I was just wondering...because it seems like practically everybody is crazy about this Hyphy movement that's going on. I realize that this Hyphy-thing has been around for about a year or so but lately all I see is "Tell Me Where To Go is a banger!" & "I'm feeling the Hyphy sound!" or "This shit is bananas!!!".
Honestly, I don't even feel it a little bit. It's not that I don't wanna support a new West Coast movement, because most of you know that I'm always up on the latest West Coast artists who make good music (Omar Cruz, Scipio, Damani, etc...), but I just can't stand Hyphy music.
Anyone who shares my vision or disagrees with it?
-
i cant stand it ... fuck it lol
-
I like it very much. In comparision the the G-Funk sound it is nothing, but at the moment I like it.
Songs I like very much:
Keak da Sneak - You know my name
E-40 ft. Keak da Sneak - Tell me when to go
Champ Bailey ft. J. Valentine - U C it
and couple more...
-
It makes me wanna dance!!! so off course Im feeling it!!!!

Haha..Word!

i mean iīve only heard a couple of Hyphy songs and i take them for what they are. itīs just some extremely weak music from a lyrical stand point with some hard hitting beats thatīll have the clubs goin crazy and i can appreciate music like that when iīm in a club but itīs certainly not something iīm gonna kick back and listen to at home. same with crunk music, you wonīt catch me sitting by myself at the crib listening to it but i donīt mind it at a party or whatever coz itīs not like iīm listening to the lyrics when iīm in a club..
-
i give the Bay props for initiating there own movement, and I feel some Bay artists, but the "hyphy" sound in general doesn't really appeal to me.
i don't knock there music or what there doing, good luck to the Bay, because the Bay and LA should unite to bring the West together as one.
-
:banana_trippin: Yeah I izz
-
its cool
a little over hyped if u ask me, but thats fine because im always glad to see the west getting some attention
-
i cant stand it ... fuck it lol
-
i'm feelin it.
shababoloppboopy!
-
yeah i'm not really into it.. it does remind me of crunk a bit..
-
i'm loving it! The whole area is buzzin, the sun is shinning, and the grapes are looking real nice and dark at the club. Shiets lovely
-
i dont like it. Same with crunk. Im just not feelin it.
-
its just the next phase of hip hop, what are you guys already getting dated and nostalgic?
-
i dont know why u wouldnt like it
its the PERFECT SOUND!
you can listen to it at the party, at the club, or while working out, or just driving in a car, it's perfect for any occasion
try listening to g funk songs while u are working out or at the party, u'll fall asleep
basically I love this hyphy shit
-
I dont like it but if the west can shine for this I can deal with it...crunk brought the south out and now that they got that ignorance out they system theres alot of quality music comin out the south...
-
havent herd enough songs to tell you for sure. im sure it will never be as good as the g-funk sound. but ifrom what i have herd it is cool
-
It depends on who's hyphy sound it is. Rick Rock, Traxxamillion, Sean T and Droop E got the best hyphy tracks so far. There's a few others, but a lot of the guys makin so called hyphy music are just people who dont have no musical training and are just hittin random keys.
-
not melodic enough for me, just like crunk music, but it's aight i got nothing against crunk nor hyphy
-
Rick Rock has been one of my favorite producers since about 2002, he's always been creative and unique. I like the whole hyphy movement because there's a lot of new sounds, ideas and styles coming out of it.
I can't get enough of this
-
it love it for partying and that kinda shit it has so much energy and the hyphy style shits on crunk less yelling more fun and the beats do sound a different sound to them. overall its something that will grow on you if you give it a chance
-
I think it's aight. I feel that there are artists that pull it off well, such as e-40, keak, turf talk etc. Yet, I see a bunch of no name fucks hopin on the hyphy band wagon and they just sound shitty as hell. When hyphy is done well and professionally it sounds good. Haha that might sound weird but I don't know how else to say it.
-
I dont really fuck with that shit.
-

I know exactly what you mean. You're average rapper can't pull it off, you have to have a 'larger than life' type of mojo lol
like San Quinn knows he doesn't make hyphy music, and he doesn't try to.
-
can someone give me good songs to download, i have no clue wat you all are talking about
-
aint really diggin it.....ill give it another go...
-
Im feelin the whole hyphy movement to be honest. I like southern crunk when done properly, and i always had a warm spot in my heart for the bay
but i also feel that point about no namers doin it like the southern is being overflooded with
bay versions of Drama, Tango Redd etc
-
I Fuckin Love It!
-
Im not really in2 it. I'm feelin sum tracks (as with most styles) but most of its not 4 me.
-
im feeling hyphy, how can you not love goin dumb and ghost ridin whips
-
I'm lovong it of course, but people are pigeonholing it as being just one type of music. It is FAAAR more lyrical than the majority of Crunk music. Plus, in a month or so, 50% of the people here not feeling it will contradict themselves
-
not feeling it, probably never will
-
Not really feeling it. I'm willing to listen if somebody is said to come with some heat, be it hyphy or whatever, but in general I'm not really feeling the hyphy shit.
-

LMFAO, that shit is dumb
-
Hyphy is not westcoast music. Its another crunk rip off.
and that wack shit will never blow up outside of the bay area.
-
^^^I aint got the time to tell you why everything you just said is completely wrong.
-
^^^I aint got the time to tell you why everything you just said is completely wrong.
everything i said was right. Hyphy music is not westcoast. everything coming outta the Bay Area today doesn't even sound westcoast.
-
That shit get's on my muthaphukkin nerves. . .

so adicktive, who makes west coast sounding music? and more importantly, what does westcoast music sound like?
-
if its music coming out from the westcoast then its fucking westcoast music.Im loving this shit and i hope the West can shine again thru this new music. 8)

EVERYTHING COMIN OUTTA THE BAY DOESNT SOUND WESTCOAST? I think everyone is forgettin about Yuk he may go hyphy on some shit but that nigga as lyrical as anybody from the bay, L.A. east south period. and YUK SOUNDS WEST COAST AND HAS BEEN HELPING HOLD DOWN THE WEST COAST FOR YEARS! So dont tell me NOTHING Outta of the bay sounds west coast. How about Spice 1 or Celly Cell (not as popular anymore) but still doin good things and puttin out good music and they sounds az west coast as they ever have.
About the Hyphy shit, i wasnt really feelin it at first but i got some niggaz from the bay that got my listenin to it and now i am feelin, although i do prefer listening to it at a club\party rather then in my car or house, but it is way more lyrical then the South shit, not all of it but most. Mac Dre got hyphy on his shit but he could spit bars, same with E-40 cant nobody deny his lyrical abilty compare him to say the ying Yang Twins or Something like that with that Crunk shit and the bay is way more lyrically the only crunk niggaz fuccin with the bay is Outkast and they on some other shit right now. The south is about to Fade and the Bay is gonna take over. I have a feeling.....
-
addicted to beef is a jack ass....yall should know that by now...he the only fagget getting on here talkin shit about the bay like he knows it aint poppin off....but everytime dude talks this hyphy shit gets bigger....so lets keep putting these hyphy forums while his bitch ass cries and moans about the bay being trash ....
-
As I have said before, there are some Hyphy songs that sound straight from the south, and there are some with the south's influence to it. However...not only did Lil Jon get major influence from The Bay for his style, but everything Rick Rock has done is straight west coast, and you can tell because it evolved straight from his style in the 90s.
-
Adding to that...it's funny how we feel "West Coast music" should sound, and how we define it. If you wanna be technical and follow music.....the so-called "West Coast sound" that most of us are familiar with was HEAVILY influenced by 70s n 80s Midwest, South, and East Coast funk, and aside from Sly Stone, there weren't many west coast artists who contributed to that sound...it was Roger n Zapp (Ohio), George Clinton n Parliament (Jersey), Ohio Players (Ohio), Isley Bros (Ohio), James Brown (somewhere in the south I think), and the list goes on. So even our sound is not truly west coast as far as music is concerned, but only for what we have made it become in rap.

Just like the rest of ya'll I prefer Ras Kass when I'm out clubbing :)
-
what is "Hyphy-sound"?
-
I aint no big fan of it and especially not now when its tha new 'trend'. I like sum artists from tha bay but I've been fans of them since they hit tha scene example Spice 1, Yukmouth, B Legit etc.

true, but the bay really never got their shine like they were suppost to. its like wut fab said on mtv, "pac was gonna put the bay on" but then he died, so its been on pause. even tho getting "stewie and hyphy" is the new trend, im still down with it, cuz im from the bay, and i feel that it was long overdue... at the same time, wut better way to bring in the white suburban audience in by having a thizz face, and participating in sideshow activity (the sideshow is a breeding ground for crime) i dont think we sold out at all. and fuck all the pac haters, how can you hate on the realest nigga to ever rap period. pay homage u suckasss
-
I luv it!! all day everyday
-
i still dont know really what hyphy is? Is it just going dumb and being stupid???
