple homies to rap on the CD. Casual, Chamillionaire, Frontline, Seam Erk Tha Jerk, Aristotle & E-A Ski all make an appearance.
If you click on the CD cover above, you can view it in full size. You'll notice Balance is sporting a Eazy-E shirt. "The Eazy-E shirt was personal. Eazy was my favorite rapper comin' up. I had teh chance to meet him once at a record store in the bay, and he was the coolest dude. I was hurt when he passed, and the shirt was a tribute to my favorite rapper, basically", Balance said. Eazy has always been looked up to by young business minds. "Eazy represented a CEO's mind, and an innovative artist. That's what I wanna be".
Sounds like Balance got his mind right, The album should be a breathe of fresh air.
