Well.. im thinkin startin collection all of bob marleys albums.. but i wonder if i shud go with vinyls or cds?
vynyls got that OG feeling... but i cant play them on as many locations as cds... and u have to flip the side on them.. while a CD can be played from start to finnish..
leave ur comments, how does ur music collection look like? thanx :)

im tryin to collect vinyl, cause cds u can always burn after downloading illegaly, but vinyl, get yourself some marvin gaye, let the needle drop, and the panties drop along with it.
-
Both. Vinyl collection is unique. It is just nice to have them and put them somewhere in your room where everybody can seen them. You hardly ever play them. The cd's you collect to play.
-
yup. im starting my vinyl collection. i was doing cds for awhile, but time for strictly vinyl.. all about the rare stuff..
-
I'd buy vinyls as well as CD's if I had something to play them with. Like you said, they got that "OG-feel".
But in the end it really doesn't matter to me what the media I collect is, I just want the songs on the media.
-
get both

I have both, some stuff doesn't get realeased on certain formats so you've got to take what you can get.

Definately! The feelin of gettin sumfin rare on vinyl is gr8! ;D

I have probably 250-300 vinyl albums, I love it. It's cheap and I always listen to albums straight through whereas with a CD it's easy to skip through so some songs don't grow on you like they would on vinyl.
Plus you can transfer vinyl onto CD, it's a long process but saves money.
-
yeah, im starting to get back into buying more vinyl, i was buying a lot for a while, then just stopped for some reason...i still buy cd's too tho...
-
voted vinyl.

I don't really collect cd's, although I have tons... I look @ them as just a way to listen to music as opposed to something that's actually valuable or neat to have.
All of my vinyl I collect not really for the songs on the albums, but for the uniqueness of the album. I even have a bunch of albums that are just old surf albums from the 60's, or albums with titles like "Swingin' sounds for lovers" with a picture of some half-naked chick from 1968 on it. Most of that weird stuff like that has some really good music on it. Best part is you can find boxes and boxes of them everywhere, and dig through and find your favorite 1 or 2 albums.
If you're gonna collect strictly hiphop though I imagine it'd probably be different so I don't have a good suggestion for that.

Vinyls. CD are becoming obsolete.
-
thanx for yall inputs...
i think ill go with both.. the hip hop shit from 90-00 i got on cds, but i think ill get the older 60-80's music on vinyl.. its pretty cool to dig in your parents collection... i found some really dope jimi hendrix shit... i also got Jimmy Cliff live in concert...thats some dope ass shit i never thought i would find in my own home hehe

for "collecting" purposes - it's a no-brainer -->> vinyl

Co-sign. I have about 100 vinyl records, that includes 12" and 7" singles as well, and around 1000+ CDs. I like collecting vinyl because it's not everyday you see someone with a nice vinyl collection. Like someone else said, some stuff can only be found on vinyl.

Your going to get addicted....When i got my turntables, i was looking for all the rare vinyl, id spend 4+ hours at amoebas just looking thru the crates seeing what i could find, drop a whole paycheck there....lol....ive calmed down a lot, but yeah, the joy of finding that rare record is fun i guess
-
im going to give up most of my cd purchasing.. unless its a rare cd, or its some brand new more mainstream stuff that i just want to play in the car, but anything else will be strictly vinyl. help me to cut down from buying too much bullshit thats out there on cd.
-
cd's, cause in 100 years u can still bump cd's but no vinyl (i think)
-
if i had the choice i'd go with vinyl over cd's. like it was stated b4, it has that OG feeling to it when u put the needle on the record.
DAMN i wish i had me one :(
